Gravity Bugs / Issues

I will be incredibly frustrated if I bring my car in Monday and they tell me the have to order the regulator for the window they’ve known about for 2+ weeks. I remain hopeful.
Millbrae, for me, usually waits until parts have arrived. That said, they sometimes receive a part that doesn’t fit or is defective, or discover they need another part, so they’ll keep it if that happens.

We did our test drive at West Palm but I noticed on the lease quote it states delivery at Riviera Beach.

Yes, they are neighboring towns. The West Palm Beach studio site, which is a very Tony location, cannot accommodate a Service Center, so they are not combined as they are at the Miami Worldcenter.

Here is the report on what happened with the Gravity at the Service Center over the past two weeks. Sorry, but I can only post it as a screen shot. For the last few days, any time I use the "reply" feature on the forum or use certain emoji's I get an "Oops / error" message that will not allow the post. It happened with this post, even after I tried removing boldfacing and italics.

I am getting an Air loaner, so I really won’t mind if it takes a couple of days. But have a road trip Friday - so

Well, really glad to hear the nav issue is fixed as that impacts so many things and hope the follow up HUD update helps.

Interesting the nav was software after all that…

Hi @hmp10
Glad to hear your Gravity has many of its issues resolved! Fingers crossed 🤞

How about the key fob? Did they replace your console?

I forget if you had experienced key fob issues before the service. But how about now? Anything you can share about how your experience unlocking and starting the Gravity for your drives after it came back from service?

My understanding is it’s not a console replacement. It’s checking some wiring in the console to make sure it’s not loose / getting pinched against something.

Nothing was touched concerning the console. We turned the auto lock/unlook proximity sensor off early on per the advice of people on the forum who were having fob issues, and we avoided the issues for a couple of weeks. But then we began having to use the key card much of the time either to start the car or to put it into gear. We had one incident of having to do so on the way home when we were leaving a Supercharger station. (The manager of the Service Center said a software update was imminent to address the key fob issue so perhaps it, like our Nav/GPS problem, really does reside in the software?)

By the way, we charged our Air at this station on the way over and drew only 38-39 kW. With the Gravity on the return trip we started from a 43% charge and never topped 109 kW. 11 of the 12 charge posts were in use during most of that session, so it might have been site load. However, we did not get a message that charging was being limited by the station as we have gotten at a couple of other SC sites where we were actually drawing more power.

I have the fob issue and my car is going in Monday for the window issue I have too, so will keep folks posted. Been starting car with the key card for three weeks.

According to the mobile tech who assessed my key card issue, a connector leading to the key card reader is bent. The wire is fine, but the connector needs to be replaced. The tech showed me pictures of other consoles shared with him by other mobile techs, that showed bent connectors. It sounds like the pinching you referred to, is occuring, but the impact of that pinching is either a bent/broken connector or a loose wire. The parts supplier does not provided replacement parts for the console, so the entire console has to be replaced.

It is definitely possible, they have found an alternate way to rectify the problem other than console replacement since the mobile tech assessed my console.

As of yesterday, a console had been shipped Thursday via FedEx 3-day expedited shipping after a two week delay in ordering due to miscommunication among service center personnel. Mobile tech was going to provide me with a tracking number once available. FedEx ships/delivers on weekends, so I'm hoping to hear something on Monday. If not the arrival of the part, at least a tracking number. Console replacement or an alternative; either is fine with me as long as the issue is resolved.

I'll update here as additional info is obtained, like others.

GPS signals are much weaker than cell signals. Your phone needs to receive signals from 4 GPS satellites to obtain a location fix. The satellites continuously broadcast extremely accurate time codes and over time send their orbital ephemerides data. As the satellites are at different distances from your phone, the signals different have different delays between the time sent and the time received. The phone's GPS hardware can capture the exact relative times the signals arrive...but does not itself need to know the current time as accurately as the satellites.

Older phones did not have the processing power to do the calculations locally and would send the received data to servers to compute the phone's location. Modern smartphones can do it all locally.

Lucid cars have a lot of shielding. The cars GPS antenna will be outside this shielding.

I can easily believe that there may be spots where a phone will not receive sufficient signals.

Also, in downtown areas with lots of high rises, the GPS signals can be reflected and cause errors due to multiple path lengths.
Spoken like a true engineer. I was looking to see if anyone would respond. lol

Whatever key update, hope it comes to the Air as well…..
Also, two different manufacturers make the keys is my understanding. So it’s highly unlikely you’ll see any supposed needed fix come from Gravity to Air.

But I’ll reiterate that the Air key has always worked for me. Most problems I’ve seen on the forums are self induced. And occur on many other vehicles. Like keeping your fob in your back pocket… which is an issue with most any vehicle. (Including the Jeep Grand Cherokee I used to have and Range Rover my dad daily drives.)

Agree , the studio is in an upscale shopping area, appears to be a recent development as there is still construction. When we did our test drive we stayed at the Hilton and had occaision to wander the shops.

What SC did you charge at? Miccosukee?

Yes. They have two charge stations at each end of the rows that are positioned such that an Air can charge without taking up two spaces. It's a very busy location and, fortunately, those two spaces are usually the last ones taken by Teslas. Not an issue, of course, with the Gravity. Unfortunately, we consistently get the slowest charge speed of any Superchargers we've used thus far although it's not a very old location.

We used to use the SC's on University Drive in Plantation, but in the past couple of years there is usually a long queue of cars waiting to charge there.

There is a nice new V4 in Wellington now.

It's great to hear the visual artifacts of the HUD are now entirely gone for you! That make me a lot more comfortable keeping the HUD option in my GGT order.
Well, they may be gone because it’s not on in any way. Sounds like it’s off entirely…don’t want to be negative, but it’s possible.
