2.8.0 Feedback Only!

The other option, and you probably already experienced this, would be to let the system automatically disable HFDA if it can't detect you within 5 to 10 seconds; it'll change to standard DA until it can adequately detect you again and automatically re-enable HFDA.
I was hoping for it to kick in, but I guess I was in the not so common situation where it detected me, but glare from the sun would make the car think I was not looking at the road every 10-15 seconds 😅

I have had the following issues since 2.8.0:
1. Black central screen on the glass cockpit display. Happened twice. Both times had to exit and lock the car and upon returning in a few minutes the car would start normally.
2. The DA would not engage at all. The set speed would appear on the screen but grayed out. Happened once.
3. The HFDA would be intermittently unavailable and available on the same road. Happens relatively frequently.
I had the same issue #3 above. In addition, since this update even Adaptive Cruise Control turns off.

I just gave HFDA a decent tryout--45 miles of Interstate each way. On the way up--driving in daylight with sunglasses one--it performed really well. On the way back, driving in the dark, I kept getting the "pay attention" nag over and over and over--sometimes to the point of the car telling me to take over. Keep in mind that I hadn't changed my driving position or seat position at all. Perhaps I was slouching a bit because it was later in the evening and I was tired, so I tried sitting up, and lowering the steering wheel. None of it seemed to help. Maybe it was due to it being dark outside? I don't know, but it was honestly disappointing, because driving at night is a time when I would really wand HFDA to work.

First time used it the hands free worked and nuged me because it couldn't see me but continues hands free. Second time I had to keep my hand on wheel despite raising steering e wheel to view camera and no sunglasses. WHY? any thoughts? Also not crazy about lane change. Slow to move over and gets too close to car I'm going around. I had to take over several times to initiate that process a way I deemed safer

really strong performance from it. the lane keeping is night and day better when it’s in hands free mode. I had 1 or 2 drives where it seemed to be unable to track my eyes and kept forcing me to engage but it’s been 80% solid for me on keeping my hands off the wheel the entire time it’s engaged. Really solid first release of it!

My update didn’t go well. Drive assist on but lane keep assist won’t engage. Never had this peoblemView attachment 31446
I'm running into the same issue. Drive Assist will engage, but lane centering is not active. Car will drift until lane crossing warning occurs and corrects, but just slowly drives the car into the other lane. Like a bowling ball bouncing between bumpers. The Drive Assist (steering wheel) icon remains grayed out like the image above.

Have tried logo reset, but no success. Another user reported a logo reset was successful. Anyone else come across this issue and the resolution?

If the Drive Assist icon is grayed out, it never engaged. Is ACC working for you?

I’ve read a few posts where folks have used hands free lane changing. I don’t have that option - I can only choose the initiated mode where I hold the turn signal. The hands free driving works well, I just don’t seem to have the menu option to go hands free on lane changing. I have a 2025 AP with DDPro

The car requires you to use the turn signal to initiate a hands free lane change. You have a choice of a short push or a long push.

That’s what I’ve been doing. I went back and looked at the press release on hands free and it even said hands free lane changing - but I suppose initiating the lane change and then letting the car complete it is “hands free?” With regard to posts I’ve seen, perhaps I’m conflating reviews of GM Supercruise - some of those have been in the Lucid post threads and maybe I didn’t know which system was being reviewed.

the camera is in the center of the dashboard under the main display, so if you raise the steering wheel, you might be blocking the camera view of your eyes. try to make sure you can see the camera (little downard bump) clearly from your driving position.

On the Air, that is how it currently works. In the Gravity, it’s the same way, except that it will also suggest lane changes to you. You confirm by tapping the turn signal lever.

Curious on people’s feedback on the new update 2.8.0.

Those that got the update, how is the hands free drive assist? What is your experience? Does it work well or does it keep on disengaging drive assist?
It’s ok. Not great. We also have a Lincoln with their blue cruise which is much better. I hope they improve quickly.

Yeah you can do ACC on city streets and manually steer.
Yeah I use regular ACC on city streets, although I noticed after 2.8 it defaults or auto switches to ACC on the streets if you are not in the pre-mapped stuff. Before It required a 3 second hold of the button to switch modes.

I just completed a 400-mile roundtrip between Dayton and Cleveland OH. Kudos to the Lucid software and tech teams who put this latest update out. I am extremely pleased with the performance of the hands-free driving. As soon as I got onto the freeway the car took over and performed flawlessly until I got into construction traffic in Columbus. The car told me that construction was noted and disabled hands-free. As soon as I got into the clear, hands-free reenabled on its own and worked great. Lane changes worked about 90% of the time after I engaged the turn signal. On occasion the notice on the dash that a lane change had been initiated didn't show up when I hit the turn signal, and I had to complete the lane change manually, but as soon as I got into the new lane the car took over again. Overall, I give the new capability an A grade.

Yep, used hands free all the way from Providence RI until I got off on Route 1 for mid coast Maine. It worked spectacularly, I was super impressed. I used it again all the way back and also was blown away at how smooth and also safe and predictable.

If the Drive Assist icon is grayed out, it never engaged. Is ACC working for you?
Yep, that works as normal and responds to traffic in front. Drive Assist performs similar to ACC currently, but the lane centering does not engage.

Got my car back today...CCV2 upgraded...and 2.8 upgrade...with a new facial recognition camera....drove about an hour on the freeway and immediately feel confident in using in hands free driving ...very certain and nicely done...they added a lot more robustness in this one. Further, the CCV2 upgrade makes the whole car infotainment system feel snappier for me...cameras load up in a jiffy...profile changes take like 7 seconds now...and everything is as it should be in 2025...I'm confident more updates are coming and having double processing power and storage space can only help with larger upgrades down the road...as far as I'm concerned...LUCID knocked this one out of the park....nicely done LUCID...

One behavior I notice today...while wearing sunglasses..when I'd ask the car to change lanes it would flash WATCH THE ROAD message ...when I took the glasses off...it would change lanes like a champ. Also, while driving 50 miles .wearing sunglasses was not an issue...except for this pattern of not changing lanes....so lesson is ..drive with glasses on...before changing lanes..take off sunglasses... 😂
