I was doing a little reminiscing today. I have now had the car for two years and five months and it's at 33,000 miles. As is true with any Internet forum, there tends to be a lot of complaining and negativity here. I would like to address some of the things where I've seen major improvement. This is not to say there isn't room for additional growth and improvement, but the car I'm driving today is significantly better than the car I originally bought. So next time you're about to write a post complaining about something… Consider these:
  1. Boot up time: used to be close to a minute between opening the door and seeing the displays come on. Now it is instant.
  2. Blindspot cameras used to appear after about two blinks. Now they pop right on, and lately seem to be quite clear.
  3. 3-D camera system used to take a while to turn on after starting up the car. Now it is immediate.
  4. Surreal Sound Pro sounded OK to me, now it sounds fantastic.
  5. Fit and finish was a problem with the 2022 model your cars… I had quite a few service visits just to replace trim and line things up. Now the cars are coming off the line with a much greater degree of precision and perfection.
  6. CarPlay didn't exist when I got the car. Now it works very well. (Android users: maybe someday)
  7. There were many software bugs. Now there are very few.
  8. We didn't used to have a logo reset. We had to literally park the car, lock it with the valet key, and wait a while and then get back in and hope things were better. I don't reset the car much, but the logo reset is quite a bit easier.
  9. For a while, there was a huge Air logo taking up 1/3 of the dashboard. Now, the next navigation instruction and media information appear there as they should.
  10. We saw a lot of blowouts on the 21 inch Pirelli tires, although I personally didn't have any. Unbelievable amount of forum traffic about this. Now it seems the tires themselves have been improved and I haven't seen many since.
  11. The glass roof plus bright sun in San Diego made the car very hot, now we have these lovely mesh panels that work well for me and negated the need for an expensive tinting job on the roof.
  12. The car didn't originally have automatic dimming high beam headlights. Now it does.
  13. Drive Drive Pro didn't do much (Highway Assist/Drive Assist didn't exist). Now it does an amazing amount, and hands off driving will be coming.
  14. There wasn't a frunk button on the left panel so I literally had to get in the car and sit down to open the frunk. Now there is one.
  15. The HomeLink menu wouldn't pop on when the reverse camera was on. This caused a HUGE amount of forum traffic and lengthy threads. Now, it does.
  16. There was no Lane Change Assist. Lane Departure Protection did not offer all of the options it has now.
  17. There was no Curb Rash Alert. I thought this was silly when it was introduced, but I now depend on it when parallel parking.
  18. The car didn't have satellite radio at all.
  19. Schedule charging didn't exist.
  20. There was no way to turn the pilot panel off. Now it's just a double-tap away.
  21. HERE navigation was a complete disaster. I won't say it's perfect, and I really don't use it much, but others are reporting that it is significantly improved.
  22. Easy entry didn't exist.
  23. Max AC setting didn't exist.
  24. There was no way to deactivate passive locking/unlocking.
  25. The side mirror didn't tilt down when reversing, now I use that all the time.
  26. RangeXChange didn't exist. I have actually used that once to help a person who is in need.
  27. There was no Creature Comfort or Keep mode. It's actually nice to turn this on if you will be somewhere for just an hour or two on a hot day.
  28. There was no notice that regen was limited.
I'm sure you can think of others that I forgot, but I've never had a car that has been this much improved and transformed during my ownership. I'm thrilled about that. Cheers to Lucid, keep it coming!

I recall those early days well. Today, it stands in stark contrast to what it used to be. Apart from little bugs, I believe that the ability to run multiple applications and possibly a sentry mode would make me content with the UI, along with witnessing the ongoing evolution of DreamDrive Pro.

Anything else added I’d consider a bonus.

Such a great post! I got on board midway through '24 and have already seen tremendous improvements in so many areas. It's truly a dynamic product that keeps on improving.

Well said @Bobby. As I come up on 2 years and 54k miles, I will also attest that things have been bumpy at times but have been smoothing out for a while. And there's no question that those of you/us who dealt with the early issues bore the brunt of the frustration for everyone after us. And I say that knowing full well that you and others had more to deal with that I did. Thank you and all the mods for all your efforts and trailblazing.

Well said!

I sometimes laugh at the folks on here who complain about certain things in their 2025 car. Like “anyone else notice the car took like 5 seconds to wake from the app? Ugghh… can’t believe I paid $130k for THIS” 🙄

I remember picking my dad up at the airport almost 3 years ago now…. April 2022. Car was new. I was happy that it booted up and didn’t take over a minute to do it. Drive home I was just sweating hoping it didn’t pop the dreaded “drive system fault” that I was reading about on the forum back then.

We’ve come a long way, Lucid. I, like Bobby, have totally enjoyed the experience and the ride. Thanks for listening to our feedback (whining 😆) over the years.

A really impressive progress!
I have a question re #27: while the car manual mentions a Keep mode, I have only Creature Comfort Mode on my 25 AT. Was Keep mode canceled?

It’s an option next to creature comfort. When you enable the mode you will see the choice.

29. There was no de-ice mode

30. There were no offline maps or offline nav

31. There was no way to open the trunk from the fob; now there is.

32. There was no rear pedestrian collision protection

33. There was no low beam cornering; this is one of my favorite features

34. There was no automatic headlight leveling

35. You couldn’t play music from a USB stick; now my FLACs sound better than any other source

36. Estimated range on arrival didn’t exist. Now it’s insanely accurate

37. The vehicle keyboard was only peck-typing. Now you can Swipe, use Handwriting and Predictive Text.

38. You now can control the volume at different levels for Phone, Media, Voice assistant, and Navigation, and mute Nav Lady. Good lord, so many threads about not wanting to hear from Nav Lady haha

39. There was no way to reset TPMS or specify your tire size without a service visit. God this was annoying, and I’m so glad they added it!

41. There was no way to turn *all* the lights off in the car (unless you installed Home Assistant, where the integration was more feature-rich than the Lucid-native app 😈)

42. There was no rear parking protection

What else?!

I have a '25 AGT but I purchased based on many things including a friend who got his car in early 2022 and was an early adopter. His "war stories" are similar to those some mention in the thread above. I am presently driving a '22 AGT built in March 2022. Yes, the fit and finish IS better on the 2025, BUT basically everything else about the cars (other than the '25's range that was improved with some hardware changes) are identical -- and knowing where the 2022 started life? Well, that's impressive. In the words of my friend who lived through many of the growing pains...

"This company, this car and this technology is too important NOT to support. Lucid is, IMHO, the only potential long-term serious U.S.-based all-EV competitor to Tesla, and do we really want such an important path forward to be exclusively charted by the whims of Elon Musk? I vote 'no' and, the day that I become so entitled as to bitch about having to wait a few seconds for software in the most state-of-the-art car ever built has to boot up? Well, take me and and shoot me. Imagine if any pioneer of any technology over the history of human existence had as low a frustration tolerance as some of the folks that complain about the most minor of inconveniences? Where would we be now?"

The above was my paraphrasing one of the many conversations he and I had about Lucid and was from back in late 2022 or early 2023 -- after he had his car for less than six months. It took me two more years to get onboard, sell my 2018 Tesla M3P and get my 2025 Lucid AGT. If you are reading this and on the fence? Don't make the same mistake I did. The car is fucking amazing, the Company genuinely cares about things that matter and I really do believe they are passionate and working to make the Air, Gravity (and ultimately Earth) the Best Damn Car(s) on the planet...
