Was so taken by the size difference between the Air and Gravity I neglected to mention something they added to the work order for my Gravity when I dropped it off: "Driver Side Hush Panel". The note says it's a recall campaign, and reads:

"The driver's side hush panel may interfere with the brake pedal, preventing it from fully returning to its resting position. This can result in the brake system remaining partially engaged, leading to a reduction in power."

I'm not even sure what the heck a "hush panel" is, and how it might impede brake travel. The name implies it's an affordance for quietness in that area of the car. Anyone know for sure?

They're the panels on the bottom side of the dashboard usually used to provide sound insulation from the AC or other stuff inside the dash itself.

I have an AGT loaner. Super fun to drive. But, goodness, it is SO LOW to the ground. I have a hard time getting in and out and so do my kids! I feel like it’s the same height as a Corvette.

It’s very clear Lucid learned a lot from the Air and basically addressed everything that made me NOT buy an Air when they made the Gravity.

That said, if I needed an extra “fun” car, I’d definitely get an Air of some level. It’s a lot of fun.

I like that Gravity can lower when parked. Particularly useful to help one of my dogs that's elderly get in and out. Having test driven an Air, it needs the reverse: air suspension raising it up when parked.

Glad to hear you didn't have to come up with hush money to have the hush panels replaced

I'm really surprised how long it's taking them. One of the sites that was supposed to be V4 here in San Diego opened already and it's a V3.5. 40 stalls though at least. And they just put in a V3.5 with 16 two blocks from me a couple months back that I almost never see in use so that'll be a nice one for top ups whenever my Gravity finally arrives (no EV right now in preparation for the Gravity).

I don’t understand what the incentive is for Tesla to move to 1000 volt dispensers. They already have the charger market locked up due to reliabilty and availability as evidenced by the premium they charge non Tesla EVs. I do note that they are rolling out new stations at a record clip, most of which have 16+ dispensers at 325kw. As much as I would prefer not to I’ll probably be using Tesla Superchargers to a large degree on our road trips.

Call me old-fashioned, but . . .

Until we get more familiar with how much range we'll get on long interstate legs in the Gravity driving the way we want (and it's looking to be below 2.5 mi/kWh so far) . . . and until the in-car navigation can filter for NACS-partner SC sites . . . and until we figure out why our cell phones constantly drop GPS signals in the car, I've decided to go old school on this trip and lay charging options out on paper, relying on the charge provider's websites instead of apps and in-car lists. As there are no EVgo stations along I-75 in Georgia, I stuck with Superchargers (preferred) and Electrify America (while holding my nose).

Sadly, there are no NACS-partner Superchargers at Buc-ee's along this route.

There's still the issue that the EA station we checked out in Naples two weeks ago was shut completely down as was the next one up I-75 in Sarasota, causing me to wonder if they were repeating their nasty practice of shutting down entire routes simultaneously as they did in that infamous Labor Day fiasco on I-95 a few years back. I called EA customer support to inquire and couldn't even get the person on the line to understand what I was asking -- insofar as I could understand her ongoing experiment with the English language at all.

Couple thoughts on Cybertruck
1) Cost - they’re giving it away with 0% APR financing and crazy lease deals. You don’t do that on cars that sell well. It’s become much more “affordable”.

2) Geography - Many of us are in geographies where we see lots of expensive cars. People buy them for lots of reasons. I see a couple of Ferraris a week, same with lambos. Yes, I see 2-3 CTs a day, doesn’t mean they’re popular except among a certain set of folks. Also doesn’t mean they’re broadly popular - some of us probably have a tilted view. Yes, I am speaking to those in Park City, or almost any part of CA…

3) Sales via a vis Lucid - Tesla told folks they expected to sell a ton of cyber trucks and guided to that. Lucid did not guide to that for Air or Gravity. Also, not comparable cars. While we don’t know, I expect the Air is outselling the S in the US right now (hence Lucid’s “best selling” in its class claim). That’s more “apples to apples”. The S has a tired design and, aside from better storage/cargo (the Air trunk is a joke) and not being AS low to the ground as an Air, I can’t imagine someone choosing an S over a similarly spec’d Air if the person was really open minded. And yes, I know FSD and software for Tesla are more advanced for now.

FSD on the Model S , at least on my 2018 is unusable and the media software is crap.

He drives fast.
Drag coefficient is one thing. Frontal area is another.

Do you have a sense of how long this *really* takes, and if there are different levels of sleep?

When I had my "blinking screen and can't drive" problem they had me lock and walk away for 30 seconds, and said that once the cluster goes dark it's sleeping. This clearly didn't work. However letting it sit for 40 minutes did. I did not leave the blinker on.

On the Air, usually a minute or less. But it can vary.

On the Gravity, no idea. I should time it.

There are multiple states for sleep: SLEEP, WINK, SLEEP_CHARGE, SLEEP_UPDATE. There are also 6-7 other non-sleep states; you can find these all in the GitHub repo for the Python bindings for the API.

You want SLEEP. It will, once locked, go into WINK first. WINK is not a SLEEP. Once it is in the SLEEP state, you’re good and can power it up again.

I dint know about SLEEP_CHARGE and SLEEP_UPDATE, but I haven’t rebooted while either charging or updating so

Is sleep considered a state where it has 0 communication with key fob/ key card or does it need to be WiFi less as well?

Two updates/questions about bugs. I noticed these differences while driving my Air loaner.

1) Massage - my Gravity massage consistently stops after some time. I noticed on the Air, when I start a massage, a 20:00 countdown timer appears. So maybe Lucid just left that off the Gravity UI by accident? Will test when mine is back.

2) Curb Rash - My Gravity is supposed to have the curb rash warning. It hasn’t gone off in a month of ownership. I drove the Air on the same trip I’ve driven Gravity and the curb rash warning showed up (at an appropriate time)…has anyone with a Gravity had the warning pop up? Or is everyone just staying so far from the curb it couldn’t go off???

Definitely no fob or keycard communication, per service. I don’t think WiFi matters, but they didn’t say.

They also suggested singing a gentle lullaby to the car prior to getting out.

2) Curb Rash - My Gravity is supposed to have the curb rash warning. It hasn’t gone off in a month of ownership. I drove the Air on the same trip I’ve driven Gravity and the curb rash warning showed up (at an appropriate time)…has anyone with a Gravity had the warning pop up? Or is everyone just staying so far from the curb it couldn’t go off???

No timer appears for my massage seats and I’ve had them on for about 2 hours straight.

I get the surround camera turn on when I’m close to any curb or obstacle, but not anything in particular that says curb rash warning.

In my gravity (I’m in Phoenix, AZ where hades would think it was too hot) I am getting 3.13 and have about 3200 miles. My AGT got about 3.4 but also it weighed 1000 pounds less and I had the smaller wheels (in the gravity I have the middle ones).

I’m having the same experience on both counts but on the massage it won’t come back on after it turns off even though it says it is on.
