Hello Lucid Enthusiasts,

I'm looking to hardwire a GPS tracker into my Lucid, and it requires a constant 12V power source. I want to ensure the installation is minimally intrusive and does not risk voiding the warranty. Could anyone here recommend the best connection point or method for this?

Additionally, if anyone has experience with such installations and could share tips or precautions to keep in mind, that would be incredibly helpful!

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Yeah....I'm confused about the utility of adding a tracker too 🤔
An easy way to track vehicles with a GPS system instead of having to use the app all the time. Maybe it's for a fleet?

Possibly redundancy. I know smart thieves know how to disable built in GPS trackers.

I would just hide an airtag somewhere .

Doesn't the Lucid App do the same thing ?

If you are the owner of the car, the app will provide the car's location. No need to go through the headache.

You don’t want to use a constant 12v power source. If you do, it will eventually kill the 12v battery.

However, the easiest place to access one of the 12v is the rear right of the trunk, where the 12v car charger is. If you lift that trim hi carefully, that car charger is directly wired into the 12v battery underneath it. That is the safest place to tap power.

Just curious, why not use Air Tags from Apple?
Those alert whoever else is in the vehicle one is there and 'you are being tracked'. It happened to me twice (someone planted a tracker on me and my phone alerted me to it). Once you are alerted to it, you can sound an alarm for the air tracker to find it. Knowing this, an air tracker will not be helpful if the car is stolen IMHO.

That is the first I have heard of a air tag telling others they are being tracked.

They used to not, and people were using them to stalk and do other quite horrible things to people.

Android phones will also now detect air tags following you.

It will only alert if the owner isn't present though.

I’d use a fuse box tap in the fuse box under the glove box and make sure whatever you connect has a low voltage cutoff to prevent it from totally draining the 12v battery.

That's how they are designed. To prevent stalking.

I get warned every now and then that my wife's AirPods "have been following me around" when we spend the day together. I always laugh, but it makes me glad to know if someone popped one on my car, or in her purse, we'd know pretty quick.

I installed a Ring auto cam that although it has a usb-c connector, normally plugs in with OBD2 adapter. Cam runs 12v so I used a usb upconverter from Amazon. 5v to 12v. Usb power drops off after a while when car is locked. If cam is off I can check by opening Lucid app which powers up usb again.

My tmo gps needs 12v from obd2 connector but also taps into gps antenna through obd2 port. Doesn't work in Air.

Exactly, plus a thief can make them beep to help them find them. There are hacks online to disable the beeper in the AirTag. Of course, this should only be done for tracking a possession and not for stalking someone. But would be good know the OP's use case for wanting to hardwire something when you can track the vehicle in the app or via AT. Fleet use is the only thing I can think of.
