Gravity PPF & Ceramic Coating

Thanks for the recommendation and vote for confidence for deep reflections, seem they have great reviews!

I have been reading about PPF + Ceramic, maybe I just need to see some cars with PPF / Ceramic to make up my mind

Got quoted 7k for PPF + Ceramic Coating + Window tints for Gravity

10 year warranty, XPEL, experienced shop and installer, ceramic

I don't have much experience with this so looking for guidance
1. Do you need both PPF + Ceramic ?
2. Is the pricing reasonable?
3. Any shops / installers folks can recommend in the bay area?
just check which tint you want .. I'm tinting just the rear window on my Air, will use ceramic tint to cut down on the heat. Highly recommend PPF where you want it and ceramic on the whole car including over the PPF. it's magical.

Better to do the entire car with PPF and also tint all the windows. There are restrictions in some states regarding the front windshield but reality is rarely enforced. I did 70 on the front windshield and I wish I had done 50.

Big +1 to window tints, a bit skeptical about PPF + Ceramic Coating at the moment (mostly because I just haven't got much experience with it), not much time to decide as we start a road trip Monday in the Gravity

OCDetailing in Fremont. They do a great job.
I got a $10k quote for full PPF on the Gravity.
I use Stek PPF, it's also hydrophobic, that plus the Ceramic coating, water will just sheen right off.

OCD is pricey, but they do custom cuts and an excellent job. I've had about 6 cars done by them already. their followup and customer service is excellent. Not shilling for the shop, they just do a good job.

How long do they need the vehicle and how far out were they booking?

Not sure on current wait time, in the past, it usually 3-4 weeks out. They'll probably need the car for a week, and then a few weeks later for a follow up to make sure no bubbles show up.

We dropped our Gravity off at OCDetailing this morning. @TribbleTrouble is, ahem, not getting clear PPF, but something a bit more... special. :)

Joe/Alex will likely do a video of our Gravity being wrapped and/or a mini review, so I'll make sure to post that when it exists.

Hey! I recently got PPF and ceramic coating from Gravity — super happy with it. The shine is amazing, and it's already protecting my car from minor scratches. Water just slides right off! Great service too. Anyone else tried them?
I think you're in the wrong spot, or maybe missed some context (or are an LLM). Can you repeat your question in the form of a limerick?

I have ceramic coated (Opti-Coat) several cars but always hand-washed them because Opti-Coat said not to put the car through an automatic carwash. I finally got tired of hand washing and put Xpel PPF (Ultimate Fusion) on our current Air because it claims to hold up to automatic carwashes. After more than a year of weekly runs through an automatic wash the finish still looks new except for a few minor rock scratches that were beyond the reach of the self-healing properties. No swirls, no discoloration, no detachment -- just a lustrous shine.

This first-time experience with PPF on our Zenith Red Air has led to a decision to apply the same Xpel to both our Gravities.

So, a question:

Does adding a ceramic coat to PPF defeat the purpose of opting for film in order to withstand automatic carwashes? (The Ultimate Fusion claims to be "infused" with ceramic protection, but I have no idea what that really means in terms of effectiveness or durability.)

As one of our Gravities is going to be black, it will probably see a LOT of visits to the automatic carwash.

PPF impregnated with ceramic is not the same as a true ceramic coating.

As for automatic car washes, I don’t know - I always do a touchless hand wash here in SJ

That pricing doesn't look too bad if it truly includes full window tinting. Yes you do want to do PPF and Ceramic Coating. I strongly recommend Deep Reflections in Los Gatos. Alejandro is the owner and he has done many Lucids. My wife's GV60 is there today for its annual ceramic refresh and full detailing. If you go there tell him Bernie sent you and ask for the Lucid discount. Also as Borski said above, Alejandro doesn't use templates; every piece is custom cut to fit. He will cut out the sensors and his wrap on my mirrors and the entire car after 3 1/2 years is still flawless.
I dropped off the DE at deep reflections today, thanks for the recommendation

Everything went great, he seems like a nice guy, he spent about 40 min talking to us answering questions. But seems he’s using Protekto for PPF not XPEL.

Wondering what brand PPF you got done on your car since you used the same shop? And is one better than the other?
