Anyone else encounter a strange tear in seat upholstery?

I guess I should call service. Mine did last 33,000 miles but I've had front seats last over 200,000 miles. The Purelux is Bounty tough.

Update:
Called them, explained where it was on the base, guy said it is known to them that this material with perforations is susceptible to this and they would order a new base cover and replace free of charge. I asked if there is a revision to the part and he said yes but the material itself is still going to be susceptible...
Car is 11 month old 2025 Air GT with only 6,000 miles...
Good that Lucid quickly rectified the issue. My leather seats in my 83,000 mile Tahoe GT have a beautiful patina. And have only gotten better with age. Sorry to hear PureLux has given some problems.

I'm pleased they're owning the issue, if they didn't that would have put me off buying again tbh...
When I ordered the car I went back and forth over purluxe vs leather and settled on the purluxe because it then came with the basic light headliner which I wanted whereas the leather came with the dark alcantara. I'm not keen on this vegan pleather bandwagon nonsense but given I had no issues with it in the prior Tesla I felt it would at least last... Lesson learned!

Well they are warrantying the seat cover even with 34,000 miles. They can't do it until February, which is fine with me, I'm in no rush. But they say they will need the car for a week. Not sure I get that. Seat cover should be there before car arrives. Work should be a couple of hours, why a week?

Yes our Pure seats were replaced at ~42,000 miles for same issue. Zero hassle with Lucid.

Just had my driver seat replaced yesterday by mobile service. I'm really happy that Lucid took care of it without question, but I worry a little bit about how they are going to hold up for the remaining 29 months of my lease.

This is what happened on the driver's seat (rear and bottom bolster) after only 11k miles and me being careful. No sharp objects in my pockets.

I do wish I had gotten the real leather seats.

That said, at this point, this is my only actual sufficient worry about the car (so far, fingers crossed), especially now that the lease return charge issues have been addressed. Everything else is minor quibbles and software quirks that will hopefully continue to be addressed by OTA updates, and in no way detract from how much I absolutely LOVE driving this car as often as possible.

I have a bad tear also . They said 1000.00 to replace seat . No warranty

Hello All,

I've had my lucid air pure for a out 3 months now. I just discovered this tear on my driver's side seat. It's strange in that I do not carry anything sharp in my pockets and have no recollection of anything being caught. It's very cleanly torn along the perforations of the leather. The leather there seems particularly thin and under high tension. Has anyone else encountered a tear of this style and location?

Wow, just about the same place and tear as mine (2024 Lucid Air Pure). I have had the car for 18 months and it has 16,500 miles on it and I am the only driver. I noticed that there were swipe marks in the area several weeks ago and stopped wearing my wallet in my back pocket, no evidence of tearing at that point. Today, I noticed this tear. I checked all my pants and I do not have any rivets (jeans) in the pockets to create this. When I get into the car my butt does rub on this area but when I sit this area is even with my left lower back (above my back pocket) which does not touch it. The passenger side which does get use is fine. Obviously this material is a little fragile for getting sat on a lot. I mean 18 months and pretty low miles per month and this car is not cheap, hmm does not seem right. Anyway, I'll see what they have to say. Thanks for posting!!

Further to my post back in November...
Lucid got he seat base cover in and came to do the install at my home, but when they arrived I noticed the side bolster had torn some time in the past few days. So we agreed they would come back with that and do both at the same time.
The material is definitely problematic. Only 6k miles on the car...
Unless they fix the material I'll most likely return the car at the end of the lease and get one with real leather instead of keeping this one...

Yeah, I just noticed yesterday that the purelux on my driver's seat is cracked again. I had to get it replaced once already, after 8 months of ownership. This time, we seem to have lasted 5 months. This is a problem when I think about buying out the lease. I am leaning that way, but knowing that I'll have cracked seats after the warranty is out is a downer...

I 100% intended to buy my lease at the end, I got a fantastic lease. But now I'm on my 3rd glass roof in 5 months, and about to have half my door handles replaced. Only have 2700 miles. I planned to own the car 8 years, but I cannot imagine having it a day past warranty now, or even the lease. Which sucks, because its a killer car when its doing car stuff!

Yeah I expected problems, but I was hoping that they would all be sorted during the lease, either manufacturing snafu's or sub standard parts.
But if the replacements keep failing because they are the same part, not revised ones, then it's a problem...

Service has been transparent with me, they are having some part supplier issues. The first replacement roof ordered for me was rejected by service because the weatherproofing wasn't correct. The third was installed perfectly, then warped when the weather got warm. My very first roof was 100%, but damaged during a service visit. Growth problems I suppose.

guess I’ll join the torn seat club. 7,500 miles. Seems it will be covered under warranty though. But like another poster mentioned, long way to go on the lease. Hope the new seat cover holds up.

When I called in my rip on the bolster they denied it was their fault blamed me for getting with something sharp .it took 18 months and this forum to get them to own up to the issue .I am scheduled for May after getting rescheduled from April. I wanted to thank all the owners that came here and pointed this out. so here are my pictures for anyone else to use.

Had my driver's seat replaced at 11k miles. I'm only at 17k miles now and it's tearing again already, though I've been really super careful with it.

I really wish I had gotten the leather. I've never had a seat tear like this.

I'm open to any suggestions for a good seat covers that don't look too obnoxious and don't kill the comfort of the seats. Because I didn't really want to have to be calling service at come out and replace my driver's seat every 7-10k miles for the next 2 years of my lease.

You trying to tell us you weren’t wearing your sword everyday?

Just before my one year 10,000 mile service on my 2025 Pure my driver seat developed the same tear that’s been shown multiple times in this thread. They took care of it no problem under warranty, but it definitely makes you think about a long-term issues if you’re not under warranty. I never have anything sharp in my pockets and nothing on my pants that would cause that.

Picked up my Luci AT 2024 on 3/26/2026. Today found same type of slit. Drivers flank cushion. 19k on it.
