Gravity Delivery Discussion

This timing has worked out with bizarre serendipity for me. I had my second knee replaced last week, can't drive for a couple more weeks, and can't make an extended trip for at least six weeks. So getting the car delivered at the end of June and then having it wrapped and the radar/laser system installed over the following two weeks works out perfectly. The Gravity and I are both "in the shop" as it were during exactly the same time frame . . . and the car and I will both be ready for our summer road trip to the Blue Ridge.

To make it even weirder, all this delay with the aggravating lack of communication from Lucid, also met my other agenda of not wanting to get a Gravity too early in the production run. Every one of @Adnillien's flyovers with dozens and dozens of Gravities lined up to shipping far and wide was a downright balm to my worries on that score.
Wishing you a speedy "Lucid Dream type" recovery, and, of course, without any glitchy updates.

My order page started showing an available update.
The data we have here so far indicates that the VIN is in the system and the car is online, but it's really curious that these "Version 1.1.1" updates still identify vehicles as "Lucid Air" and describe features corresponding to 2021 software releases for the Air (scroll down to the bottom of this list: https://www.lucidupdates.com/ota-updates.html)

I wonder if these are placeholders while the customer-facing web interface is updated to support the Gravity, or actually reflect the post-manufacture/pre-update SW image of the Gravity, or something else entirely. It's curious, but at least shows progress.

Not sure but the page is now showing 3 additional updates this evening, 2 of which were never released for the Air - the 1.3 and 1.4 updates.

My guess is they’re just testing the OTA update process, pushing test releases. These will likely disappear before delivery.

Yeah, those don't look like real version numbers to me. Seems like there's some off-board fleet management systems that are getting some exercise in preparation for deliveries....

SA reached out to me to see if I wanted to switch to a different config that was available for a Green GGT with 21/22 wheels and no tech package for an early July delivery.

I passed on it but just another data point for someone else.

I just got the same call. GGT (not DE), Aurora Green, 21/22", all packages except Tech, and ... new twist .. 5-seat config. Probably no Power package, but SA still needs to confirm. I decided to hold out for Tech package, but it is getting harder each time to say no 😬

Seems to ba a battle of the "compromise nothings" 😂

Who's gonna break first? *spoiler* it's not going to be Lucid :p

Yes, it appears that if you are willing to forgo the HUD, you can most likely place an GGT order now and get it prior to most people waiting for HUD that placed order 6+ months ago.

Which makes me wonder why Lucid is putting HUD in both showroom cars and demo cars in Studio’s. Seem’s to me that if they only sent the demo car with HUD and made showroom car without HUD they could save some HUD’s for customer cars. This could also help move GGT’s without HUD in the short term. They could tell walk in customers “If you want the HUD car, be prepared to wait 8-10 months but if you like this showroom car without HUD, you might have one like it within 6-10 weeks.”

Hopefully Lucid is not taking my above recommended approach because they anticipate the HUD issue to be fully resolved by this fall. Just me trying to be optimistic. 🤣

You'd be talking less than 50 cars which in the scheme of things probably wouldn't have been worth it.

My SA found the following:
Aurora Green Metallic,
Tahoe Leather,
Stealth Appearance,
Glass Canopy,
21"Front/22"Rear,
DreamDrive,
Surreal Sound,
Luxury Seating Package,
5-passenger configuration,
Without comfort package,
with dynamic handling package,
without technology package,
without towing package

The deal killer for me was dream drive as opposed to dream drive premium. Premium has additional cameras to enable auto park in/out.

Not having the comfort package in a $100,000+ would be a killer for me. As would 5 seats. But it’s interesting they’re making them.

Which makes me wonder. Why are they producing anything but fully loaded cars right now? I understand no HUD, and I guess there was a 48 hour period where there was no tech and no outlets, but why make anything that has lower margins? Another Lucid mystery.

I'm jealous that people are getting calls from their SAs. I specifically expressed interest in forgoing HUD if it would mean getting a car sooner and didn't even get a response. That said, I'd love to see some people get DEs and HUD-less GTs for some comparisons before making a final decision.

With the exception of Tahoe leather and handling package, this is bare bones basic. Either Lucid data shows desire for some low spec GGTs or they are running low on more parts than just the HUD’s.

You have to push some SAs, as has been said. Also, just because the SAs call don’t mean they have legit info.

However, when I got the call two weeks ago, my SA said they had a brand new tool that allowed them to see configurations about to be built and they could now pre match, etc.

Hud-less GTs with everything else included should be delivered by the end of summer, that’s what my SA told me. I was just at Natick picking up my Air after service and they said that’s what they heard also.

The reality is that some smuck who never even heard of Lucid until today could walk into a studio, ask about Gravity and what's available, and be driving one before some of us who have had orders in for several months.

I'm ok with that.
I have the option to do the same.
Also, a sale is a sale.
The more Lucids on the road, the better.

Now if that smuck has been driving a Toyota Camry and got the urge to try an ev without doing any research, things could go sideways.
Same with any other ev company.
Just be ready for when they join this forum. ;)
