RESOLVED Door won't open

Saw an article today about how 4 people died in a Tesla Model Y after a horrific crash because they weren't able to open the doors: https://myelectricsparks.com/four-dead-tesla-doors-fail-open-crash-fire/ . It's a pure nightmare because they basically burned alive. The placement of the manual release for the doors in a Model Y is apparently insane.

While an Air shouldn't have that same issue, I'm posting this here because some of the original comments were about how an owner wasn't able to open the door even from the inside. That is a critical safety issue. After reading the article about that Tesla crash I decided to order a lifehammer ("car escape" tool - I'm not recommending a particular brand or anything, there are lots of similar tools). For 9 bucks it seems crazy not to.

According to its manual, some Tesla Model Y have emergency door releases, and some don't. Even when there's one, it takes a few steps. Make sure don't store anything in the rear side door pockets:

That's the problem of relying too much on powered technology and throwing away basic manual mechanical systems.

That happened to me, albeit after I got sideswiped by a Toyota Highlander back in January.

They most likely will have to replace the motor on that handle. It has happened to a few people here before. But not many.
This happened to me this week also.
After a freezing rain during night I think some ice accumulated in all 4 door handles. When I came close to the car, all locks try to open themselves but 3 of them were stuck and made that loud vibrating sound, I was lucky that driver door opened. Drove to my work. In the afternoon when it was not freezing anymore, I tried again to unlock the doors and only the left side passenger handle kept on making the loud vibrating noise, the other 2 handles were OK.
After calling service, they asked me if I could push the handle to the inside; I couldn't, which meant that the handle was broken. Next week they are coming to repair it.
