Gravity Bugs / Issues

A visual guide to Tesla Superchargers. First the ones categorically not useable by Lucids:

V1 & V2: Labels at base of charger post are a cabinet number and letter A or B. A and B posts share the power (120-150kW) from the cabinet, so it's advisable Tesla drivers to choose an unused cabinet number if possible (many Tesla drivers don't know this). Most often the A & B posts are next to each other, but some group the As together then the Bs.
Urban Superchargers: these have a different post design: smaller boxes, no hole in the post, cable is on outside of post rather than inside. 72kW max speed, no sharing of power.

Superchargers that can be used by Lucids, with some exceptions:

V3: Post design looks same as V2, but has thinner cable. Labels at bottom of post have same number+letter, but the letters are four per cabinet A,B,C,D. Power is 250kW per post, no sharing. Gravity can charge at 225kW. Air at 50kW limited by Wonderbox hardware.

V3 + MagicDock: these rare stations are fully-compliant CCS1 capable chargers that have a built-in adapter. Any EV can charge here using the Tesla app. Same charging rates as V3

V4 Post, V3 cabinets: post design is larger, taller, with a longer cable making it more friendly to cars with charge ports not in the Tesla position. Currently has same 500V charging voltage being powered by V3 cabinets.

V4: when they update the charging cabinets to V4, these dully armed and operational charging stations will supply up to 1000V. These will allow Air to charge at up to 350kW and Gravity to reach 400kW speeds.
The only V3 limitation is that at Tesla Supercharger stations with both V2 and V3 at the station, Tesla will not allow any 3rd party at the station at all, despite the fact that the V3s should theoretically be working. I think this is the main sticking point that's going to catch people up

There's that, but there's also some V3-only stations that are not authorized for non-Teslas too. Some suspect that Tesla is leaving those out because they're busy stations and don't want to impact Tesla drivers too much, but that's just a guess.

The black wheel arch trim in the driver side rear sags slightly relative to the black trim piece on the driver side rear door. You can push it up by hand to match it but it doesn't stay.

Same thing on ours. I'm going to ask the mobile tech if anything can be done about it.

Same issue with mine. The mobile tech ordered new ones and is going to swap them out and see if it helps. The techs are going for a week long Gravity training session next week and will return afterwards to do the work. They are also swapping out my center console (sliding glass door mechanism doesn't work correctly--noted at delivery) and they are also swapping out the interior driver door panel--the plastic bin part was scratched during transport)....The tech is going to learn/practice these swaps at the training so my car won't be the guinea pig! 😅

These are the types of things that made me swear I'd never buy a 1st year EV again (like I did with my First Edition Mustang Mach-E). They can be frustrating.

But then I remember how much fun I *still* had with the Mach-E from day 1, and wouldn't have wanted to miss any of that. So as long as the car drives OK, it's worth putting up with some early growing pains. (Well, up to a reasonable point.) Although those were nearly always software, not physical things (with one notable exception).

I ordered my GGT in June after the 1st wave, so I'm hoping they have many of these things figured out for the 2nd wave. Or... maybe they'll be so wrapped up in dealing with higher volume production at that point with less individual attention, and it'll be even worse! 😖😄

Not a Gravity issue, but I was really unprepared for how incredibly awful the HERE Maps in the nav system are.

Yesterday, it directed us down a one-way street near our house in the wrong direction.

Today, it would not allow us to turn right onto the street with our house.

I've corrected both of these on the HERE Map Creator, but we live in the middle of the densest populated city in New England; it's not like they shouldn't have accurate mapping data. CarPlay cannot come soon enough.
I wish they'd simply dump "HERE" mapping and go with Google Maps. It's updated constantly, it's accurate as all heck and I've never, ever, had a problem with it in my Model X. Go with a proven mapping software and forego whatever 'discount' Lucid is getting for "HERE" and make the whole car perform better. Why have customers complaining over something so easily remedied? Just do it.

More than any other issue with the Air, the persistent difficulties reviewer after reviewer had with getting into the car created a huge negative reputational overhang that still echoes through many discussions about Lucid.

It is deeply disturbing to see the reports mounting of similar issues with the Gravity. Lucid needs to get to the bottom of this and NOW.

It's no answer to say, "well, just use this or do that" instead of using the key fob or the key card Lucid provided for the purpose of getting into the car.
Exactly. If they know one or the other don't work, then why would you give it to customers? This is one issue that should be addressed and solved within a months time, once it appears more than a few cars. This issue is scary. What if there were someone stalking you in a dark parking lot? You move quickly to your car to get in, and you can't? No escape? No way to get out of a real dicey situation? This is a lawsuit waiting to happen, as this is a scenario that is very likely to happen at some point. You've got to be able to get in a vehicle in seconds and also to be able to drive away, in seconds.....NOT minutes.

Does anyone else have a bug/issuewhere the system time is 3 minutes off? Specially 3 minutes fast. Changing times zones or any of the resets doesn't change it as it is likely getting time from a NTP server somewhere but why is it not the same time as every other networked device?

My sense is that Google Maps won't let a manufacturer add their own touches to the system. For example, Lucid's display of the region that you have the range to get to without charging is perhaps not possible if they adopt Google Maps. Whether the flexibility is worth the tradeoff of using a different mapping provider is up to you.

Currently, the ones that seem the most prevalent/confirmed by Lucid are:

1) Key fob issues, access and/or inability to put car into gear - Confirmed by Lucid with a fix coming soon
2) Possible key card issues, similar to above, but this seems limited to a few vehicles
3) Keep/Pet mode - confirmed by Lucid as not working currently
4) Erroneous error reporting when first starting the vehicle - Confirmed by Lucid with a fix coming soon
5) Camera error - no cameras available, fixed by performing a vehicle reset (brake + X + Mic)
6) Loss of sound/connection for 3rd party apps, fixed by a profile switch

Others which may be unique include:

Frunk not operating properly (no surprise there)
Misaligned top spoiler on trunk (I suspect this is actually a design choice since every single vehicle looks the same)
3rd row mechanism not aligned properly
2nd row not folding flat
I had two reservations for Fisker Ocean and also invested about $100K into that disaster. I followed the debacle very closely as it unraveled. This list of issues here is a longer list than what Ocean came out with. It’s kind id shocking that after such a long delay in the release, they still have these issues. Like Pet mode not working? WTH Is this? Did they actually kill a few of their customers’ dogs before it became apparent that the feature wasn’t working. How did it get released like this? I wonder if the previous CEO was canned because he refused to release the Gravity with all these issues. He seemed to be a decent guy.

Other than the key fob issue listed above, none of the others seem all that bad or can be fixed within a few months IMO. Hopefully the key fob issue can be resolved with a software patch.
Pet mode not working is not a big issue? This one feature alone is why my family is interested in this vehicle.

Shockingly, Rivian navigation knows which Tesla SCs are compatible with either an adapter or have magic dock, so there’s no need to guess. I would expect this info is available via Tesla, so there should be no surprises. As well, the “in use” info is near real time with SCs on Rivian navigation, vs EA, etc where it’s always a crapshoot.

On my R1S, I filter everything but Tesla SCs. In 13 years of driving EVs, I’ve really never found a charging station more convenient than a Tesla SC.

You do realize Tesla doesn’t use Google. They use mapbox for navigation along with a Google image overlay.

I was driving home last night and the I-405 was closed in one direction for night works . As I was heading towards it I was wondering why the navigation was telling me to get off. Sure enough, it knew the freeway was closed so it seems to be updating quite often.

Is there a “soft” reset and a “hard” reset for the Gravity? I can find that in the manual. I know there’s a difference for my X and my R1S. You’re not supposed to do the hard reset often, but the one time I had to, it worked.

Tesla has the worst navigation I’ve ever used. Maybe they use Mapquest or something…. 😂Rivian was a close second until recent update to Google. Rivian is solid now.

I literally have an uber driver phone holder so I can use Waze in my X. Pretty awesome for a $100k car…not. One reason I am excited for CarPlay in Gravity. I don’t really care for CarPlay but I need legit navigation like Waze/Google.

I just find it funny that people come in here with such demands and then actually don’t know the facts.

Maybe LA/ CA in general is just better planned navigation / mapping wise but I really don’t have an issue with HERE. I think where Google does stand out is probably with the more obscure areas and maybe more POI information but nothing to make me come in here kicking and screaming that Google is WAY better than HERE.

From @hydbob earlier in this thread, I’ve added to it (don’t have my GDE yet just summarizing other owners):
1) Key fob and key card issues, access and/or inability to put car into gear - Confirmed by Lucid with a fix coming soon, customer service pushing 3.2.1 to car again seems to fix it? Very common issue
2) Keep/Pet mode - confirmed by Lucid as not working currently
3) Erroneous error reporting when first starting the vehicle - Confirmed by Lucid with a fix coming soon, rare issue?
4) Camera error - no cameras available, fixed by performing a vehicle reset (brake + X + Mic), rare issue?
5) Loss of sound/connection for 3rd party apps, fixed by a profile switch, rare issue?
6) GPS not recognizing location of vehicle, thus far maybe only one owner?
7) HUD oval artifact, worse for some owners than others and possibly improved by seating height or HUD brightness but very common issue
8) Tow hitch install difficulties, tow hitch software not active yet anyway so don’t use
9) 2nd row seat rattles if not flush with eachother
10) 2nd row seat not returning to position? Maybe reset or lying second row flat and then sitting up again would fix? One owner report so far
11) wireless charging errors, somewhat common
12) suspension system errors (2-3 owners reported, 2 resolved with reboot or sleep, 1 requiring service)
13) no power delivered to some 110v outlets?

Others which may be unique include:

Frunk not operating properly (no surprise there)
Small frunk trim piece dislodged on two vehicles
Misaligned top spoiler on trunk (likely design choice since it’s the same on all vehicles)
3rd row mechanism not aligned properly
2nd row not folding flat

I’m hoping we can help Lucid address these as quickly as possible by making this a repository for reports and resolutions. I don’t see Marqie listed as being able to tag anymore so do mods know of any other Lucid rep on here we could tag?
I’m sorry to say this, but this is not insignifiant, provided how few Gravities have been manufactured so far and a small percentage of the owners being on this forum. Someone pushed Licid to release this vehicle in an unfinished condition. This is will do nothing to improve the reputation of the company.

So maybe it is geography, but whatever “algorithm” is used to actually pick the fastest route is also a— backward in my Tesla X.

The other key difference for me is traffic/accident/construction info. Seems much more real time on Waze and Google and has saved me tons of hours on road trips.

Generally, in just going around town, it doesn’t matter, but if I am going 1+ hours and on highways, it’s an issue for which I have little patience.

I expect I will use my phone in the Gravity until CarPlay is available, and I am okay with that.

At this point, you could tell me there are bugs where the windows, frunk, trunk don’t open, there’s no infotainment, third row will come in the mail, and it just has a speedometer and I’d still pay $140k for my GDE NOW. Give it to me baby! Please…

I took the car to Cars and Coffee in Rancho Santa Fe today. I had the frunk and rear hatch open for a few hours. I tried closing the rear hatch with the key and the button and neither worked. I closed it manually, but the car still showed it open. I tried pressing the button on the dash to open and close it, and when I did, the frunk opened. No, I didn't press the wrong button by accident. I actually then tried both buttons and both worked the frunk. I closed the hatch again manually but the light stayed on. When I got to my next stop, the hatch opened and closed correctly. Also, driver side rear seat requires me to press the button twice for it to move forward. Just weird crap.

Respectfully, expecting a brand-new, ground-up vehicle, especially one this complex to launch without any bugs is simply unrealistic. Every major automaker, including Tesla, Rivian, Porsche, and even Mercedes, has faced similar teething issues with early builds.

The list lays out mostly minor or infrequent software bugs, most of which have known workarounds or confirmed fixes in progress. That’s not indicative of a rushed, unfinished product…its par for the course this early in production cycles.

Yes, Lucid has things to improve (as all OEMs do), but framing this as a reputational catastrophe is a bit dramatic. Let’s allow them time to address the issues as they’ve already shown they’re actively doing before declaring doom.
