I am torn about getting the DreamDrive Pro vs what comes standard. I had a question directed to current owners , do the standard DreamDrive comes with Autopilot like on the Teslas?
FSD is definitely not going to happen anytime soon…I do see the value of Autopilot where the car will keep within the lanes on the highway and even on regular streets.

DreamDrive Pro will come with Highway Assist (coming later this year) which is effectively Autopilot, but on highways only. City streets is a separate issue and Lucid hasn’t announced a timeline for that yet.

Standard will not have Highway Assist, likely because the LiDAR hardware won’t be installed, among other things.

It isn’t *just* software, like the FSD upgrade.

I am thinking on upgrading my Pure reservation to a Touring trim. I was planning on doing a Pure Awd in Silver with the DreamDrive Pro . But was thinking on upgrading to the touring in Silver with just the DreamDrive Pro option and metal roof. So other than the extra HP, the real leather what else is different…

Cooled front seats.

is It worth upgrading to the touring?…
That depends. For me, it’s the only way to get the glass roof, so it’s a no-brainer. I don’t particularly care about the extra HP. Cooled seats will come in handy in the summer here in CO.

Since you want the metal roof, it’s less clear.

Another thing to consider: Any Touring order is likely to be delivered first. So if getting the car sooner matters, that could be another advantage.

I'd also want clarity on this. Not providing TACC and Lane Keep Assist with the base functionality would be a deal breaker for me as these features are now standard on $23k Honda Civics. After being a part of the Tesla FSD show for the past 3 years, I personally wouldn't purchase DreamDrive Pro as Lucid is easily 3 years or more away from level 4 autonomy and I believe the rollout of improvements will be slow. I'd love for someone who takes delivery of a car with regular DreamDrive to let us know what features are included and how well they work.

We'll be waiting a while for that, as GTs all come with DDPro standard. And even the first Ts are likely to be delivered to people who opt into Pro.

This is the biggest problem I see with Lucid and it's pricing structure. For a base model that is now $87K to not have cooled front seats seems wrong when lower priced cars have this. We can argue all we want about range \ efficiency but you're paying a premium for that and if too many creature comforts are missing from the base model I don't know if the range \ efficiency alone will sell it.

Yeah, I agree. The Model 3 now has a heated steering wheel, but not cooled front seats. It also doesn't have an auto open/close frunk. It just got that on the trunk a few years ago, after the Y was released. I was very glad to see Lucid didn't take that away on the Pure—yet. But the Pure is a bit more expensive than the 3, so there should be an expectation of some of these features.

Lucid is only claiming eventual Level 3 ADAS for the Air. Unlike Tesla, whose $12,000 "full self driving" option is anything but, Lucid is taking a more conservative -- and honest -- approach to marketing Dream Drive Pro.

They are also adding actual hardware when you order DDPro, unlike Tesla who are merely flipping a software switch.

So resale value should increase for DDPro-equipped cars.

I don't really see the Model 3 and the Air Pure as comparable cars. The Air is a vastly roomier car than even the Model S, much less the Model 3.

I recently did a road trip in a Model 3 and the "FSD" was fantastic. So fantastic that the phantom breaking was out of control and outright dangerous. I think Tesla made a mistake just using cameras alone and now you're effectively paying $12K for software vs. Lucid's $10K for radar, lidarr and software.

Now Elon is saying "FSD by this time next year". Yeah...... right!

I agree. But price-wise, the Pure is sort of in between the Model 3 and the Model S. (At least it was even more so, before the price increases.) So either you see it as an "upgrade" to the 3, as I do, or a slightly cheaper S.

My guess is that if you are a current Model S owner looking for a change, you are likely going for the Touring or GT?

And if you're a sedan guy like me, looking at EVs only (because you are never going back to ICE) you don't have many options in that range below Model S. It's the 3 or stretch it a bit and get the Pure at this point. Everyone else is an SUV or truck. Or is significantly more expensive. Or in a totally different class, like the Bolt or Leaf.

Having features on the Pure that the 3 does not have, then, helps justify the price a bit.

I think Lucid can grab a lot of former Model 3 owners, in other words. Despite the increased price.

This will all change when Lucid gets around to their own version of Model 3, hopefully by the end of the decade. THAT car should end up eating Tesla's lunch.

yah, im trying to figure out what highway assist entails.

based on their website, it seems that regular dream drive includes a lot of the lane assist, cruise control, etc, with no mention of highway assist. but and in their manual, highway assist is under the "ADAS -> Dream Drive" section. Not sure if they are grouping normal and Pro functions together though.

Same thought process as me - it just depends on what's important to someone(I currently drive a Model 3 and don't want a crossover either). I'm not willing to spend $100k on a car, which rules out the S and more expensive Air options. I also want actual technology/engineering and a bit of luxury, so cheaper sedan options that are thrown together by legacy auto don't make the cut. I'm indifferent to the looks, extra storage space, and certain other things. I like the Lucid 400mi range, what I've read about the ride quality, and interior setup over the Tesla options. That said, I require Autopilot or an equivalent. My car only gets used for a 30 mile each way daily commute, but a fair bit of that is driving in the dark (I have an astigmatism) and I want the added safety of the car driving itself with me to oversee it, not the other way around. I understand many will complain about Autopilot, but for me it's been over the past 3 years and makes my commute significantly less stressful.

Wow thanks for all the responses. I decided to upgrade my reservation from the pure AWD to the Touring with just the 21” wheel option without DreamDrive pro. I have a Tesla now and paid for the FSD hardware with the monthly subscription..I could never get my safety score to 98%..Therefore I waisted my money 😞….Autopilot is nice but not needed, because I do not drive that much.. The 360 camera with the Blindspot image in the control panel is nice but not that Important. I just don’t see the value in spending $9k for a feature that will never come to age…I am still under a $100k with the touring which means the wife will be happy 😎😎
