Here are two pics of my Gravity next to wifeys Range Rover Velar. It’s interesting that a lot of the design language is incorporated in both cars. Similar front and rear looks and very similar rear roof tail shape. Land Rover has put a lot of the velar’s design across their entire line up over the last several years and I can’t help but think it influenced other designs as well. It may be just a confluence of good ideas and aerodynamics but I’ve noticed through the years designs look very similar in eras since companies want to push the envelope of what’s popular and current but not get too far out on a limb thoughts anyone?

Lucid definitely had the RR Velar on their minds for not just styling, look at some of their concept drawings, but functionally as well. Read somewhere the Velar was what Lucid was hoping to match for off road performance. Hmm, not sure they got their with approach and departure angles.

Another comparison will happen when JLR releases their BEV EMA platform Velar, they’ll likely be showing that by mid-2026 is my guess.

Definitely like the Range Rover exterior better, especially the rear end. Like both though.

Complete agreement.

Companies probably look at sales data and determine what look sells the most, then just go copy it.
As they say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".
The Toyota Highlander is a prime example.

I'm glad that Lucid when out on the suv limb:

• Longer roof line; rear tail shape; more vertical rear window (all also needed for the great 3rd row head space)
• More slope to the windshield
• Longer/deeper door length
• Saggy rear butt (also needed for cargo space)

The comments about "looks like a minivan" indicate they went out too far for some.

I don't "need" to be different, but I love that I don't turn the corner and see several iterations of my car coming toward me or having to make sure I'm getting in my car in a parking lot and not someone else's.

I love the Velar look.
If I were still in the market for an ev, I'd be waiting on the JLR new BEVs.

I’m not an LR fan, but definitely see the similarities and it’s really interesting.

Agree the changes to the Gravity are practical, if not always amazing looking. The storage is absolutely amazing, as is the third row. My kids rave about it. They won’t sit in the third row of our X or
R1S…

I dunno, from the side/rear, the Gravity looks a dozen other vehicles to me. Like a Toyota Highlander. It's a pretty common shape.

The stout frunk on the Gravity is it's more noticeable feature from the outside, but even that is not very distinctive. I can see why detractors refer to it as a minivan because it does generally have that overall plain look. It's just not very distinctive from the outside. But that's where the similarity ends. It's Clark Kent from the outside. It's Superman on the interior, in function, and in performance.

If a Toyota Highlander and a Honda Odyssey had a baby, it would the a Gravity.

Extend the roof line of the Highland, along with a slightly more vertical window, throw in a saggy butt rear bumper area ... voila! Gravity.

A significant exterior distinction with the Gravity is the adjustable ride height.
My GGT at the lowest ride height is no Highlander or Odyssey. They wish!
It's a freakin' rocketship, which is what a worker at a recent ferry crossing called it.

I do believe future iterations will have more frontal edges.

I would think your kids feel like they're in their own space in that third row.
Kids need their space you know.

I remember the first time I rode along on a test drive and sat in the third row.
The front seating seemed so far away.

They seem to be the only ones that will sell you a warranty for your existing tires. But places like Costco will include the warranty when you buy/install tires for them.

Yes, many will do it if you buy tires from them; agreed.

That's my understanding also.
Not sure what the OP implied, hence the question to clarify.
In fact, I do wish for more options. Competition is always good.

I would not buy a Jag today, much less a BEV Jag. The iPace wasn’t decent and the company is trying to decide what they want to be today.

FWIW, I used to own a ‘66 E-Type convertible. That was awesome.

It's a new car day!! In our second attempt on delivery for our new Gravity at Tysons Corner, VA, things went much better. It didn't start that way - I got a call early in the day from the delivery contact, telling me our Gravity was showing an error and required service. Since I was driving two hours to get there, I continued. Fortunately, they resolved the issue and our delivery was delayed but went well.

We drove our new Gravity home, about 115 miles and we still have 67% battery left! Amazing! The best part is that everything worked perfectly. The key fob, the frunk, HUD, seats moving up and down, the seat heaters and ventilation on auto, etc. etc. Hope I'm not jinxing myself but we didn't experience any of the bugs I've been reading about. The vehicle is amazing!

I really liked my iPace.

Nothing wrong with them in my book.

Waymo likes them. Their battery issues were LG's fault. And their infotainment is pretty good with the Pivi Pro models. And they are fun to drive.

I haven’t had any key fob problems either, since taking delivery a week ago today. One little orange triangle came up on my instrument panel a few days ago. Never did determine what it was, and it went away the next time I got in the car.

I agree with you - this car is utterly amazing!

Well, I picked up my GGT today from Tysons. Appointment was for 1:00pm, finally got to see the car at nearly 3:30pm. So a bit of wait. Everything about the car looked good, fitment, paint, etc. Tested as much as I could sitting in the delivery bay, and then it was time to head out onto the wide open congested DC beltway for my almost 2 hour drive home. Car was great -- except -- no heat. Seat heaters worked, steering wheel heater worked, fans blew air, just not hot air. Did a reboot when I got home but no luck. And I was sooooo close to having no issues! Oh well. First world problems.
