How is the Press Responding to the opening of Gravity Orders?

I think it’s the opposite. If they are just preparing pre-prod cars for press reviews then production is probably going to end up being Q1
I just wanted to be in my optimistic lala land for a bit

I'm not sure what the dividing lines are between a gamma prototype, a release candidate, and a pre-production vehicle -- all terms I have seen applied to Gravities over the past few months.

Lucid published a video of the first release candidate Gravity coming off the production line three months ago. If they are only now at pre-production (whatever that is), I would tend to agree with @momo3605 that we won't see anything delivered by year end, which is less than six weeks away.

FWIW, a mobile tech came to our house today, and I asked him what he was hearing about the Gravity. He said he has heard that Lucid will deliver a few Gravities by year end just to say they did, but there won't be any significant number of deliveries until Q1. When I asked him the source of that information he was so unsure of its veracity that I didn't even bother to post about it until I saw these last few posts.

Rawlinson said this week that production start was "eminent" (whatever that means). But I have seen nothing reported on this forum or elsewhere that anyone has been contacted to confirm a final order configuration, which I assume would have to happen before production begins unless the first Gravities are going to be delivered to insiders. I ordered within an hour of orders opening up and got a call from my delivery advisor about an hour later, telling me I was one of the first orders they received. (I'm not sure I will confirm my order until I see what impact my wheel choice will have on range, anyway.)
I can definitely say that production is scheduled between now and first deliveries =)

Yep, sorry. I've been getting "its" and "it's" reversed lately, too. I need a break.
I wasn’t actually trying to correct you, sorry. I thought you had read eminent somewhere and didn’t make the connection; I’ve been sleep-deprived too. :)

Correct away. It doesn't offend me. I've also gotten "there" and "their" crossed in a few recent posts that I didn't catch until after the edit window expired. I try to blame it on spellcheck but, no, I think it's me sometimes trying to get things up too quickly.

IMO there's too much angst and speculation about this. I believe the plan was always to deliver a few Gravities to very friendly customers this year, then to begin to ramp up production through several months into next year.

Correct. As far as I can tell, everything seems to be going precisely as I’d expected it to, from a production perspective.

I am sure some of the OGs from this forum will be in that list and can’t wait to get there take once they get the vehicles!

Do you think the plan has always been to get it into studios and in the hands of the press/media/influencers AFTER getting it into the hands of existing owners?

To me, this is a huge question and we don’t have an answer yet. I absolutely love my Lucid but would never buy any car from any manufacturer without an appropriate test drive. I also do lean a lot on automotive journalists to describe their opinions. Currently, there is an information vacuum large enough to keep many from placing an order.

I am definitely in that group. I had planned to place an order soon after the opening of orders. I assumed/hoped by then there would either be test drives available or at least units to see or at the very least some press reviews.

Since I’ve seen none of the above i’m waiting on the sidelines. I have my AGT ready to sell or trade in. In the meantime I’m enjoying my AGT.

Two of the best cars I've ever owned were bought without any available for test drives at the time: my first Audi R8 and the Lucid Air. However, both had been test driven and reviewed extensively by reputable auto journalists. Now knowing the kind of vehicle Lucid is capable of building, I did order a Gravity without a test drive or press reviews. However, I think most people are of your view, and it's the reason I remain mystified at Lucid's timing and marketing strategy with this rollout.

Totally agree Bobby. I have placed an order on day one and will not confirm the order without test driving and seeing reviews from reputed sources. Hopefully the post/tweet I pasted earlier from the Lucid PR means some vehicles in the hands of reviewers - I don’t know that for a fact - I am just wishing. There is definitely an information vacuum and I hope it will get filled soon.

Furthermore, even in the absence of a test drive, I would imagine that SUV buyers want to at least sit in it and see if they feel that the interior packaging is a fit for their families’ needs.

I have a reservation in, but I hope to see some reviews by early December. I need some information before cross shopping end of the year sales from other brands.

I personally would like to buy the Lucid Gravity. However, my wife definitely feels a 3 row SUV is too large and it would be her car. A test drive will be critical to the buying decision as I need to convince my wife. And auto reviews will definitely help me gain more confidence too.
