My heat stopped working on my 2023 Touring yesterday and it is really cold here in NJ. I called customer care and they had me do a reset. It didn't work and they said someone from service would call me "when they become available". Does anyone know if there is something I can do myself to get the heat back on? Even with the seat heaters on high and steering wheel heater on it is too cold.

Seems like you are unfortunately part of the 2000 cars that have a recall out for this.

Thank you. Hopefully service becomes available and they get back to me

We had this happened to us a few weeks ago. We had to bring our car into service. They replaced the heating unit and a week later we were back in service.

Just to be super clear: the recall is that 2,042 vehicles will get a software update to warn them if their high voltage coolant heater (which is a hilarious name... a coolant heater?) has failed or is failing. Of those 2,042 vehicles, only 1% are estimated to actually be affected, which would be 20-21 vehicles.

You can find the recall report here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V011-9593.PDF

Talk about unlucky!

Yes this! Sorry I wasn't more specific but it still seems like you are in that 1%

I would not wait for someone calling me back. I would call a service center directly to schedule an appointment.

In the meantime, I would buy a 12V car heater. Since the 12V outlet is in the rear right, I would buy a 12V extension cord as well.

You can trivially route the extension cable through the ski passthrough, or you can buy a 12v USB adapter on Amazon

I think USB to 12V adapter is great for low power devices like dash cam because they can provide about 8W.

Most 12V car heaterd use hundreds of watts.

Have had the same thing happen with my lucid air touring and just got it two weeks ago. Tech-support had me reboot, unsuccessfully as well not sure why they wouldn't lean towards the recall first rather than all this troubleshooting when a customer is saying that the heat doesn't work. It's 21° out and I'm attempting to charge at the station with nothing but heated seats in the heated steering wheel.

Had the tech tell me that the car will not blow warm air until past 78 degrees which is absurd. Good thing is a mobile tech will be out on Tuesday 🤞🏾

Another item to add to my list for service... 13+ hours driving without heat. Thankfully the kids and wife have jackets and blankets to stay warm.

Ours stopped working as of yesterday.

Sitting at 58° purely from heated seats and four bodies.

We noticed our heater hasn’t been consistently keeping us warm when we set it to 72. Service said we need to set it higher and don’t use the “auto” setting as that will kick in the A/C. I’ve owned a dozen or so vehicles that all have the auto setting and I’ve always used it in winter with no issues staying warm. Not sure why this vehicle is so different.

I have had mine set at Auto and 68 degrees and it’s worked perfectly. Yes, the A/C will kick in from time to automatically dehumidify, and when it does the air feels a bit cooler until it cycles off, but the climate control works perfectly and just like every other high end car. Whoever gave you that info needs n Service is wrong IMHO…

I have A/C turned off in colder days to avoid A/C and heater alternatively turning on/off to maintain the temperature. As long as it doesn’t get colder than 70, I don’t care if it gets to 75 or beyond due to sunlight etc. Temp set to 70 and A/C set to off. Isn’t that a better efficiency strategy for colder months?

Not IMHO. I could be wrong, but the A/C compressor would only generally be turned on by the car to dehumidify and in that way it plays a key role that heat alone does not.

Again, I find the climate control pretty much flawless. Set it and forget it. Auto has worked great for me thus far. That said, I also only use climate control when really needed. Other times I just warm the car well before I drive (while it’s plugged in) and go without unless needed…

An easy way to check if your system works is to turn on the front windshield defroster. That appears to use max heat after a few seconds of spin up.

We definitely know ours doesn't work though because a manual setting of max heat at 86° plus max fans did not change interior temperature at all.

I feel your pain. A 13 hour trip with not hear is horrible.

Mine stopped working as well, it was picked up today to go to King of Prussia, it was due for service on window seal sometime in February, however when I notified them, they made it a priority, picked it up in 24 hours. I'm in NJ too, it was 11 degrees!
