"Hey Lucid" specific capabilities

I found that Hey Lucid gets triggered very easily, even when I don't think I said anything remotely like Hey Lucid. On the other hand, I tried saying some phrases that were somewhat like Hey Lucid to see if it got triggered, and it didn't. The same thing happened with Alexa in the car on occasion, but I don't have that problem with any devices in my home. It might be because I removed "Alexa" from the choices for wake words.
You can turn off the verbal trigger and just have it tied to the button on the steering wheel if that helps.

I'm finding that "Hey Lucid" is not nearly as functional as Alexa was for my personal usage. I can no longer raise and lower the rear sunscreen by voice. Which is odd that the native system can't control function in the car that were previously done my Alexa.

Really annoying is when changing audio format or channels, Alexa was quick and seamless. Now it hears the command, pauses, plays the earlier channel for a couple seconds, then switches to the new channel eventually. Sounds kind of like skipping around on the radio dial when I was a kid.

The navigation requests used to be most responsive of all my experiences and now it only works with my voice about 1 out 6 times at best.

I also soft reset the OS every couple of days to bring full audio back to the car. For some reason it stops playing sounds from the audio, navigation and turn signals while driving. Other times it has sounds but they are very muted and just certain frequencies. The reset fixes it but I don't know what triggers to stop working.

I am hopeful that over time "Hey Lucid" get develop to be a great system (by being developed in-house) but for now it was a step backward in function.

It will absolutely get better over time. The decision to build something on your own has many long-erm benefits, but the short term is always a bit rough.

It wont lift or drop the rear shade either. Does not work well with Tidal as it never gets song or playlist right.
This is bugging me. I didn't use Alexa much but one thing it could do without fail was control the rear sunshade. I wonder why this feature was removed from Hey Lucid?

It's important to note that they didn't "remove" anything from Hey Lucid. They built Hey Lucid from scratch. Every single function needs to be added one at a time. They simply didn't get to this one yet. They will.

I suspect most car functions will be added sooner rather than later. Shades, lights, seat heaters, and on and on. They added a few already, but there are many more to go.

It is insane that Lucid introduced "Hey Lucid" without any documentation or training to their technical support staff. I have requested documentation, but Lucid has refused to explain its new feature.

Every time I say " Hey Lucid, Call XYZ Mobile or call 1234567890", it always comes back with "no phone linked". My phone is connected via CarPlay and I am able to dial thru the UI but not thru HL...

As long as you’re connected to CarPlay, you can’t make calls with the native LA. It’s the same way that Alexa functioned and it’s the same approach in my BMW. You’d need to disconnect from ACP to regain that function from LA.

Got it. Thanks for replying...

That's not the only problem with it. I don't have CarPlay in the car, unless I plug in my Carlinkit for AA. But for now, LA doesn't access your contacts. So you can say, Hey Lucid, call Jack. You have to give it a phone number. Alexa would call Jack or even send him a text message. I'm hoping that this is one of the first updates Lucid makes to LA.

Hold up, LA should have access to your contacts. I personally tested this by asking it to call someone by name.

However, if you plug in via CarPlay, it assumes you will use Siri, and can no longer access your contacts (this is a weird CarPlay detail due to how it uses Bluetooth; they’re aware of it).

So my bet is: if you leave the carlinkit unplugged, LA will call your contacts just fine. If you plug in the carlinkit (thus using CarPlay) it will not.

Test and report back? :)

Tested. It does have access to contacts and can make calls but I can see why I thought it didn't.
Alexa wasn't quite as good as Google with this, but LA falls far short of Alexa for now. It will see my of my contacts and call them. But there's quite a few of them it just can't understand, even if the name is pretty simple. That includes my sister and my son. Which is why I tried this a couple weeks ago and though it didn't work at all. The other weird thing it does to contacts is that it lists them all in a LastName, FirstName format, no matter what is on your phone. So if there's a business with a three word name, you need to drop the middle word to have LA recognize it.

I think it works fine. However, you need to make sure you are not connected to Apple Pay and you set up your phone thru Bluetooth. Check these pics out. You need to go to applications, lucid assistant, then your phone, etc. after that make sure you go to contacts so it syncs. I noticed mine did not fully sync until I went to contacts and waiting to see that it was done.

Thanks for posting the screenshot. I tried the above, but I am still having trouble with certain contacts (specifically my husband). I have changed how his contact is listed thinking that it is a recognition issue, but even when he is just listed as "husband" and Lucid repeats that back to me, it says it can't find that contact. I thought maybe it is a function of where the contact is stored, but other contacts stored in the same place are fine. Haven't gone through many contacts to see if there others cause that would mean calling everyone. Any thoughts or suggestions?

So, LA won't phone or text any of my contacts. I have a Galaxy S23 (android), so I'm definitely not connected via Carplay.

It keeps telling me that it can't find the number, or doesn't have a number for the contact.

The only thing I use voice commands for is phone and text, so this is a big deal for me.

I've deleted the phone from the car and "forgot" the car from the phone and reconnected, but that didn't help.

Please tell me I'm simply overlooking something.

Did Lucid ever post of list of capabilities/commands?

This is what I said after getting LA. But it turns out that it will phone and kind of text contacts, it's very choosy about which ones it likes. For me, it can't understand my home, my son or my sister, all of whom I call frequently. But it has managed to call other contacts once I tried. I also have the Galaxy 23 Ultra, so maybe it's more of a problem for Samsung phones. There is an Android Auto workaround, which I got working back in May and now I'm really glad I did. That works flawlessly for phone and text, better than Alexa did. But it is expensive and with AA coming out reasonably soon, it's not worth the investment.
