Gravity Delivery Discussion

I got a good pic of it. I have polarized lenses but I can still see the HUD...

Actually, this is very different from what we're seeing: a bluish slightly-oval blob about 2" in diameter to the left of the reflection you're seeing. Also, our blob is more solid looking with little ghosting. (I'll try to photograph it when we get the car back from the PPF shop.)

If you cover the HUD projector (?) it goes away?
It's hard to imagine that it wouldn't A black cloth ought to do the trick.

I assume that the HUD reflections are visible whether the HUD is on or off? Looking at the photo @hydbob posted, I can see from the shadows that the Sun is pretty high in the sky, but not directly overhead. Maybe 10:30 am or 1:30 pm. I'm curious how wide a range of Sun positions causes the HUD to become reflective.

As I have a GGT order with HUD, and I'm impatient to get a Gravity, the talk of reflections is making me wonder whether I should amend my order to be without HUD, and hopefully get delivery when they start making white Gravities. If I could get the GGT with HUD today, the reflection probably wouldn't put me off of keeping that in the order, but I'm feeling jealous of those of you with a Gravity in your driveway.

I'm in the same boat, hoping for either a GGT black stealth fully optioned (except tech package, obviously, but with power pack) on 21/22, or GDE black stealth on 21/22. Ordered my GGT day 1, added the DE order after some hemming and hawing. I've been offered several cars with close-but-no-cigar configurations (mostly black GGTs without power pack, but also a green GDE with 22/23) but nothing tempting enough for me to bite. At $125-140K, I want to love what I get and not feel like I compromised.

Lucky dog. My SA says these are not in the queue. That said, I don't know if any of us know what "in the queue," or "in production," actually mean. Yours might have been made last batch but is in final checkout or staging for delivery? Or maybe it's in pre-VIN but all of those are allocated and my SA doesn't want to tell me? It's a very opaque process. At any rate, I am quite certain there is nothing with my name assigned to it yet, be that a manufactured vehicle looking for an owner, or a car making its way down the line now, or a hypothetical VIN that's just a twinkle in some production manager's eye. Sad trombone.
Went to in production on the site on May 30 with a VIN that day. SA informed me build started June 5. No updates since that point.

I have seen pics of black stealth being delivered. The flyby video posted today showed several in the lots at Lucid. They are being built.

FWIW, if you install a ratgdo you can just hit the learn button via software :)

But then you also don’t need Homelink 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, one nice feature of ratgdo; I use it whenever setting up Homelink for the same reason: finding the ladder and running back and forth in 30 seconds lol, minus the gators :p
Have you had any issues with RATGDO? I have a couple of them sitting on my desk that I haven’t installed yet because I still have Homelink on my car and I don’t really use the open/close function on my Home Assistant setup anyway.

I’ve heard some rumors of false open/close signals causing unintended operation.

My BIL installed the *other* (I forget the name of it) system on our shared vacation home and that one seems to work fine too other than having an issue with WiFi signal. But that was more an issue with us just setting up our APs in the new house and not having good enough coverage yet.

I also have a black/stealth DE "in production" with a VIN since May 31st.

Yeah, these are "older" batches, probably the ones from which I was offered orphans. They may just be getting onto the lot now, but in terms of what's being "queued up" now, apparently it's Black/Platinum and not Black/Stealth. Hoping Black/Stealth comes back around on the guitar soon. Also wishing they could get out of this batching hell and into more flexible production. The thought that GDEs are first in a limited production run is obviously a distant memory.

That’s pretty bad. Hopefully goes away with new software. Have a Mercedes EQS580 with a beautiful HUD. Never seen anything like that. Can you adjust the HUD brightness or make other changes?

I changed my order to a AG GGT (Tahoe) with 21/22 wheels and no tech/no outlets in early June - the car was already finished. Of course with a VIN. This is a 5 seater. Hopefully my SA is correct when he said it will ship next week. He said it was being drive train tested early this week (whatever that is…)

With the beautiful OLED screen so close to the windshield we felt the HUD is not necessary - however good luck to those who have ordered it. Hoping to hear about more deliveries coming next week!!

I've noticed a reflection but it hasn't been that prominent. With the wave in that image it looks like it's got a protective sheet on it still. Also, what's that pointy bit on the lip of the dashboard where the HUD hole is? Is it plastic?

This is good though as it means they're running 2 models at the same time through the factory for Gravity. All good practice for when Grand Touring & Touring are both available.

It looks like a mirror insidethe housing

Stupid question, so apologies in advance, but Is there maybe a protective blue plastic film still attached to the HUD?
No plastic film 😁

For those who have taken delivery of the GDEs, what's your impression of the dynamic ambient lighting? Haven't seen it in any of the videos... Thanks

I have a “pre-vin” for black/stealth I got about 2 weeks ago. Now, what does a “pre-vin” really mean? Who knows…

I hate to bring this back up and wold be perfectly fine if you all just liked or disliked the post, rather than re-engaging the topic, but Torque news!(I won't link it here) did indeed run an "article" on the one Gravity owner who had issues which are now tracking with other owners (which several have speculated user error). And in an EV group I am part of, someone posted it and are concerned that Gravity isn't living up to all it was supposed to be. (No worries, I posted details and relayed most owners are having great experiences with some minor issues). I really just want to share so that we are mindful what we post here and other places can be taken on into other media and spun up. Be fair of course and call out issues you find and ask for help when lost, but be mindful that sometimes things will get taken a certain way without your consent or knowledge.
I just test drove a Gravity GT and Drive Assist and HUD worked great, furthermore Drive Assist activated just like it did in the Air, by holding the button on the wheel. Furthermore Drive Assist was working on a road that wasn’t a highway that the Air DA did not work on, and guess what fools, it was hands free. Also the HUD has an awesome blind spot triangle in it so you don’t have to look to the mirror to see if someone is in your blind spot. So Torque News as usual is garbage and they scour for negative comments on sites and misrepresent that as if it were universal. They. Suck.

Here are my two criticisms, both fixable and I’m sure will be fixed. Neither Tidal nor Spotify or any other audio source is searchable. Definitely a bug. Also the lane keep assist alert is pretty damn harsh, worse than the Air vibration. I’m sure they’ll tone it down. Otherwise the car was staggeringly good. It was indeed easier to park than my Air. And it just felt SOLID. Very excited to get mine.

For those of you who have seen the movie "The Sixth Sense", that blue HUD reflection immediately had me thinking of the scene in the movie where Cole's mom is looking at some of his childhood pictures and sees the blue aura given off by the dead people around him.
I didn’t see any artifacts in the HUD in my test drive aside from a whitish bubble in the bottom right but only if the sun hit it a certain way. The HUD is great, people who are complaining about it either need a software update or actually haven’t seen it in person.

There's probably less than 100 of these cars in peoples driveways, they WILL have teething issues and this isn't Lucid specific, happens to all car companies when a new model is released. Only so much testing and checking can be done internally to try and represent the real world.

1000%.

As a first year owner of a Ford Mach-e, I can guarantee first year Gravitys will have more issues than later production years. Ford invented mass production. If they have issues, what are the chances a new automobile company with with a brand new model will? Dudes.

First year Gravity owners need to have thick skin and a high tolerance for the human condition. I can relate somewhat as a Rivian Tri-Max owner. We love these brands, and I know everyone here agrees giving Lucid a lot of patience is necessary for them to survive.

I have black stealth DE in production right now.
Dude, I just violated my own rule I had made for myself. Natick had a Black/Tahoe DE getting prepped to deliver to an owner in Germany I saw today, and it looked SOOOOO GOOOOD that I switched my order on the spot from Green/Tahoe to Black/Tahoe. I’ll put up with the need to clean it every few days, it just looks staggering in person. I swore I’d never own a black car but it’s too seductive. It’s literally what Darth Vader would drive.

Black is a lot of work! I have a black Taycan now and I am washing it all the time, but it's a cathartic thing for me and I enjoy it. I'll enjoy washing the Gravity often as well!
