Gravity Orders Discussion

"Clearly" lol
God forbid someone makes a spelling mistake in a forum. Do you call out everyone’s mistakes?

CLEARLY you knew what I meant

Wait ... is there another way to spell "clearly"?
What's the spelling mistake?

Ugh…. My eyes must be messing with me today. I thought he was calling out a spelling mistake trying to be funny when I re-read it but I was wrong. Can’t remove the post now as the time limit has passed.

Whew!
OK.
I have a masters in Education and after repeatedly reading your post, I'm thinking, "I suck at proofreading".

Sure, I get that, but don’t call them production units. Or real cars are getting delivered in 6 months where basic features will actually get turned on?

And by basic I mean their most expensive premium features.

Lack of HUD functionality makes me want to take my order down by 6k if I can’t expect the basics to work.
In the OoS review of the Escalade IQ, Kyle talks about the HUD of the IQ.
He compares it to other HUDs, including the Gravity.

Go to about the 1:09:45 mark

You left out the important part from your other post in the OoS thread 🤣

I lost track of how many times he either says "stupid" or "dumb" when referring to the IQ.

That compares so brief but I did appreciate the size comparison at 57 minutes starts mark to Gravity, that was good.

True.
My intent was to show that the Gravity HUD is at least already functional. Maybe not flawless, but functioning. There was discussion about the extreme case of it existing as hardware, but no functionality.

You mean a half hour past the point any other review would have ended? And with another half hour to go?
This is why I refuse to watch his reviews. The day only has so many hours and he should use some of his editing the content so I don't have to use so many of mine watching.

Soon I hope. Something called work has been getting in the way.
Maybe you can fly a sponsorship banner behind the plane so that you can quit your day job?

What? I wasn’t pointing out a spelling mistake or anything like that at all. As far as I could tell, everything was spelled correctly. I wouldn’t do that. Please don’t take it that way.

I was implying, sarcastically, that your assertion wasn’t “clear” at all. That’s all.

He also compared the 2 vehicles overall and concluded Gravity was the better choice. He'd only pick the Caddy for hands-free long-range highway cruising (or maybe he said "cursing'. I had it on 1.5x speed ;)). Land yacht vs sports SUV. I was surprised just how bad the Esclade was. Efficiency 50% of the Gravity, very hard to get into the third row, and when you do it's cramped, corporate parts bin over-used, low-quality materials, etc. It's ginormous, yet Gravity has almost as much interior space. Lucid killed it on packaging especially and just about everything else, but the comparison was undoubtedly helped by GM's inept design.

In my opinion, this whole video was not a good look for the Escalade at all. GM seems to be so disconnected from reality at the moment to think this was a good vehicle to release. The fact it needs a 200+kW is just an outright waste of precious battery minerals and the cost alone to put that behemoth into that vehicle is felt everywhere. Double stacking the battery, the weight, etc. This vehicle should be used in engineering guidelines on "what not to do".

The fact the Gravity looking like a Mini Cooper next to this thing and the inside space is comparable is hilarious. Would love to see the BOM costs for the Escalade vs Gravity because no way is GM going to have profitable EV's if this is the engineering stance they're taking.

I think with OoS you don't get to choose what to view. Its Kyle's truth and I respect him for that. Also, I respect that he chose a L-O-N-G format when we live in a TikTok 15"' world!

There are 31 flavors of ice cream so we should all respect that the flavor may not be for one but may be for another. I also watch OoS videos when I have the time, in bites and also at 1.5x speed.

Fair, I just don’t believe GM is making good EV’s from an engineering standpoint alone. The cars look fine but under that shell of a vehicle seems to be an unprofitable disaster.

Which is a shame given they were ahead of the pack when they got the Bolt out.

I disagree with you. GM started with their EV development a while ago and has taken very precise steps. Unlike Ford that put in any battery and slapped it on their cars, GM is installing pretty good tech in their cars. They started with the Bolt and Hummer. Two completely different vehicles. Now they have the Cadillac Lyric, the Escalade, Blazer, Equinox, Silverado and other EVs.

I agree that the escalade is not very efficient, but for those willing to buy a monster of a car that guzzled gas, the EV version is far more economical than the gasoline version.

A 200kw battery would cost $30 to fill up with south florida electricity cost. The gas version would be $120+ to fill up.

I have a 2022 Bolt for my son. We love the car. It is older tech and limited to 50kw at a fast charger. But boy, everything works and the software never crashes. The car is super reliable. The GM super cruise is just awesome. It will drive hands free on highways and pass cars by itself. If you have never seen it go take a test drive.

I think besides Lucid, GM has the second best EVs on the road today.

I agree with you, but from a “did they build a good EV” standpoint the answer is pretty clear. And if you wanted a huge Escalade… just get the gas one. That’s my $.02.

Coming soon…ability to charge
