I agree with you, and I will also say I’ve had four Teslas - most recent is a 2022 X we still have. NONE of them come close to the fit and finish of my Gravity. I was just thinking how solid and well built I feel the Gravity is. Our X still creaks and squeaks and random pieces continue to be misaligned or come out of alignment, etc. Our Gravity (to date) is solid. Yes, our frunk needed adjusting, trunk slams a little - but overall, it’s really quiet and put together. I mean, it’s night and day when I compare the two - our Gravity is just much more impressive a build and feels like what I’d expect from a six figure car.
Not the same for our X.
I concede on the software, but Tesla had a 10+ year head start. The software in my R1S is not great either and I feel like Gravity is at least on par with my Rivian. Neither is close to Tesla, mainly on stability of SW, but I am okay with that for now. I am expecting Lucid to keep the updates coming as Tesla and Rivian have done and as I understand Lucid did with the Air.
Over nine years we drove two Teslas, and I, too, have personal knowledge of how much more shoddily they are built than Lucids. By 10,000 miles our 2021 Model S Plaid was producing squeaks and groans in its hind quarters, while our 2022 Lucid Air at 40,000 miles is still as solid as a rock and quiet as a tomb. And our Gravity has that same vault-like vibe. And our 2021 Tesla was delivered with a roster of manufacturing issues that surpassed even our early-production Air. While the UX 1.0 of the first Airs was abysmal, our Plaid software had its own issues, too, some of which were never resolved during the four years we had the car.
That's the reason this video so fried my grits. I think the premise that Tesla builds a better anything than Lucid is bogus. And I'm angry that the premature release of Gravities to the public can lend even a modicum of support to the argument that Tesla does.
