My CCC upgrade appointment is tomorrow. If they don’t push 2.8.0 to my new unit while my car is sitting at the service center then I’d take that as evidence that 2.8.0 is available only nominally.
My CCC upgrade was installed on 7/31 and I asked the tech to push 2.8.0 to my car at that time. He said that the update is not available yet. He estimated 1-2 weeks. Let us know if they give you 2.8.0 when you upgrade the CCC.My CCC upgrade appointment is tomorrow. Hopefully we will learn more about the status of the 2.8.0 update during the Lucid earnings call on Tuesday. I will be listening as I do every quarter.Really, @borski? Are we going to down this road again? Please re-read my post. I even allowed for beta testers operating under an NDA. I didn't and don't give a flying fig about speculating, but even in the early days of this forum, has there ever been an OTA update released, and several days later not one member has acknowledged receiving it? Is that point so hard to concede?
Notwithstanding, the SOLE point of my post is to note that, for the umpteenth time, Lucid's communications strategy is lacking. Can we not even say something as innocuous as that?
I have a counterpoint. If there is a batch of customers testing this under NDA, what exactly would Lucid be communicating to everyone else? They wouldn't necessarily want to reveal the existence of such a thing not would they need to admit they missed a deadline because they didn't.Really, @borski? Are we going to down this road again? You seem to have gotten offended, and I’m not sure why, but I’m sorry for anything I said that may have offended you. That wasn’t my goal.
This is not the first time they have slow-rolled a release, so yes, there have been other updates which have had similar “forum reporting” delays. One big example is the 2.0 update, but there have been at least half a dozen I can think of like this.
Of course you can. I have no issue with that, and agree communications continues to need improvement. I didn’t say anything about communications or disagree with you about it.
Re-reading your post, I see that it was centered on better comms, and I don’t take issue with that.
My issue was with the speculation and “back channel” hearsay nonsense that runs rampant on these threads anytime things don’t happen precisely as planned.
I see now you don’t engage in that so much, so apologies that you felt targeted.
I have noticed a lot more new fields in testmycode API and now my car is acting strange, it won't update charge status to the app, and it won't AC charge.
Fair enough. Wasn’t trying to take you to any woodshed. You are confusing offended with frustrated. First off, Lucid would never announce that on 'x' date, they are going to release a feature for beta testing. They clearly were announcing a general release. Second... Yes, I agree that there have been slow-roll OTA updates in the past, and I certainly think there could be a situation where one of the very first people to download an update could quickly point out an 'oh, shit' problem, but I don't know of any situation where that happened without anyone either acknowledging receipt of the update, or noting a problem with it. This suggests to me that the update was delayed. No big deal.... Just a confusing turn of events, made worse by a lack of communication.
My real frustration... I always try to provide what I call positive criticism, in that I don't point out something I see as needing fixing if I can't come up with a fix to suggest. Even operating with that objective, my butt cheeks tighten up every time I even think about writing something mildly critical, as I know that I can count on being taken to the woodshed for it... even if it'll take changing the spin of what I said to justify it. Yeah. It's frustrating.
No one reporting they got the update and no one getting the update are two very different things. And we know from many examples that Lucid employees from various departments are often not correct when they confer possible reasons for xyz to customers.Well no one has mentioned that they have the update, and several back channel sources have indicated it is going to be a couple weeks until it is released.
I'm just guessing here, but I suspect that any time changes of a certain nature are made to ADAS software, it triggers a full safety/debugging review. Problems with ADAS software can have very serious ramifications, so I suspect the approval procedures are rather stringent.
That’s not necessarily a safe bet. If your car isn’t scheduled to get 2.8.0, it may not necessarily be pushed during an unrelated service visit. I wouldn’t consider it strong evidence, at least. My CCC upgrade appointment is tomorrow. Company promised ADAS this year on the February earnings call. I would be surprised if they didn't address some delay or get a question on it from the analysts that are closely monitoring. That’s not necessarily a safe bet. But here’s hoping you do get it.
They're not my sources. They're all listed in this thread.Your back channel sources may be incorrect
I’ll take that bet. $200 good?Company promised ADAS this year on the February earnings call. I would be surprised if they didn't address some delay or get a question on it from the analysts that are closely monitoring.
I'm sure they set the July 30 date specifically to be able to tell the street they delivered on their promise. Remember that promises to shareholders are more important than to customers.
Hmmmm...I think I found the 2.8.0 beta tester!I’ll take that bet. $200 good?![]()
I'm very eagerly awaiting the new generation BMW iX3, looking really really impressive so far. Seems to fix most of my issues with the current iX, while hopefully not bringing a lot of new issues (I'm not a fan of the steering wheel touch controls). Official release in a month. For me it'll be that or a cheaper Gravity as possible upgrades from my 2025 Air Pure, probably next year.People definitely started complaining. Lucid hasn't "blown another software update".
Any posts I've made on the subject were to try to help set realistic expectations. Posting "Where's my update" on day one of the announced release date is just unrealistic for Lucid's release process - and their release history. And then getting angry about it on day two. There's no benefit to anyone in getting wound up about it.
I'm no Lucid bro - I've come close to selling my Air a couple times for the 3-year delay in Android Auto, and am still upset about spending $30K for home backup batteries after Lucid failed to deliver on V2H. Haven't pulled the trigger yet on Gravity in case something good enough from a more stable company comes along. So far, nothing comes close.
I don't think the backlash is unwarranted... For me this is very different. Lucid provided a very specific date of the most anticipated updates (ever?), many of us who paid $7,500 or $10,000 on a promise (can't remember) 3 years ago have been patiently waiting. In my two years on this forum, this seems like Deja Vu all over again.Every 6/9 months. Angst over an update. Of the possible virtures of EV car ownership, patience is not one of them.
I wonder if there is an uptick in antidepressants or alcohol sales when Lucid announces an OTA but does not instantly send it out.
