Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

Love the reference to “firing on all cylinders”
GOOD ONE!!! 🤣
So excited for everyone getting VINs and deliveries! Finally seems like the wait is coming to an end. My AT is always late to the party. Dashboard changed like everyone else's, but still says "preparing for production". Tidal ID is assigned, but no VIN yet 🙁. Spoke to my DA yesterday and he says the computer is showing VIN assignment sometime next week. Interesting that there is a projected VIN date available for him to see, but he won't tell me the exact date (for obvious reasons). In the meantime, I will be refreshing my dashboard every 30 seconds hoping it pops there first.
Same situation for me. No VIN yet. I wonder if it’s because of the pick up location. I never see many cars at short hills

Just curious how Lucid’s production of 70 cars a day stacks up against Rivian.

Same here for my red/Tahoe. No email or DA contact, just showed a new dashboard page on the website with the info.

Joe - update me with vin assigned 12-9

Thanks!

Pete

My DA called today. Things are moving fast! Purchasing agreement will be sent soon. Home delivery to KC, Mo would put me into January, but Lucid is willing to fly me to Chicago to pick up the car this year. Packing my bag now. :)

Pete

Anyone have a VIN for a metal roof Touring yet?
My DA told me this past week that he hasn't seen a schedule, and will get back to me in January. But I'm also in the later schedule due to Mojave interior.

My dashboard has been showing the Preparing for Production tab, but just now, the pickup location showed up even though the "In Production" tab not yet active.
No VIN and no contact from the DA.

Wow! Does that include non-fully-specced cars?
I logged on to new Dashboard---I spec'd Touring with metal roof and DD---the site says my status is "Preparing for Production"...so no, I don't expect mine until 1Q23 soonest.

According to my DA, the time to ship the car from PDI in Chicago to the studio in Short Hills is 24 hours. So it sounds like that shouldn't cause any major delays. I did tell him I'm willing to fly to Chicago if it means getting the car before Jan 1st.

Like many of you my dashboard now contains a VIN and an “in Production” status. That is surprises me since my last contact from my DA is when I changed configurations on Tuesday and he said my car was completing production at that time. I assume that shipping is included in the “preparing for delivery” process? Still no response from my DA to any of my questions or for delivery planning.

Let’s hope we get AT this year.

I am on the same boat, I’m willing to fly to Chicago.

@Negan1000 which DA or City you are at? I check my account today, got a vin assign today too but no communication from DA.
I will take delivery in Costa Mesa. My DA is Russell but no contact in a week. I’m waiting until Monday for him to call.

I had a very interesting conversation with Lucid's VP of operations at the Lucid Holiday Party last night. Here are a few tidbits:
  • Current production is about 70 cars per day
  • Start of general assembly to end of general assembly is less than one day. Add another half day for loading software and quality inspections. Start to ready to ship in under two days
  • They have been batching cars in groups of 200 by exterior color and 100 by interior color. They are trying out batching in groups of 100 exterior color and 50 interior color to see how it works.
  • They can switch between trims at any time but still follow the batch sizes above. There is no change over time from GT to Touring to Pure.
  • They maintain and 8 week assembly plan to batches and trim.
  • Almost all of the touring reservation cars are built.
Interesting. Almost all Touring reservations built? Not many Touring reservations? Lots of deliveries shortly?

I really wish I had the guts to get the 20 inch wheels while living in a cold climate but I just couldn't get myself to do it despite the look. I do plan to talk to my DA about getting the lug nuts and center disc changed as suggested in another thread. Just trying not to do anything that may potentially delay delivery. Every day is critical right now.

It's not guts, it's practicality. What's the point of a beautiful car nobody can see because it's parked in your garage, because of snowy, pothole-ridden roads?

Those of you willing to fly to Chicago to take delivery, what size wheels did you go with? Are you willing to brave the Midwest winter if you didn't get the 19's with the AS tires?

Negan - my DA is Russell also - he was very responsive and active in proposing a change to my configuration to help ensure the car gets delivered this year. That was Tuesday. Since then I have called him at least 5 times and sent 4 or 5 emails requesting an update as he originally said delivery could be next week. I know they are very busy but a quick note or call should not be too much to ask for….

Agreed! I had a 911 4S with summer performance tires back in Northern PA which was not fun to drive in temperatures below 30’s even in dry conditions. The tires would get so rock hard that even the slow turns would make the tires loose grip, no traction and road noise is weird at freeway speeds. Forget driving in Snowy and wet conditions.
That’s why when ordering X7 M50i I downgraded to 21’s (All seasons) though I was getting 22’s (with summer performance) as standard.

Please update .. took Delivery today 12-10-2022 🤗
