Constant issues with Lucid SW

2.5 months in and already sick and tired of my Lucid air. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful car, great ride but the UI and the SW suck. It starts with locking/unlocking doors with iPhone which 90% of times doesn’t work, then you get in the car and the seat doesn’t move from easy entry position, then SiriusXM channel line up is gone, then you turn on the cruise control but you can’t see your actual speed anymore because steering wheel blocks it…
I really don’t know if I can deal with this for another 33.5 more months.
Help…

I'd suggest switching to the fob, as it's been more reliable for me. Others will chime in with how to make PAAK more reliable with your iPhone.

Nuke reset and see if that fixes the seat easy entry thing and re-enable it. Mine works 100% of the time. Keep fob in pocket. Raise steering wheel. Totally disagree on UI and software sucking, like why? Totally useless comment to just say “software sucks”. I do agree the passive unlock feature is inconsistent and will likely never fully work 100% of the time, they changed the whole system with Gravity. If the door handle doesn’t present though, just push it in and then it should unlock. You may need to repair your phone, see @Bobby video on how to do this on YouTube. Search for Bobby on the Air.

There are some easy solutions to some of these. First - use the fob. I've used the fob exclusively for 3 years and it works perfectly. Also, if you cannot see, adjust your seat and/or steering position so you can. As for the radio, occasionally the software updates do mess it up a bit in terms on continuation, but it will be fixed.

Hey hey passive unlock has been 99% reliable for me. Knock on wood.

Can’t comment on easy entry as I never setup. Might give it a try

Thanks for reply. Regarding the seat and steering position, this is what I’m doing right now but I’m not comfortable with the seat position nor the steering position. The radio issue has nothing to do with the SW update. I had so far two SW updates but many more radio issues.
It’s just upsetting…

Then what is the point of adjustable steering wheel if I can’t adjust it to position I’m comfortable with??? Then just fix it to a position and be done with it. I understand they can’t change the dashboard position anymore but they could rearrange the display so it wouldn’t look like this.
Don’t get me started with the SW and UI? Why can’t I have CarPlay on glass cockpit and radio screen on pilot panel at the same time? Why can’t I pin the radio screen I like to pilot screen? Every time I have to go through different screens to get to my favorite channels. What were these people doing in the I don’t know how many years of making Lucids?

OMG

So that you can adjust it to a position you’re comfortable with. This cannot be the first car in which you’ve had to make adjustments for the wheel and the screen. I literally had to do this in my Mazda too. Is it mildly annoying? Sure. But it isn’t the end of the world.

Works fine for me. Catering to people of all sizes and preferences is hard. Some people like to sit low and back. Others like to sit right on top of the wheel.

This is, incidentally, part of what test drives are for.

Okay.

Why can’t I have CarPlay on glass cockpit and radio screen on pilot panel at the same time?
Because that’s not an available feature today.

Nothing. Nothing at all. They’ve never done anything. You’re right. All the software that doesn’t exist is the only software that matters at all.

Was that what you were looking for with this post?

Or did you want help learning how to use the software and learning about your car?

The latter approach will certainly land you better responses here. But if you just want to rant into the void, okay.

We’d love to help. If you want it.

I was irritated by the view to the display at first. It requires a higher wheel and lower seat position than I'm accustomed to. But I got used to it and it's fine.

Same with the fob/phone. I keep them both with me so I don't know which one is doing the work, but I occasionally get delays, and I don't think there's a provision for, say, popping the trunk lid from a distance if one of my kids gets to the car ahead of me and has stuff to load. On the other hand, I think the latest update (which included some kind of Bluetooth refinement) improved the responsiveness of the car. That's anecdotal, not scientific.

Right now my biggest remaining software complaints are that Sirius XM, which isn't actually satellite radio, sh*ts the bed too often. Slightly better with WiFi turned off (so there's no buggy handoff across networks), but still pretty poor; and that the navigation doesn't manage favorites very well (not a bug, just a feature I'd like).

No, I was just wondering why the UI and SW is in this type of mess. And honestly, I think it was mainly because nobody really complained. Everybody has just found a workaround (like carrying the fob and have an extra pack of battery 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ in the car) or moving the steering wheel all the way up and moving the seat all the way down…
Kia EVs for a third of price have a more stable UI.

Yes, exactly. Sirius is not over satellite. It’s some sort of internet based communication, which craps all the time. I have Sirius since 2005 and in many different cars, cheap and expensive, they always just work unless if I was in a tunnel or something.

Not from what I saw in Kyle Conners recent review of the EV6. It was laggy and in his words "it sucks"

I feel you OP and I agree with you on a lot of what you said. I don't think you have an unpopular opinion, the UI and SW are indeed subpar. I'm also a new owner and I've already made posts like this. When you ask for help with mobile key and people say "use a FOB like your grandpa did", that is them agreeing with you.

But you have to remember where you are, and your posts come off more like a rant that people aren't going to be able to rally around. Nor can anyone really do anything about it other than hope right along with you and try to determine user error.

I do agree the passive unlock feature is inconsistent and will likely never fully work 100% of the time, they changed the whole system with Gravity.
What did they change with Gravity?

What did they change with Gravity?
The whole keying system is different. Different and more normal looking fob with buttons, different sensor for it in the car, different wireless protocol. Different protocol for mobile key too (at least so rumor says).
