Anyone else encounter a strange tear in seat upholstery?

I haven’t actually seen any reports of a rip in the leather. Maybe one.

All the ones I’ve ever seen were about Purluxe.

I know that the PureLux material is the greatest source of forum complaints. So, perhaps the answer to my question could just focus on the PurLux material, at least for now. I'm just trying to figure out the 'hit and miss' nature of these complaints.

Hello All,

I've had my lucid air pure for a out 3 months now. I just discovered this tear on my driver's side seat. It's strange in that I do not carry anything sharp in my pockets and have no recollection of anything being caught. It's very cleanly torn along the perforations of the leather. The leather there seems particularly thin and under high tension. Has anyone else encountered a tear of this style and location?

Have multiple tests in the pure lux — not good. I should have gotten leather never seen bad interior like this before on a 80 k lux car

I have leather and noticed this tonight on my passenger seat back. My AGT has 9900 miles on it. It looks like a scratch, but I believe it is actually a crack forming.

On closer view, does not look like a surface scratch. Looks like the material is failing along that line -- like cracking from the bottom up.

The Lucid Purluxe artificial leather offering is an extremely fragile material. I had a tear in mine that was replaced by Lucid. I can already see wrinkles that I fear will lead to a tear. I have never had this happen in any car I have ever owned - I am very fastidious about maintaining my cars.

Unless there is a change to the Purluxe offering, it's best to go with the real letter offering. Not noticed any complaints about the material.

I have real leather, so I believe this may be a more widespread issue than just the PureLux

If I had the option to skip the perforation and only have heated/massaging seats, without ventilation, I would. Perforations are a borderline design flaw to begin with, but at the thinness levels Lucid uses, it’s absolutely no surprise. In all of the gravity press photos, if you’re eagle eyed, you’ll see that the Yosemite purluxe seems especially prone to tearing (I’ve seen two tears), and in the NYC showroom last week, their floor model gravity had two massive tears in the driver seat. They said a guy sat on it with key rings, but a seat that you can’t sit in with jeans on is just poorly designed. My wife’s Acura RDX has full grain leather 3 times as thick, and no tears despite not taking care to protect them. Leather is quite heavy, so I suspect lucid uses the thinnest leather they can for efficiency purposes.

100% agree, I had my seat replaced twice now, and they kept accusing me of studded jeans or my keys poking thru…I def don’t have studded jeans and I don’t carry any keys! 95% of the time I’d say im
Wearing lululemon so def a QA issue

I am debating whether to take mine for service now or to wait a bit to see if it gets worse. I recently bought my AGT used and have already had it into service to fix a long list of items, so I’m reluctant to bring it back in again so quickly.

I do have mobile service coming to do a follow up service for a rattling parcel shelf that they were unsuccessful in fixing on the first attempt, so I may have the mobile service person take a look at the seat too. I also have noticed a second spot on the sea that is also showing the same mark, so I believe this is likely due to the thin leather.
