Lucid air
So i charged Lucid Air in garage then reversed it so I could back out and park in driveway so that my wife could charge her car later.. when i put it into D in driveway the gear shift fell / broke off.. thankfully i could put car in P when i opener door but i did sit there for a while wondering what to do..
called service who will tow my car.. car is 9 months old so i rule out wear and tear (6000 miles only)..

Do you have Hulk strength? The moulding is clearly broken.

Think we can put this in the “shit happens” category. This is the first time I’ve seen this since the cars release so definitely not a widespread problem.

Hopefully service gets it fixed and back in your driveway asap.

I'm with Rogue here, the plastic was clearly broken and didn't just fall off.

Ha! I was just getting ready to ask the OP if his name was Bruce Banner!

Well yes i never claimed it „fell off by itself“. I reversed out of my garage then put it into Drive at which point it fell off… it should be sturdier. My previous BMW, Audi, MB never had this issue… when i got the lucid the handles on cover in the trunk literally came apart.. then the front left wheel mould came detached.. they have quality issues.. my app never works.. despite doing the whole wifi/bluetooth pairing over and over.. not really complaining since i knew it was a new EV.. and i do absolutely love driving it.

Not a single thing on my car has broken like that, either the gear shift or the trunk handles. I lost one rivet in a wheel well but that happens to every car I’ve ever owned.

Could someone enlighten me on what a trunk handle is?

I think the OP meant the slightly recessed plastic handle on top of the folding well cover inside the trunk.

correct! No update as car still sitting at service center.. apparently the service center is dealing with a lot of emergencies. Hopefully next week!

I haven't heard of this with a Lucid before, but it's not an unknown event to me.

Many years ago I had a Volvo 144 sedan with a manual floor shifter. As I downshifted coming off an interstate exit, the linkage gave way and the entire shifter pulled out of the console.

Many years later I had a Mercedes SL55 AMG with an automatic floor shifter. Something inside the console gave way as I was shifting from reverse to forward, leaving the shifter flopping around loosely although still attached.

Highly unlikely events happen pretty much every day to someone somewhere.

Lucid fixed it and charged me.. did not give me explanation..
Reserve Hulk strength for a time of need.

That would have been my explanation. Probably best I'm not a PR person.

Perhaps.. but this will be my first and last Lucid. Fixing it just takes too long as there are barely any authorized body shops near me and parts take weeks to arrive…
