Rather than start a new thread, the title of this one is perfect, we'll just continue it.
New Lucid owner here, I've had my 2024 Air GT for a couple of months now. I've used Blendmounts for mounting radar detectors in my cars for quite a while now (last car was an E92 M3), it places the detector in a great position and you also tend not to notice it when it's right next to the mirror. So I went shopping for a mount for my new Lucid and an Escort radar detector (MAX 360 MKII) with the magnet mount. At that point, Blendmount did not recommend a fitment on their website, and so I dropped them a note just expressing my interest in such a mount if they would ever support that car.
They did respond to my note, and asked if I would be willing to measure the rear view mirror stem with a pair of digital calipers. I did so and sent them the measurements, and their R&D team suggested that I try the BMG-2039 mount. I ordered the mount and installed it, and it mounted perfectly.....with the exception that it just barely interfered with the mirror movement to the point where I could not adjust the mirror satisfactorily. The stem on our mirrors is very short.
I did point Blendmount towards these forums and that one of the members had been able to get a mount (for a Valentine detector) - BV1-2024 - to work. Their response there was that their R&D team was not satisfied with that fitment (not sure why). I will confess, the fit from the BMG-2039 mount was so close to working that I was tempted to keep it and take a file to it to remove just a bit of metal, but those are expensive mounts to be doing your own R&D work......
Blendmount was great during this process, and accepted the order back with a full refund, no problem. At this point, they were listing the Lucid Air as "incompatible" They did say that I was free to order a mount as mentioned in the forums, simply to put 'Custom Job' where it asks what vehicle it is for (or the order gets flagged).
Part of my reason for posting was to pass on my experiences....but also: Blendmount did mention that the vehicle will stay as 'incompatible' "unless we can find someone locally with the vehicle to test on. And even then, there's no guarantee we will be able to make a mount for the mirror." SO - if there are any owners that really want a Blendmount, and would be willing to let them experiment on your mirror, the Blendmount offices are in Cotati, CA (a bit of a drive from Atlanta, GA.....). If you would be interested, DM me and I'll pass along the appropriate contact info.
BTW, pretty easy to direct wire this car, just took 15 min, some flat wire (like the Escort direct wire kit), and a fuse tap. Thank you, Forums!!
