So my 18 month lease is coming to a close in the next 30 days, and I reached out to see if they would negotiate on the "buy-out" for my 2023 Air Touring. Unfortunately they said no, so they expect me to cough up $75k to buy out what is probably a $50k car on the used market. So that's definitely not happening. I'm not sure what Lucid will do with the car with that much negative equity, but I hope the best for them! The only option offered was to lease another one for a tiny bit less than what my existing lease was.

While I think the Lucid Air is an amazing first attempt at a true luxury GT, I can't wait to see what a second gen Air or midsize offers. I'd love to see more sport focused options like bucket seats, rear axle steer, wider/stickier tires, and improved charging curves make it's way down to the non-sapphire Air or midsize.

I think it will create a lot of chaos if they start offering negotiation on the lease and it may not be in the best interest of the bank either. The negotiation may require bank's involvement too. But, yea noone is going to buy a car that's worth 50k for 75k. If they are sending it for auction or wanting to sell it as pre-owned, keep an eye and buy it yourself :)
My lease will be up in 6 months, but I would love to buy a more equipped Air preowned. It will be great if we can create a database here on the vehicle history for those who are returning their leases. That can be really useful for those who look for preowned vehicles. Few years go I sold my alfa romeo to a dealer. Coincidentally, the next owner happened to discuss my car in the owners forum before making a purchase from the dealer and was very much happy when he found out all the details from me regarding the history.
