I recall reading a post recently that referenced info from a DA that grey VIN assignments might have started. Do we have any confirmation that is in fact true ?

My DA called me yesterday to ask if I had any flexibility with exterior color in case there was a cancellation and he could get me into a car sooner (my current lease is up at the end of May) . So I have a decison to make. Would prefer to wait on my grey color if it is imminent. thx

If you have a lease expiring now with a buy out price set from 3 years ago, won't you want to buy it and sell at a profit anyway since used car prices are insanely high and then you can keep it for a bit and wait for your preferred color?

I was able to extend my lease for 6 months, with an option to extend another 6 months. I am waiting for the Grey, I am told mine would be mid-June - whatever that means.

You can buy a Charge Point charger on Amazon for about $600 If you have 50 amps to hook it up to it will charge the car 40 miles in one hour. If you have less than 50 Amps Amazon has chargers for whatever amperage you have. hooked mine up today.

Hello Bruce - what interior did you choose when you confirmed?

Closing the book on my tracker status. Picked up my AGT at the lucid service center in Costa Mesa earlier this evening. Drove it back to San Diego. What an incredible car.

In response to @FFT above, there have been one or two reports that a DA has said they have started grey and given out 2 (or 4) VINs. My DA, as well as one other customer's DA that I know of, have told us they will email us when they hear from one of their colleagues that a VIN for grey has been issued. I have actually emailed both my DA and his boss to ask if that is indeed true. It has been 36 hours since I emailed them and I have not heard anything. Given the focus over the last couple of months and the weekly conversations, I would be very surprised if my DA and/or his boss did not follow through. It appears a more likely scenario that another DA may have gotten a bit overzealous. They all know what we "want" to hear.

My DA's boss was my initial Lucid rep when I ordered January 2021, so I do know him and he does remember me. The issue with grey has been such a focus, I just can't see them not being more proactive when they do start issuing VIN's in letting people know they are coming.

As far as "grey being imminent", I have stopped trying to figure out what "imminent" and "hopefully soon" mean to Lucid.

Sorted by VIN date. I was looking for color or interior patterns if any. While I see they started with a string of reds, it got more diverse over time, so the question I had about how many colors can they make simultaneously would be at least 3?

I suspect what is happening is that they are painting and storing body panels as quickly as they can with whatever color the paint shop is set up for. They haven’t gotten the mass process for grey or silver down yet. Until they do, there’s no sense holding back on the other colors. They need sales.

I agree, it would not make sense to sit idle at any point unless there are material supply chain issues. They need to produce as many red, white and black cars as they can if they can't get grey or silver right. It does appear they can do all three concurrently.

Nice! Curious about how you negotiated the AZ pick up as I've suggested similar to my DA if it would mean an appreciable difference in timing - what did they tell you? Fun excuse for a road trip! Safe travels, and let us know how the cross country charging goes!

I just told my DA I wanted to take delivery in Scottsdale and it was done. Easy as that.

I am considering doing this myself, let me know what the drive is like.

So far so good! I drove to Lake Havasu City to visit my parents... The speed limit here is 75 and I had the Cruise control set at 81 and lost 60 miles of range
only to find there are NO I mean NO Charging stations here...... LOL I charged at my parents over night 2 miles per hour enough to get me to the closest charging station near here on my way to LA for the weekend.

That's quite a hike. Some notes if you haven't headed over Donner or across northern Nevada before:

• Outside Sac in Rocklin there's an EA at Sierra College, by the Target.
• The drive over Donner can be gorgeous in good weather, and a nightmare in bad. We've been getting snow off and on, and it'll keep doing that for the next week.
• In Truckee the EA charger is by the Save Mart; exit 89S to Tahoe and it's on the right. There's a lot of good food in town, but it is not near the charger and all of Downtown Truckee is pay parking 24/7.
• Northern Nevada is...a dead zone. Truckers especially drive like maniacs, and check the weather for high winds. Dust will eat your paint, and Tumbleweeds will destroy windshields (speaking from experience). Check the weather before heading east out of Reno.
