How is the Press Responding to the opening of Gravity Orders?

You beat me then. My order was logged at 9:21 a.m. EST.
8:48am, and not cause I was obsessively refreshing, was asking wife what color she wants and went to look at options while waiting. She said she don’t care but by then my order was completed.

I'm not sure when orders opened up on Nov. 7. They were supposed to open at 11:00 a.m. EST, but when I went on to the forum that morning there was a post from a moderator saying that orders had already opened. When my delivery advisor called me shortly after I ordered, he said I had ordered within the first hour.

Do you know when orders actually opened? I don't know that it really matters, but I am curious.

They tweeted at 9:04am est…I guess we can do a poll to see if anyone places it ahead of me to try and guess this.

I thought X got there before I did but I was wrong.

Two of the best cars I've ever owned were bought without any available for test drives at the time: my first Audi R8 and the Lucid Air. However, both had been test driven and reviewed extensively by reputable auto journalists. Now knowing the kind of vehicle Lucid is capable of building, I did order a Gravity without a test drive or press reviews. However, I think most people are of your view, and it's the reason I remain mystified at Lucid's timing and marketing strategy with this rollout.
Literally the same.

It seems that Jon Rettinger -- a YouTuber with 1.63 million subscribers -- has ordered a Gravity:

He also had an early DE Air and got rid of it pretty quickly. Let's see how long he keeps the Gravity.

I am happy to review the straight line performance with some Dragy help when I get mine.

Shopping for wheels/tires is hard without knowing the bolt pattern tho.

20” wheels might be straight off the air…

Good catch. It does appear to be the same design, but only the Air rear wheel would fit the Gravity -- and then only for the front of the Gravity. The 265/50 R20 front tire of the Gravity is the same as the rear tire of the Air 20" wheel, but the 285/45 R21 rear tire of the Gravity has no size equivalent in the Air.

Wasn’t planning to use air tires just taking guesses at Gravity wheel spec as wheels and tires generally get swapped out within the first month. As much as I love all the efficiency ideas, I need wet/dry/snow traction first.

I just mentioned to tires to show the rear wheel width of the Gravity is probably greater than the Air, since all we have right now to guess the Gravity wheel widths is the tires they wear.

Although it's not the most common bolt pattern, the Tesla Model S and the Lucid Air -- both engineered by Peter Rawlinson -- use a 5x120 pattern, so I suspect that's what we'll see on the Gravity.

Harder to guess about wheel offsets, though. The 21" Air wheels have 37mm front / 41.74mm rear, which differ from the Tesla 21" wheel offsets of 40mm/45mm. However, those differences are small enough that most wheel experts were say they were interchangeable.

Once the clicks fall so does the car. Churning keeps the views up.

Rettinger actually made a video explaining why he sold his Air because so many of his viewers expressed surprise and assumed it was because he changed his mind about liking it in his earlier review.

As prelude to giving his reasons for selling the car, this is what he said about his very early build Air Dream Performance:

"The car was incredible in pretty much every aspect. It drove unlike anything I have ever driven. The performance was nuts. The luxury was incredible. The build quality was outstanding. I love [his emphasis] the Lucid Air."

Seems like the media reviews will be out in a week or two. Kyle from OOS indicated that they will be driving Gravity next week (comment at 1:29:20) while they made this video:

Might be some embargo for reviews till the officially produce customer spec cars.

Thanks for this heads up. I had missed this, as I can never make it all the way to the end of Kyle Conner's feature-length movies these days.

I'm really looking forward to hearing from "Top Gear", "Throttle House", "Motor Trend", "Car & Driver", Jason Cammisa, and a few others on the Gravity. "Edmunds" and "Consumer Reports" . . . yeah, not so much. Don't really need to see a Gravity on bicycle tires pitted against a Bugatti Chiron, or whatever creative new test "Edmunds" can whip up, or to hear another complaint from "Consumer Reports" that Lucids are not "value-based" purchases for average consumers.

In reference to the mention of driving the Gravity by Kyle soon and he also mentioning that he will be driving the Air back:
Kyle posted that he is starting his road trip to return the Air about two hours ago.

My assumption is that he, and others, will be reviewing the cars in the next couple of days. So they weren’t kidding about a couple days to the Gravity drive from the video posting!

Anyone drive by Lucid’s headquarters on their way to work? (Kidding) I sincerely doubt Lucid would have the press drive out of their headquarters based on what other legacy manufacturers do for press drives.

This is of course pure “for fun” speculation because I highly anticipate the Gravity reviews!

Looks like the press review is happening really soon as Jordan from OoS is flying out to SF today specifically for Luicid.
