I thought we were friends
Jk haha enjoy the new whip. There’s no one car for every person at every time.
Thanks for the good wishes! I recall in an earlier discussion you mentioned you had some experience of classifying small items as "normal wear and tear" on lease return. Do you have any hints and tips about that? Should I get a "pre-inspection" (before the lease return inspection) by an unbiased party..?
Since I’m assuming you’re in Berkeley like me, I gotta ask — you have any accessories that you no longer have need of? I just began an AT lease and would am looking for goodies to stock my car with, but would prefer to buy used if possible!
Hi J.A.A. - yes I have some LUCID ALL WEATHER MATS and some LUCID CROSSBARS to sell. Not powder coated though. Also, if you have a glass roof, I wouldn't suggest the crossbars, which brings me to... Fragility!!
So regrets? You have a few? Or too few to mention?
Great question. SOOO much good about the car, especially looks and performance. "It's
such a nice car" says my wife. She does not generally like my cars(!).
But the negatives that tipped the balance are twofold:
1) Charger anxiety on the road. We need 5 or 10x the chargers we have right now, and it's getting worse (more EVs on the road every month, and charger installation rate is flatlining). Before you ask, I rent my home, so I can't easily have my own.
2) Fragility. She's a great looker but easily hurt. I have the all glass canopy, which looks
great! However, the aforementioned crossbars caused a crack in the top canopy. The back window also cracked. Lucid took responsibility for both, saying that the back window cracked due to a manufacturing error. While they were replacing the top canopy, the replacement cracked (!). A minor sideswipe of the front bumper while parked overnight (excellently dealt with by GEICO and Daniel Corey of brooksmotorcars.com of Oakland, incidentally) cost $8700. The paintwork scratches easily, and although I have been lucky with my tires, many have not.
Congratulations on your new ride! Let us know how the lease return experience goes. My 2023 Air Pure 18-month lease return date is in the first week of October, and I’m planning to return it as well and switch to another EV brand.
Will do!!
