I dumped my Rivian R1T this August. I am not happy at all with that enterprise for quite a few reasons. I was an early purchaser with a day one deposit.
- They promised hands free driving to us when we ordered but nope.
- They delivered vehicles with with wireless phone charging that never worked. Once they fixed the issue they never warrantied the faulty devices.
- Many of us had ordered optional items like powered tonneau covers, tunnel shuttles and camp kitchens. They told us early adopters these items were not quite ready but they would like us to take delivery of our vehicles and when the options are ready they would be retrofitted but nope.
- They brag about their software and how they can "do it better than AA or CP" yet they have no method for hands free navigation and the navigation they have is simply embarrasing. They have no method for handling text messages of any sort. Their voice recognition for BT calling is cannot recognize commands 40% of the time. But hey they have put resources towards animations of the vehicles ahead on the instrument panel...you know because you can't fricking see them out of your windscreen. Or making the vehicle animations be matchy matchy with paint and wheels to your specific vehicle. My favorite are the Halloween light shows. Now that's so much more important than proper phone integration!
- Mechanically I had some issues like groaning air suspension, halfshafts that a ton of slop, and maybe 5 others things but I was an early adopter and knew there would be a few issues. Hopefully these are now fixed.
Gear tunnel was amazingly useful. Frunk was huge. Trunk implementation was poor due to impeded access from flip down tailgate- Honda did better on the Ridgeline with swing out tailgate.
If they would have fulfulled their promises and integrated AA/CP or a robust system like GM now has then I would still be driving that vehicle or maybe bought a new one.
