3.0 on Air

My hot takes:

The home page 3 cards are not helpful. The Nav card shows a small FOV of no utility and the motion is distracting. The Phone card shows no useful information. The Music card is nice. The overall appearance is now cluttered with less utility. Simpler and cleaner would be better.

The one touch access to CarPlay/AA is nice. But once using CarPlay/AA, there’s now no one touch way to get back to the Home Screen or other cockpit screens. You have to go to the tile view of apps in CarPlay to click on Lucid to get out.

The multitasking on the Pilot screen is nice. But it’s located out of the quick field of vision while driving so functions need to be obvious and easy to use. For example, using music on the Pilot screen should display the current song and controls as a larger part of screen real estate and place them on the top of the screen, not the very bottom.

Finally, my biggest disappointment is the gray background now present throughout the UI which is a BIG step down to me. It’s distracting at night and, to my eye, far less luxurious and professional than the jet black background in UX 2.0. It’s like a monitor with the black point setting way off or a badly set TV.

To be fair, my opinions are likely biased by my using CarPlay for most of my apps (except Tidal). Perhaps I’d feel differently if I relied on Lucid Nav, but I fear it won’t reroute me around accidents and delays on a long drive like Google/Waze does.
Agree with your comments. Other comments:
The close mirrors should be returned to the home page. I use this to exit and enter my tight garage space.
The music page needs improvement. The USB music selection is not on the Initial Music page. After I found it, the USB 1 stopped playing. I had to select USB2 to get it to work. Not sure why there is USB1 and USB 2. Now I cannot find selection to get back to FM radio. The audio quality is much better.
Not sure if this is related to the update but the Send to Lucid from the app did not work.

The roof light stays on even when I turn off the ambient lights or "vibe", anyone experience that?
Android Auto works fine for me but no changes from the last version, why don't they use the whole screen?
Also, idk if it was already mentioned but why remove the glovebox button from the homepage and make the regen options bigger and permanent?

I realize that there are different opinions on what PaaK needs to do to be considered "working correctly". My definition is that the driver's side door unlocks within one or two seconds without having to a) take my iPhone out of my pocket, b) unlock the phone, c) open the Lucid app, d) unlock the Lucid in the app. Just like my Tesla did. In more than a year, I have always had to at least take the phone out of my pocket. The majority of the time, I had to also unlock the phone. There were plenty of times I still had to open the app. And even a few times where I literally had to unlock the car in the app. Today I deleted/removed/forgot my iPhone and I am thrilled to say that 10 times out of 10, my Air unlocked within 2 seconds of arrival with my phone locked in my pocket. With my phone locked in my hand, not in my pocket, the Lucid unlocked every time before I even reached the driver's side door. YMMV, but if you are struggling with PaaK it's worth the 30 minutes to completely uninstall/forget your phone and start with a fresh mobile key. Is it UX 3.0? The new phone install? Both in combination? I wish I knew!

When I am walking to my car along with my Wife, We both have our phones set to the car as a mobile key. For some reason, The car sets to my wife profile even when she walks towards the passengers side. I have to sit and manually change it to my profile. Justa note that my phone and my profile is the primary profile.
Our 2026 AT does this almost every time on 2.10, still waiting for the 2.11 update.

I think Luci prefers my wife to me. Even though I am the one that feeds her and washes her.

Easy fix. Touch the profile tab on the pilot (upper left) and go to your profile. 15 second fix

Oh my! I’m not sure you're talking about the car or your wife.

My only complaint is during dawn and dusk hours, the UI flips back and forth between day and night mode. Like, 4-5 changes within a minute. It’s very distracting. They need to tie it to local sunrise and sunset data and not a light sensor, or at least add a few minute delay to the current logic
The old software had a brightness level adjustment right on the home page of the pilot panel. I can't find this control in the new software; would you happen to know where it is?

Swipe down from the top of the Pilot panel. That will reveal a card style menu of functions, one of which is the brightness control.

Is there an auto brightness setting? If so it doesn't work well on that new daytime graphic on the pilot panel.

I don't remember the Air ever having an auto brightness setting, and it does not appear so with the latest update. If it does or ever has, I'm not aware.

Impressions of UX 3.0 after a week:

I'm driving a 2023 AGT. Bought it used from Lucid, and had it for 13 months. I should note that the car has been reliable, and I love to drive it.

On to UX 3.0...

First few days were trouble free, then some little issues began to appear.
First, audio issues with USB music. UX 3.0 now lists 2 USB ports, and it keeps switching back and forth for some reason, or when I get in the car it says there is no media. I switch to the other port and my music appears.
On multiple occasions music from USB has stopped playing for no apparent reason, and again the car suddenly reports there's no media.
I unplug the USB stick, plug it back in, and the music comes back.
One of my gripes with the previous software was the system could not always keep track of what was playing when I exit the car and get back in. That's still true for USB playback. Sometimes it resumes what was playing, even after an overnight sleep, and sometimes it forgets.
I've had 2 times when I get in the car and the screens are black. All or some of them. They come back, but it's frustrating and something I didn't see on the older software.
Happened the other day when I got in the car to demo it to a potential Lucid buyer. Oops.
I don't understand the purpose of the 3 cards on the upper screen. Can I choose what cards appear? Like Waze would be nice.
Tire pressure suggestion displayed is wrong.
Front and back cameras seem to have better resolution.
Side cameras have not improved. Video jumps and skips like a movie from the 20's.
Outside temperature is now much more accurate. Before the update the display was often 10-12 degrees high. Now it is quite accurate.
Audio is much improved. There's more bass. What did they do in software? Nothing is listed in the release notes.

So that's it. I like the update, but it is not polished enough, and didn't seem to get adequate beta testing. (I get it, we're doing it.)
I've reported what I've seen to Lucid. There's a lot of good ideas in this update, so I think Lucid is on the right track.

As I said, I love the car, and the philosophy behind it, but with the management changes (firings and hirings), I expected a better rollout of UX 3.0. When people ask me about my car, they invariably say "Beautiful car, but I hear the software is awful".

That's a hard reputation to live down, and a really smooth rollout of UX 3.0 would have really helped in changing perceptions. I'm hoping for a quick update to address these issues, but so far Lucid has been silent.

If this happens with the Cosmos, Lucid is sunk and I don't want that to happen.

Once again I'll suggest Lucid send a monthly email news letter to owners with news, information, tips, known bugs, and plans to fix them.
Finally, we need complete documentation of UX 3.0. We should not have to rely on the forums and people discovering the good and the bad.

Onward, and I hope, upward.

I agree on the cards, maybe it can be made into widgets like BMW does so we can choose what is there, or swipe like car play

On the audio I think they dialed the gain up quite a bit. The volume is louder, but also comes on much louder at lower levels. I always want more bass, but, the accuracy is good and the sound staging is good at least on my SS Poverty

It looks much better and feels more modern, and is consistent with the Gravity now so it has some branded identity to it. I think its an improvement.

I unpaired my phone (iphone 18 pro) and re-paired it, and they key seems to be working much better. Did you actually delete the key and then add it again?

I could not have said it better myself. 100% agree. Audio pauses for no reason on Spotify as well. And the Lucid "card" does not allow you to shut down carplay. Once Carplay is going, it is going until the next drive at least, and it's fighting with the native Lucid apps big time. They need to do like Tesla did and dump Carplay and just make their own native apps work, or dump the native apps (not my preference since less control over screens) and keep Carplay. I think Lucid, sadly, is already sunk. Their window for correcting their terrible software reputation was earlier this year, and this is October. Most people I speak with have heard the software sucks, and I can't argue with them. Still love my car though most of the time, so fun to drive. This must be like being married to an alcoholic...

I do like the changes. Just want everything to work. Re the audio, it's not just louder. The spectral characteristics have changed, and bass is improved.

I’ve seen the screens, auto dim and brighten slightly, but with that new pilot panel background, it’s still too bright even on auto.

You can hit the Lucid "L" logo in carplay to revert back to the native system (all CarPlay vehicles have this in CarPlay) but yeah they should've kept a quick access home button like back in the prior version.

The biggest miss on the Air was not infusing every model with the tech to adaptive lane keep out of the box. If a Hyundai can do it, Lucid should've been able to. When you tell people there's no full self driving like Tesla (yet) they inevitably ask well does it have like a basic Autopilot and my answer is always "some specs, not all", and people are surprised to hear that. What I inevitably come back to is the fit and finish, the driving experience, and the range. The driving experience is class leading IMO, but people looking for FSD don't necessarily care about the manual driving experience.

Hitting that "L" logo works sometimes, but doesn't actually seem to kill Carplay, and if Spotify and Carplay are crashing, only way to fix it is a hard reset. Yesterday the L logo wasn't taking me back at all, so I think the two systems were fighting each other.
