Lucid-EA connection failure?

Hmm, I'd still have them disable it for now to see if it fixes the issues. Might as well eliminate one thing that is a known issue.
I emailed customer care asking about disabling plug and charge and just using the Lucid app or if they had another way of handling authentication/payment declined issues. Most of the justification for buying the GT was for road trips. If I can't trust the car to charge and don't take it on trips, my wife will be rather unhappy.

To be fair, you could use any other charging network as well, on a trip.
Yes, and you would be absolutely right in calling me cheap but part of the price of the car paid for 3 years of charging so in essence, I would be paying twice for charging at a different network. In the absence of a EA site, yes, I would charge at whatever is available but I expect to be able to charge at any working EA station and I already paid for that. Wife would also be upset about that since I touted getting free charging for 3 years.

Exactly, I will use EVGO, Chargepoint or any other compatible charging station to get me where I'm going as it still will be cheaper than gas!
Depends on what car and mpg. The Prius is our current road trip car and I get 50 mpg which translates to over $6 at $0.43/kwh and that's not accounting for charging losses (using 3.5 miles/kwh).

Yes, you're right. And it's probably a good idea to plan to use any other network than EA for now.

I had to charge 3 times this weekend, only had an authentication error on one station, then moved to the one next to it and was fine just had to initiate via Lucid app. Other 2 times plug n charge worked.
@hydbob i think you are in the SGV where I am. Which charge stations do you use? I had a horrible experience at the EA station at the Albertsons on Live Oak. Called EA and Lucid and it never worked. Got thru the “payment declined” issue but as soon as the station start to “whirl” it stopped and gave me a “charge start error”. Tried 2 other stations and nope. Meanwhile 2Teslas and an ID.4 charged without issue. I’m going to try the one at the mall later.

Westfield Santa Anita for sure

Just tried 2 out of the 6 and got the same “charge start error” while on the phone with lucid. Bummer. Heading to target to try EVGo to make sure it isn’t the car.
Dang really? I have never had a problem there

My car worked fine on the one EA charger I tried pre-trip at Valley Fair, then was a complete disaster when I actually needed it at EA south Lake Tahoe.

Yea so if it works on 1 EA site and not another is it the car or EA? 🤔

I would think it hard to be certain unless you had two software engineers sitting at a failing charger/car - one engineer from EA's supplier and one from Lucid. And keep sharp objects out of the immediate area.

Just pulled away from EA Newburgh. 3 chargers just gave me charging stopped message before it even started. I watched while two ionic and a Rivian and an electric school bus(!) charged. Interestingly the guys in the school bus traveled from while plains as the EA was broken there. So I guess I have to straighten this out with Lucid although I did successfully charge at garden state last week

Oh funny, I used that EA in White Plains a couple weeks ago and it sucked, it would initiate but only give you like 40kw. The EA by me are trash. I think the problem is EA+ Lucid. Neither has a robust enough system to handshake reliably. It can’t just be the car’s fault since some EA work some of the time, and EVGo has worked for me, and about half the time at ChargePoint. However the other cars pulling up and charging ok at EA is humiliating suggesting that it has to be partly Lucid’s fault in not talking to EA correctly.

It’s the car for me. Tripped the exact same error at 2 EVGo stations. Lucid is convinced there is something wrong with the car. Oh well.
RESOLVED - Got a call from Costa Mesa Service Center and Will had me try something. He had me open the frunk and pull up, then down, then up, then down the "emergency release wire" right above the Charging Port. He said it's very sensitive and if it's not in the exact place it's supposed to be it'll likely throw an error. I did what he asked, closed the frunk, started to charge and BAM! It worked. That was at the EVGo station. I charged for a bit and then headed back over to the EA station off of Live Oak for a test....it worked flawlessly (minus the "auto recognition of the car")...I still had to start thru the Lucid App but that's not a big deal. So if anyone is having issues with a "charge start error" or "error connecting to the vehicle" try the above.

Will is great! I met him last week. Earnest young man, and evidently a very competent and knowledgeable service representative too.

I agree. Will has done a great job out in Costa Mesa.

I'm going to go do the magic wiggle right now!

Let me know if it works for u. Pull it up a couple of inches, then back down and repeat. Then just make sure the “skateboard” looking plastic piece that the wire is connected to is firmly back in place. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for u.

This seems important. If this is the solution, might want to put in a sticky!

Also, in a different light, this could be seen as a “trim issue” — I noticed the issues like interior A pillars falling off when crossing speed bumps, truck lining sagging, driver side rear door trim misaligned, clips missing from various trim pieces (all of these have been replaces after turning my car back into Lucid for 2 weeks). What I feared was the sloppiness I could not see. I think this kind of thing will fall in that category. If my car manages to retain the 250 miles of range I left it with in the airport parking lot when I return in 4 days, I plan to hit an EA charger on the way home and see if I can finally get it to charge!

How do you pull the wire down? I’ve pulled it up before to emergent release a Chargepoint connector that got stuck, and I can see how you pull the wire up as that does the release, but how do you pull it down? And also while this seems interesting, I’m just a wee bit skeptical as I can’t seem to charge at the EA location near my house but EVGo near my job works fine 100% of the time. Is it something to do with the EA CCS connectors I wonder being finicky with the Lucid?

Not going to disagree with the “fit and finish” issues. But to be fair to Lucid on my issue…this was most likely a result of my PPF vendor unknowingly moving the wire when they wrapped the frunk and other panels around the charge as charging was tested and worked fine before.
