Gravity Bugs / Issues

I agree with you, and I will also say I’ve had four Teslas - most recent is a 2022 X we still have. NONE of them come close to the fit and finish of my Gravity. I was just thinking how solid and well built I feel the Gravity is. Our X still creaks and squeaks and random pieces continue to be misaligned or come out of alignment, etc. Our Gravity (to date) is solid. Yes, our frunk needed adjusting, trunk slams a little - but overall, it’s really quiet and put together. I mean, it’s night and day when I compare the two - our Gravity is just much more impressive a build and feels like what I’d expect from a six figure car.

Not the same for our X.

I concede on the software, but Tesla had a 10+ year head start. The software in my R1S is not great either and I feel like Gravity is at least on par with my Rivian. Neither is close to Tesla, mainly on stability of SW, but I am okay with that for now. I am expecting Lucid to keep the updates coming as Tesla and Rivian have done and as I understand Lucid did with the Air.

Over nine years we drove two Teslas, and I, too, have personal knowledge of how much more shoddily they are built than Lucids. By 10,000 miles our 2021 Model S Plaid was producing squeaks and groans in its hind quarters, while our 2022 Lucid Air at 40,000 miles is still as solid as a rock and quiet as a tomb. And our Gravity has that same vault-like vibe. And our 2021 Tesla was delivered with a roster of manufacturing issues that surpassed even our early-production Air. While the UX 1.0 of the first Airs was abysmal, our Plaid software had its own issues, too, some of which were never resolved during the four years we had the car.

That's the reason this video so fried my grits. I think the premise that Tesla builds a better anything than Lucid is bogus. And I'm angry that the premature release of Gravities to the public can lend even a modicum of support to the argument that Tesla does.

Question, while you have had more issues than any other gravity owner as far as I can tell, you have not had the “can’t drive car” stranding event with keycard and fob not working, right? How do you drive yours? Fob only? Keycard only? Do you have a passive unlock enabled or disabled?

Yeah, I saw this video a couple days ago and had to comment on it. He might have gotten an older pre production unit for his test drive bc what he was saying made no sense. I haven't been in a Tesla that had anywhere close to the build quality of the Gravity. Also feel thats a shame his first impression was of a less than representative unit and that shop needs to retire that car or repair it.

We've had to use the key card to start the car several times when the fob failed, but we've had no "cannot drive" events. We've also had frequent "no key detected" messages flash and the car refuse to go into gear until after several attempts. (Gently shaking the fob as instructed does not seem to work.) Sometimes this message flashes and spontaneously disappears while driving down the road. We prefer to use the fob but carry our key cards at all times. We've had passive lock/unlock disengaged from the outset, based on advice from this forum. I'm hoping an eventual fix for the fob issues will allow us to engage that feature, which I find very convenient.

I have the “key fob not detected” error almost every time a drive when I get in, but it’s always erroneous and goes away. I use passive lock/unlock and it’s been great except for the one experience unwrite about Friday. Even then, we weren’t stranded, it woke and worked within 10 5-10 minutes. Just annoying.

Sorry to report my double open frunk issue is back. Luckily, they kept it on the due bill. It opens first time sometimes. Sometimes it doesn’t. Concerned it stresses the frunk aluminum when it doesn’t open - so back to limited use.

Not major for me - especially since frunk cushion is unobtainable - but will keep on list.

No need to worry even if they hadn't. I have never had any issue with Lucid trying to duck responsibility for a malfunction. In fact, they have fixed several issues with our Air at no charge that I did not even view as covered by warranty. On a couple of occasions I even insisted that I should pay, and they still refused to take my money.

As much as the early production problems with our Gravity are driving me nuts, it's one of the reasons I keep coming back for more. (That, and the fact that the cars drive like nothing else on the road.)

While slowing down shipment would make sense terms of having more time to fix bugs... the market will hammer them if they don't ramp up production fast enough and they will run the risk of dying a premature death... So they have a very delicate and difficult balance on the tightrope to become a major player... so they need to ship more of them soon (25H2?). Besides if they don't ramp up, many of us in this forum will be sad :(... In any case, the stupid tariffs seem to be forcing a production slowdown anyway...

If they are doing software releases often enough, drawing down on the bug backlog and not introducing new bugs as they fix old ones, then they are doing it right. The one thing they are missing, which they need is some kind of a deal with a major auto OEM... at least this seems to be the interim CEO's goal...

oh yeah... and fix the key fob/card issue!!! :p

Yesterday for the first time I took a ride in the second row of our Gravity when we picked up friends for dinner. Both I, sitting in the right-side seat, and the guy sitting in the left-side seat saw the oval reflection clearly. It is visible from all four first- and second-row seats. And it is visible in all light conditions we've encountered so far, from bright sunshine to rain.

And below is a photo of the reflection even extending below the windshield onto the frame of the HUD unit itself.

There is simply no way that the test driver at the factory did not notice this reflection in our car.

I have the same issue in my wife's S-Class. Perhaps HUD's should have a cover that opens when you turn it on, for all cars. This can be a safety issue.

Our dancing ghosts and swirling lights are getting bigger by the week as the HUD screen distortion gets more severe. The mobile tech who test drove the car two days ago commented on how much larger it had gotten since he was here about 3 weeks earlier.

Is your car parked outside for extended periods? Mine has gotten slightly worse...

They are going to replace the locking mechanism on mine, once they get actual parts in to do it. In the mean time like you, not messing with it much.

Except when we're out in it driving, running errands, or leaving it parked in a lot during dinner it's always garaged.
