App is slow to wake car

What troubleshooting steps have you done?
It’s not on my end.. it worked well then started to slow and now it times out on 2 out of 3 attempts. Full signal in garage for WiFi and cell. All updates complete for car and app. It’s a lucid issue.. same with phantom front sensor faults that turn on and off within 10 seconds randomly on the highway.. same as all the wind noise due to faulty door seals…. Annoying but not a show stopper. Lucid will improve as it matures

So none?

What continues to baffle me is how the car wakes up the garage like an overeager puppy if I walk in with my phone “key”, but is generally slow when out and about. I assume that Bluetooth is Bluetooth is Bluetooth regardless of location…

Incidentally, the fact that wake-up via Bluetooth is fast in the garage but wake-up via app is dead slow suggests that cell connectivity issues are a problem. Maybe the cell modems in the cars are wonky?

Via app is not Bluetooth. It is SMS.

Sorry - I ought to have been more clear - I think something may be wonky with the _cell_ modems in the cars.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but this is really becoming an issue for me. I live in AZ and really want to cool the car down before I go out to it. Lately in two different locations, it just refuses to wake the car up. I wait until it times out, kill the app, try again, and still no joy. One of the two locations when I get to a different place (car hasn't moved) but I've got 5 bars of 5G, so it's not a coverage issue. Should I be taking the car in to service. Is this really what other people are seeing, and if so, do we think this will be fixed with an OTA or is it bad hardware?

Nope, for me it works 100% of the time now. Note that it's not just your phone that needs service, the car needs AT&T LTE to receive your commands. Have you given your car the ol' Air logo reset recently by any chance?

What service do you have? And what version of software is the car on? The car uses AT&T. But yes, this doesn’t seem typical. It would be worth seeing if customer care or service have any ideas.

I have T-Mobile, but looking at the AT&T coverage map, it looks strong everywhere where I have a problem. I haven't done the logo reset recently, but I just did the OTA update over the weekend, so I assume that does the same thing.

It does not. In fact, a logo reset is often a good idea after an OTA update. Many of us do that “as a rule,” so to speak.

I always carry my FOB and my iphone with me and the car wakes up great. I went into my garage with just the iphone and the car didn't wake up and open the car. I had to manually use open the doors on the APP. There was an explanation that there is 2 separate bluetooth connections one for carplay and the other for the car functions. No matter what I try to get the car to show up I still only have only XXX show up.
So what are the steps to get the car XXXX to show up?

Bobby made a video which includes steps for resetting / setting up the mobile key on an iPhone:

OK, I did the logo reboot. I'll take it out to the same location later and see if that makes a difference. If not, I guess I'll call service.

Maybe a little better, but still doesn't work in some locations. I must not understand how this works. My understanding is that my phone sends an SMS message to the car. if that is the case, and my phone has a strong cellular connection, how is it that it doesn't work in one location, but if I move (not the car, the car stays in the same location) it will work. I could understand if the car didn't have a good AT&T connection, but since the car didn't move, that didn't change.

What am I missing?

Honestly, you’re not missing anything. The app functionality of waking the car is hit or miss. I have not had good luck on some days when it refuses to wake up no matter how long I wait, and other days it wakes instantly.

But here's what I don't understand. In a particular location (the 18th tee box of a golf course), it never works (I make sure I have a good cell connection. But when I get close to that hole's green, it always works. The car hasn't move, just me. How does that make sense?

Again, it doesn’t. It is normal for us to try to quantify and understand the specific conditions when the car did versus did not wake up. Unfortunately, I have found it to be rather random. That’s very hard for us to come to terms with.

I use mobile key almost all the time. Most of the time it works ok and the car unlocks after I approach it, although it’s usually slower than it should be. Once in a while, however, the car won’t unlock at all no matter how long I wait. Every time that happens, I check the Bluetooth connections on my iPhone and the Lucid mobile key is always disconnected. I simply tap it to connect it, and the car unlocks almost immediately. Every time.

Whether this is a Lucid problem or an Apple problem or a combination of the two - I don’t know. But something’s not right with the Bluetooth connection between the car and the iPhone.

I've always thought that the wakeup time could be inconveniently slow. I didn't have a personal frame of reference though so I finally came here to see if it was just me or if that was normal. In the same location with the same strong signal strength, it can take 10 seconds to wake, or over a minute. Every time is different.

I do wonder though, is this typical in general? Like, for example, does Tesla and Rivian have the same rough time to wake the car?

UI on this vehicle is piss poor. It's sad. Looks beautiful. It's way more comfortable than teslas, but where is the market research to equal functionality to that of tesla.

I got lured in by the android auto in the pipeline but that's never going to happen. Let's not kid ourselves. My car unlocks when I don't have a key on me. Doesn't unlock when my phone is in my pocket. The key fobs are spotty at best. It's frustrating. Only have had the car for just under three months
