thought everything would be fine, just like the Lucid representative told me — but no. Today, I received a bill in the mail:

• $1,230 – Excess wear and tear

• $650 – Missing charging cable

• $585 – Small dent (see pictures)

I followed everything Lucid told me to do: get a pre-inspection to ensure there were no damages, and repair anything if needed. I ordered the pre-inspection, the inspector came, and the same day I received a report showing $0 charges. The small dent was noted in the report and listed as normal wear and tear — it’s smaller than a credit card or golf ball.

Then came the post-inspection, done by the same company (https://www.autovinlive.com/) but apparently a different inspector. Suddenly, that same dent became “excess wear and tear” and — boom — $585 added to the bill. If the first inspection had flagged it, I would have fixed it immediately for $100 and moved on.

As for the charging cable — when I returned my car, the Lucid rep told me it was mine to keep because it was part of a promotion when I leased the car. I even asked him twice to confirm, and he said “no worries.” So I kept it (though honestly, I have no idea why I’d even need it now). And yet… I got charged $650 for a “missing cable.”

I’ve already called Lucid Financial Services to dispute the charges. Let’s see what happens.

This has been a really negative experience, and I would never lease a Lucid again.

Add this to the pile of negative lease-end experiences. I've started telling people to avoid leasing with this manufacturer.

Likewise. I've already steered a half dozen people away from Lucid.

That "dent" looks like a paint defect to me.

Wow, charging for no cable on a lease return...??? SO if I don't give them back the cable I bought for the $650 credit that I used to buy it, they charge me for it as if it is still new? And what would they do if I never bought the cable to begin with?

Yikes. Definitely worried how things are going to go if/when I turn this car in.

I wonder if I'll get charged for leaving a Lucid accessory (all weather trunk well mat) in the car?

No. Some of us in the early days were given a cable with the car. They later made it an accessory you had to purchase separately. Even if you bought it with a “credit” you should not have to return it. Only if it was included with the car. As it was in my case.

does it matter? The crime is 2 inspections with 2 different outcomes

That would be hilarious if you used a different cable and then hit with the bill missing cable

wow. I hope Lucid steps in and helps you out.

It sounds like Lucid and LFS are still working out the situation between them. I'm sure it'll get worked out. I'm sorry you're in that situation.

Where corporations are involved, if something important is easy to fix, and it doesn't get fixed, its usually an indication that a fix isn't so simple after all. And any time lawyers get involved, everything slows to a crawl. No offense--some of my best friends are lawyers ;)

As a lawyer, I try to stay uninvolved.

What do you mean by that. I don’t get it

This is quite sad. I had similar experience when I returned mine. Can't lease from Lucid again unless they remedy.

Bank of America has a $1 on the stock, they want to make sure it gets there- conflict of interest? Lucid should dump BOA and go with somone else more credible and honest. Giving Lucid a very bad name. They should nip this in the bud right now or they will have much worse PR. Listening lucid executives?

If you want to get out of a contract with someone, lawyers are going to be involved. Then nothing is easy or fast.

I'm saying this appears to be a difficult thing for Lucid to fix, and that undoubtedly lawyers are involved.
