Air Version 2.8.30

Issues so far:
After update Frunk no longer opens, well it opens a bit but if you try and open it -mine isn’t powered- it feels like something is going to break so I got it closed and stopped trying. How a software update can phuck this up is a mystery to me.
Also key fob not found randomly flashes on the screen with fob in my hand, pocket or seat while parked or in motion.
Logo reboot and new fob battery didn’t resolve either.
1st available service appointment for Frunk is mid May.
I’m convinced the new Lucid tagline “ We’re not happy until you’re unhappy”

Updated a few days ago. My Bluetooth phone connection has been "robust" since updating. For the last few months, phone calls will work via BT, I run an errand and it stops working. I'll reset the car and it works again until my next stop. It was very irritating! Keeping my fingers crossed this issue is solved--probably wishful thinking.

Here's some insight as a software engineer of 30 years who have seen and written more than my share of release notes. This is a 0.0.x release. It's super minor maybe as minor as simple typos and one single solitary notification for a specific user case. They probably wasn't even going to release it but decided for whatever reason like consolidating the number of update branches just for simplicity. The one and only thing that I don't like are the release notes as they are non existent on the customer side. That tells me their engineers are probably mostly overseas with terrible English that would be very evident in release notes and embarrassing and lucid is probably too small to have a dedicated release manager state side. Such is the state of software engineering even in silicon Valley.
Your post certainly describes your hypothesis. I disagree with your conclusion, however we are given a perfect case in point.

Just came out of a Taycan into Air Touring two weeks ago....great decision, loving the car! Been a Porsche guy for years....911s, Panamera, but Taycan is underwhelming. Lucid wins on range, charging, regen braking and overall performance/fun hands down for me! Not to mention comfort and luxury feel! Maybe getting older also has something to do with it :).
that's funny..i'm actually desperately wanting to get back to my taycan and into porsche again. i've had the same cars (plus a macan!)...and i'm missing the quality of porsche. i've only had my lucid since october and the way i've been treated by service has told me everything i know about how this company is run. I've finally had marqie try to help me but still hasn't resolved the main issue (dd pro has never worked) so there is no way i'd own this car outside of warranty if this is what happens in warranty.

i sold my taycan before ev prices starting crashing so i see now they've cratered so i'm going to just get one again so i can just enjoy the drive. yes, the taycan won't have hands free driving, but at least i won't be paying for it and not getting it. I really wanted to love the lucid and it drives great, but the software and the company's questionnable approach to the car and leaving me feel worse than a kia customer who bought the cheapest kia on the lot has soured me completely from the brand.

Updated normally to 2.8.30 yesterday on my 2023 Air Touring. I notice *no* difference in operation, performance, and display appearance.

So mine updated Tuesday and I noted a difference in available climate settings in the phone app and that there is now a precondition battery option in the phone app. I tried the precondition and it worked fine.
Since then whenever I've looked the precondition button, it is grayed out and says "preconditioning unavailable." This has been the case whether the car is plugged in or not.
Does anyone know the parameters that determine whether or preconditioning is available?

It’s funny the different experiences we have. My service department is awesome. I like every person in it. World class. The car though? Never ending nightmare. Constant headache!

I bought a BMW and honestly their car is so much better than Lucid (except handling and power). It’s what Lucid claimed to be (on the tech level the stuff BMW offers actually works), it’s a design masterpiece. I love it.

But BMW dealership? OMG. Far worse than Lucid! I wish my Lucid service department could fix BMW 😂

Have you tried triggering the frunk to open using the phone app or the fob? I have a separate thread here about how, even though it makes no sense, using the phone or key fob to unlock the frunk would work when the inside button would result in it only partly opening as you describe. Maybe the lock cycles open longer when you do it from outside the car? No idea...

I'm about a week in on this update. My wife and I use Mobile Key almost exclusively, with a card for backup. It's never been good, but this update brought two unwelcome changes:
  1. The car wont unlock until I open the app and explicitly unlock it.
  2. We can't drive off without a PIN. It acts like we used a keycard for entry. The PIN is not masked and it's on a giant screen in the middle of the car - the one time where that would actually be helpful.
  3. My wife tried to use the (only) key and it didn't even let her drive with a PIN. She had to do a steering wheel reset to make it reconsider.
Now I come to think of it, 2 is probably the behavior of Mobile Key not working at all. I should delete the entry from the car and recreate it.

(We're both using different brands on Android phones with different OS versions).

Thanks for reminding me of this. In the past I’ve experienced this. I think you’re right it must be something to do with how long the lock cycles. Just amazing that Lucid can’t fix this or in this case made it worse with a software update.

I was very happy to see the download notes about less useless alarms, but after downloading I still get all the annoying warnings, nothting has changed.
Each morning i have to disable 4 settings again and again, to be able to drive normally without any alarm interruptions. So for me this was a useless update.

Unlocking the car by hitting the button explicitly doesn’t use mobile key, so it will ask for PIN. That’s actually intended behavior.

Next time, try pressing in the door handle instead, and see if it unlocks.

Deleting and adding the mobile key again may help as well.

Oh, and make sure passive unlock didn’t somehow get turned off.

I had a new issue today that I assume was related to the "reduction of unnecessary warnings" but I'm not totally sure. The cross traffic alert started to come up but immediately went back off, but the alarm sound kept going. It would not stop even when I put the car in park. I ended up having to to the Air logo reset. Thankfully I was already in a slow moving line and able to do that without much issue.

Mine did that once a long time ago

Not a problem at our end. My wife's BMW i4 M50 is 3 1/2 years old and she's never had to go to the BMW dealership because everything works perfectly.

At least it doesn't mention robustness: "Updates, Performance Improvements & Optimization. Reduction of unnecessary warnings and improved overall system stability."
Today was my first use of Hands Free after the Reduction update . Much less warnings to pay attention: or was it my imagination?
