Gravity Delivery Discussion

Anyone who has driven Gravity also driven a Rivian? My R1S cameras are grainy and crappy, so I am used to that. Our X cameras are amazing. They make our Rivian cameras look like a daguerreotype. So as long as the Gravity isn’t worse than Rivian, I will be okay. The positioning also matters. As in, the view they provide.

I did do a demo drive but didn’t attention.

I did a Gen2 R1S test right before my Gravity test. The camera views on the Gravity are much smaller (it was a tiny box floating in a sea of black background) and seemed lower resolution compared to the Rivian. IMO Lucid needs to stretch the camera view to the edges and bump up the resolution to take advantage of that screen real estate, otherwise what's the point of having a 6K screen.

I second the motion, that was my take too

The cameras on the Gravity currently are like the first iteration of the Air cameras. The current Air cameras have better resolution/software processing.

Does or will the Gravity be able to record video, both while parked and in motion, from it's cameras like Teslas currently do? Trying to figure out if I need a dashcam for mine.

I thought the cameras were fine 🤷‍♂️

But I’m not a videophile 🤣
That’s fair. I am not either. But since we have an R1S and an X, it’s very noticeable. Like if you put an old school CRT tv next to a 4K tv. I will get over it.

However, in order to get over it, I will need my Gravity ASAP so I can compare!

It’s got Halo Secure which I “think” is the intention of eventually offering video but for now it’s more like a basic alarm.

That doesn’t make sense to me if they’re different hardware (Gravity v Air). The camera cost for high quality should be pretty low by now. I am hoping it’s a software thing given the 6k screen, but I don’t know…it takes time. I get that.

I don’t need 6k cameras, but I need better than 480p which is what my Rivian looks like and the older Air I last test drove. We shall see.

Just got a pre-VIN for our GDE. Someone cancelled. AG, Tahoe interior. Large wheels. I get the sense demand for the GDE is pretty low. Admittedly, our GGT order was November 2024, but GDE order was April or May 2025. Regardless, getting excited!
Yeah I told them if they can get me a black DE with the Hankook range wheels and Tahoe interior I’ll switch from a GT. Looking like Darth Vaders car plus having 1000+ horsepower but not losing too much range on the range wheels made it worth it for me.

Back to HUD

1- are various reports of reflections thought to be related to just sun, orientation and lighting or are there hardware differences? Does anyone know if MBZ vs Porsche vs Korean etc are all the same tech ( beyond brightness )

2- polarized lenses are not all the same!
First there are two types of polarization: linear and circular. All other things the same; A-B test. you ( ie nearly everybody) can see a difference.
Second there are different materials and manufacturers; I am not sure how much difference there is.

Third tinting film on windows may also make a difference; I have no idea what happens with all those variables.

My perception on the test drive GT of the HUD artifact was confined to the lower right 1/4 and was kind of a whitish egg shape but really only visible if I was looking more at a downward angle or with my head turned in which case the HUD loses clarity when you’re looking at an angle anyway. The SA also did mention to me that these test drive GTs were the very first factory built production Gravity and are considered 2025 models whereas what’s being delivered to customers is considered 2026 and have some tweaks and differences, at least for GT, not sure about Dream Edition.

Honestly, my thinking was I am paying for the large wheels anyway, so I can buy smaller wheels later. Same with tires. They aren’t massive expenses in the grand scheme.

That said, I don’t love three season “performance” tires, but I like the look. I will see how they feel whenever delivery happens.

Actually I asked the SA, the large size tires are $1,000 EACH, I’m talking tires, not wheels. I don’t know what the cost of the range tires are. I’m just gonna take the approach of not having to swap wheels/tires, I feel like for the Gravity wheels the looks difference between the smallest and largest isn’t as dramatic as between the Air 19s and 21s.

That’s what I ordered. No sign of it going into production yet. 😡

Reflections often happen in cockpits. In our AGT I have unceremoniously matt black ( partially) taped over the chrome dash trim that was strongly reflected in the side view mirrors.

This first article below on the optics of HUDs shows an image quite similar to the one ‘captured’ in our discussion.

To sum up: yes a black Alcantara type non reflective cloth would likely eliminate the HUD reflection as well as the HUD.

Anyone who wants to get lost in the complexity of HUDs see below ? The one thing this clears up for me: an outside vendor’s expertise is what car manufacturers are relying on.

The complexities of polarizers:

I took Delivery of an Aurora Green, Tahoe, 21-22 Orion wheels, fully loaded but no tech in Houston today. I was a day one reservation holder, pivoted to first available vin. And wow. Was an amazing experience. Gravity exceeds all expectations. It’s not a minivan at all in person. Looks like an awesome hybrid of an SUV and a Euro Sports wagon in a really classy way. Tahoe in person is less orange. More baseball glove than Basketball but in between.
I was super excited for delivery and so were the team at the studio. They were very professional and the level of service was excellent.
The drive is advertised and on my way home going between 70-80 and heavy on the accelerator, was getting 3.18 m/kwh.
Only a few minor glitches with Bluetooth call and syncing contacts, but everything worked! Sound system is great. Handles amazing, super quiet in the cabin and exudes quality.
Fit and finish equal the higher quality leather options from Porsche. Zero squeaks.
I can add it was 95 and sunny and the AC was great and even with all that glass I was very happy with the fans on 3/10 and ac on 64 (not the lowest 59)
Dream drive pro 2 and auto lane change worked great on the highways. Fire away

Congratulations! I loved it in the test drive. The one thing I noticed is I think others comments on the quality of the turn signal cameras were valid, at least on the test drive GT they were just kind of overlaid boxes on the screen that were not very high resolution and looked similar to what you see in a Tesla Model Y. Is that the case for your DE? My SA said he thought it was getting fixed in a software update. Also my test drive GT was having issues with the key fob and they had to use the Keycard. They only had been using this GT for test drives for 10 hours so I don’t think it’s a sign for concern or anything, I was just curious if your fob was working as they said there was some OTA in the works for the specific issue they had. Again please other members don’t turn my comments here into negativity, I’m just asking about the experience of an owner versus this test drive car that had been in use for less than one day.
My fob works great. The cameras are kinda low resolution but show you what you need and appear every time the blinker is on. The side mirrors also have the yellow blind spot monitoring triangle. But I have had zero key fob issues. I’ve had the same Spotify, wireless charge pad and in car microphone issues as others. But “mechanically” my gravity is great. I’ve probably taken it on 6-8 small drives other than the 90 mile drive home from delivery. My iPhone app works great for charging info, location and cabin pre conditioning.
