Connected Home Charger - Speed Decreasing on 100A Circuit

Possibly ignorant question, but I have breezed through this thread and still wondering how you guys now your charging rate has dropped. Is it just by checking the app from time to time?
Exactly.
 
At AC charge speeds of 19kW, there is no good reason to derate speeds, not for the battery at least. For DC charging yes but those reasons don’t really apply here.

Weak stance from Lucid.
 
Yes, that's how I have checked it. I'm picking up my Gravity tomorrow from the service center where they checked the rate decrease based on screenshots I sent them. This was part of some other work they performed. Here is what they said:

Job: 12 Charging Products
Pay Type: Warranty
Concern: Customer states that when charging on Level 2 chargers, the vehicle displays a rate reduction and the charging kW decreases. Photos have
been attached as needed. Please check and advise.
Cause: Can not verify abnormal charging operation.
Corrections: Vehicle came in with SOC 68%.
Tested vehicle charging - vehicle is charging as designed.
Scanned and reviewed fault memory - no related DTCs found.
Customer's 1st pictures shows a charging rate of 13kW with 1 hour and 5 minuets of charging left before set limit of 80% achieved.
2Nd picture shows the rate slowed down to 11kW with 25 minuets of charging left before set limit of 80% achieved.
EV charging automatically slows down as the battery approaches its set limit to protect battery health. This "tapering" prosses is managed by the
"Tapering" when approaching the end of charging session is a normal charging function.

Note: I actually charged it at the service center 80A J1772 charger while waiting for my ride, so the decrease in charge rate and my screenshot were taken at the dealership. I had the maximum set to 80%.

It’s not a matter of how close you are to fully charged it’s how long it’s been since the charging was started. Even if I’m at 10% within 30 mins of starting a charge it throttles down a few kw.

I agree the explanation is not correct. The car will not tapper the level 2 charge until the SOC is in the high 90% range.
 
A possible given the time span people have stated is a temp derate. We can’t check most of the related temps obviously, but have a look in your charge inlet or gun for any debris or something that could increase connection resistance. Reducing charge power due to inlet pin over temp would be a reasonable reaction. Also possible they changed their code to be more sensitive to this. I’ve melted a few charge inlet connections (not Lucid), and I know that inlet port melting was a frequent issue on early Rivians until they stepped up derate based on inlet temps.
 
It’s also just untrue; mine does not taper.
I'll check when I pick up my car and see if the charger is the old -1 model. I think these chargers are the same J1772 ones from 4+ years ago, which may explain the throttling, although it doesn't help me much on my NACS charger, since it appears they still only have -1 model versions of these.
 
Drove my Gravity to my Vacation home where I have a Tesla gen-1 charger at 72A(highest that works on Gravity). I also have a Lucid NACS charger at 80A.

I started with the Lucid charger with the car at 14% charge. Got 19kW, but later dropped to 16kW & 14kW. It didn’t finish charging but got the stopped charging message continuously. I switched to the Tesla charger, which started at 17kW, but dropped to 14kW and then 12kW. See sequential screen shots below. First is Lucid charger, then Stooped Charging Messages, then Tesla charger. You can see the time at top of screen:

Setting mine to 38A is the only way I can get it not to taper. If I run anything high than that for like 20 mins..it taper and I only get 5kw

This is an issue. It's not my charger. It was happening to my 2023 Air before Lucid bought it back..and its still happening to my 2025 Air. It all started after a software update a while ago. I think it's happening to many people but they might not be checking for it or are charging overnight.
 
My replacement charger is soon to ship out, and I will work to get the new one installed and ship the old one back to Lucid. Hopefully the v3 version solves the issue for me as well, but yeah, this is clearly a software issue with at least all other EVSE. I don’t really ever use any other chargers to add a data point, but maybe I’ll try the charger at my condo (208v/50A) next time I need to charge to see if that exhibits the same issue, I just don’t love paying 3x the cost of electricity to charge on equipment that was paid for as part of a special assessment.

How can you tell the version?

I've got one in a box in my garage since ~November that I haven't gotten around to installing. If it's not V3 I wonder if Lucid would exchange if there are concerns about performance for V1 and V2....

The model will end in -01, -02, or -03.
 
I've got the NACS charger (which isn't installed yet). The SKU is P21-Y04401-00. Are these having the problem too?

I have four NACS chargers, and they all end -0. Only one of them is installed right now and it has the problem. Or should I say the car has the problem, because my GEN-1 Tesla charger also has this issue.
