You have two GDE’s on order?

Yes. One to replace our 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid and the other to replace our 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan.

We had long been planning to replace the Odyssey with an EV when one came on the market that could match the Odyssey's passenger room with sufficient range for road tripping. (As we have the only 3-row vehicle in our circle of friends, we are the designated drivers on most group outings.)

And over the past year we had started thinking about replacing the Tesla for several reasons. As time passed with an Air Dream Performance also in the garage, we just became increasingly disappointed by the Tesla's shortfalls in handling, ride, room, comfort, and quietness compared to the Lucid. There was no hurry to replace it, and we were just waiting for another EV to come down the pike that could give an Air a run for the money, as we were intending to keep the Air we already had. (A Taycan was always on the periphery of our thoughts, but its cramped interior and difficulty with OTA updates just kept my chimes from ringing.)

We saw Gravity prototypes in person three times during 2024, finally being able to sit in one at the Miami Worldcenter studio. The vehicle looked much more appealing in the flesh than in photos: sleek, muscular, and elegant at the same time. And we were blown away by its interior, being particularly surprised by its second-row room compared to the Odyssey (and with a third row on par). So that locked the Gravity in as our choice to replace the Odyssey.

But then came the early test drive reports, particularly those by Kyle Conner and especially Jason Cammisa. Suddenly the Gravity began to look also like a possible replacement for the Tesla. We just started thinking, "hey, if we can get top-tier handling and power in a roomy vehicle that is only fractionally larger in exterior dimensions than an S or an Air, why look for another sedan? What's really so weird about having two SUVs and a sedan in the garage instead of two sedans and an SUV?"

I already knew that if the Gravity offered a Dream Edition we would get that. But when the price premium turned out to be much smaller than I had anticipated, we just decided to make the second one a Dream Edition, too. That way, if both SUVs were in use there would be no arguments as to who took which.

We've been given a "target delivery" date of June 27 for our first GDE, a green/Tahoe/21-22". No VIN yet on the black/Yosemite/22-23".
Cool! I still don’t have a target delivery date, other than the one I named, haha, but it’s good to know you do!

I'm not placing any bets. However, it at least let me get slots lined up for the PPF and radar installs. Both installers said they can roll with a little bit of slippage on the delivery since we're in "off season" in Florida.

Baby steps.
