Gravity Bugs / Issues

Unfortunately, the Gravity does not photograph all that well. Our first encounter with one in the flesh was almost jarring.

The car is both sleek and muscular at the same time. The gentle sheet metal undulations down the sides play with light in ways that still photographs do not capture and create visual interest far more effectively than the creases and bulges you see on many cars. Everything about the car somehow manages to convey mass without conveying bulk or raw size.

As with so much of Derek Jenkins' work, it's a master class of automotive design.

The Air has aged very well these four years and still telegraphs the futurism that was its opening move on the design chessboard back in 2016. But I do get why reviewers often say the Gravity is the better looking of the two.
So true.
When I saw one for the first time, last May at the Tysons studio in Va., I was astonished. Everything you said about sleek and muscular; so true.

I look at her sometimes from the front and I'm like "Sweety, you are a beast". It's like the Hall & Oates song Maneater. She'll chew up and break you heart if you let her.

That's why all that crap about minivan doesn't even register a blip with me. Long slung wagon, I say and I love that.

When I wife first saw her, one of her first comments was it looks so futuristic.

apparently this new console revision is made by a different manufacturer than the first one as well.
I wonder if this rev. 4 console will permanently fix the issues with the keyfob. Please let us know if you encounter any issues with a keyfob after console replacement.

I've noticed this if I'm going in a store and I'm still very close to the car where it is parked or if I'm home and stop for a few minutes and never leave the immediate vicinity of the car, it'll do this sometimes. 🤷🏾‍♂️
That's why I suggested in other post it might be a good idea to buy a small faraday pouch for a keyfob. Keep it in the car and use it when you're planning to be nearby - too close to let the car sleep. But I'm not sure if this will work. Worth trying I think.

My fob works perfectly. My key cards all work. My frunk latches and unlatches first time. Same with the trunk.

My 2nd rattles if no one is sitting in it. So I'm not sure why the covers would be the source of the rattle. Seems like it would be the spring mechanism inside the seat itself.

I played with them while the tech had them exposed. They slide loosely over each other with a lot of play in the track and do rattle quite noisily. That's probably why an earlier poster said his tech put felt tape on them -- probably to keep them from rattling against each other. They are metal, after all.

At first I was perplexed why we only heard the noise when no one was sitting in the seat. But seeing how the zip tie worked, I suspect that sitting in the seat somehow increases the tension on the zip tie, causing it to pull the top metal plate away from the lower one and hard up against its stops.

It's sort of a Rube Goldberg arrangement that needs a serious rethink. Otherwise, service centers are going to spend a lot of time replacing zip ties and felt tape.

Same.

My second row has the squeak but currently just have one of the seats slightly forward to stop it. Will get it looked at in the coming weeks.

Hmmmm - I'll try rearranging the seats and see if this helps - anyone try driving with the seats down? Does it still squeak? I might just go an do that. My wife commented today that the squeak was getting much louder. I keep getting key fob not detected when I start up - but it seems to resolve and work after I look at it and swear. But I have never had any real issues. My main issues are the squeak and the trunk (not frunk) which has the start/stop issue - opens / closes and then opens after a second try. Also does everyone find the microphone in the car to be terrible? Everyone complains about sound quality when I am speaking with them on the phone. The poor quality microphone is really not acceptable.

I find it quite interesting my wife actually loves the look of the Gravity - inside and out. Normally, what style of car I owned, she usually did not like it. Now, she is a Subaru and Lucid fan.

Others have mentioned the mic issue during phone calls. I was on a call with Customer Care and the rep said she could barely hear me. Sometimes not at all. She added the issue to list for upcoming mobile tech visit.

Looks like there are two mics, I think; roof and near windshield center console.

My trunk (yes, trunk) sounds like something is breaking/cracking when closing. But it opens and closes easily the first time, every time. Just sounds terrible.

I’ve not been able use the mic on our 2022 X or 2023 R1S. Everyone always says I sound terrible. So I’ve gotten used to using my AirPods and will continue to do so in the Gravity.

Similar issue here. I think it's just the latch catching?

That’s my hope…I guess will just let it be as it seems to be fine. I don’t see an issue, but if everyone said “mine closes quietly” I’d be more concerned.

Time to replace the @Bobby foam with some @hmp10 felt tape
