Gravity Bugs / Issues

Okay so after getting my car back from service for key issues I was told my 100% solution was to use the key card only. Don't let the fob even near the vehicle. So be it. It worked for two days until last night's update. Bricked my working key card and the fob. I had to use my back up key card to access the card after 20 minutes trying to get my car to run. I am stunned that this car inherited a known defect from the previous version and these guys still don't know how to fix it. I'm losing patience quickly at this point.
I don’t blame you for your frustration. While I’m not trying to get out any pitch forks or rile up a mob, given the increasing frequency of some of these bugs I’ve made a small working list of things to test and if my Gravity DE when it is ready doesn’t prove they work consistently I may reject delivery. I have a 4 year old and very busy job so I need a reliably working vehicle. I do agree with @hmp10 that their service people are spectacular and trust them to solve any issue so that’s what has kept me loyal this far and optimistic these are early teething issues that caught some by surprise and will be solved rapidly.

A totally unacceptable answer.
Agreed, unless it was followed by “temporarily, while we work out the issues with your vehicle specifically”

I agree, but will also reiterate we’ve had no such issues. One trick I found that worked well with the GT whenever I did have issues was just to hit Lock and then Unlock on the fob. But it was rarely necessary.

No such trick on the DE needed so far 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I have very few issues with HERE, but I guess it really depends on where you drive.
Minimizing the access issue by reiterating you've had no such issue is not helpful. There are so few of these cars (Gravity DE) out there that the fact that multiple people are voicing their concerns and it's now in chorus with a bunch of Air owners means it's a fundamental issue this company must address immediately. My vehicles have a primary job that is to get me where I want to go. All the other bells and whistles are nice but not essential. If I am unable to access my car and get it to drive then it has failed me. I'm patient to a point, after which somebody may get their car back. I'm not new to electric vehicles so understand "teething" issues and this is not that.

Get used to it. I also got a lot of "Well, mine works just fine, so ...". It's very frustrating, but I got over it. You'll also gonna get served the "Other brands have the same issues" cold dish. There's an entire menu to be discovered :)

The biggest problem that I have with Lucid's bugs is not the bugs in themselves, but the inconsistency. Some cars have them, others don't, there is no rhyme or reason. That tells me that this is a structural problem, that goes beyond "we'll fix it later". I've noticed that with Air, now with Gravity. The hope is that they will get their quality right, until then I'm just holding back on any further buys from Lucid, and watch the thread developing 🍿

I love my Air but it required a full re-calibration of expectations.

Does anyone else find the spoiler on the liftgate to be, for lack of a better word, squishy? If I press on the top of the liftgate the door itself doesn't move, but there's about 1cm of flex in the spoiler. I can't tell if this is intentional or not.

I completely agree that the issue needs to be addressed, and I am confident there are people diligently working on it.

Your statement, however, is a non sequitur. While both Air and Gravity have some issues with entry systems, they use different technologies supplied by (presumably) different suppliers. They do not have the same root cause. One does not imply the other

We know the problem is not universal on Gravity. Comments from owners who have no problems are useful as it helps provide some context.

People may remember Apple's iPhone 4 antenna problems. Their redesign used the metal exterior frame of the phone as antennas. The signal strength dropped significantly when held in the left hand. Steve Jobs responded that people "were holding it wrong."

The point is that no amount of preproduction testing will encompass every scenario. No matter how mature the company.

There is clearly a problem. It's not a one-off. But it's not (apparently) a high percentage of vehicles. The sky is not falling and Gravity's key issues are different than Air's.

As a first time Lucid owner, "get used to it" was not the response I was hoping for.

FWIW Lucid does read this site so imagine they’re all over it. Also it’s useful to learn these issues are not universal as if it were then it would be more likely to be isolated to a single problem rather than whack a mole. We shall see…🤷‍♂️

I’m not minimizing a thing.

I am relaying my own experience, just like you are relaying yours.

The alternative is for me to stay silent and pretend I’ve had the same experience as you, which would be dishonest and especially not useful.

It’s okay that we’ve had different experiences. That doesn’t make your experience okay.

I found the same, and noted it for them to fix.

That’s not what I said.
I said that. Because it's the easiest way to come to grip with the reality and start focusing on the great parts of the car.

What is the alternative? Don't get used to it, because it's an exception? It never happened before and it won't happen again? :)

To be fair as you’ve maybe seen already there are a wide array of responses and experiences. I would not say “get used to it”, as in my experience many issues (with the exception of SOME people’s mobile key and fob experience), have been fixed, features added, and more than a few promises delivered, albeit later than initially advertised, and those promises that haven’t been delivered are still actively in the works, even including V2H. I think it’s kinda cool they even are offering upgraded infotainment processing to the snappy 2025 GT experience, never heard of another automaker doing that. So while some on here think the car sucks, some accept the glitches in a disgruntled way, some give benefit of the doubt and are perhaps a little too patient (I put myself into this camp), and others for whatever reason actually have very little to complain about, so it’s a smorgasbord of experience. That in no way should minimize or dismiss any issues you’re having, but I wouldn’t say get used to it….I’d say fixes are “to be determined but are likely”.

I love the car when it works. As I sit in my office and lunch is approaching I'm guessing it's 50/50 if my car is going to let me take it to lunch. I've been told the key issue with the Air are not related to the Gravity with different designs and vendors in place, yet the feedback between the two owner groups sounds very similar, coincidence?

Trying to remain positive here but it's a little alarming how quickly my concerns are addressed by people who are quick to dismiss or diminish by particular issues as being unique.

In the end, it doesn't matter what the forum people say, it's how Lucid will make it right to you.

Maybe the problem isn't the wireless technology but the software?
I'm biased as an RFIC designer but I bet there are no problems with the supplier (who probably sell to many other manufacturers that have working keys). The root cause is probably incompetent software engineers. :p

The individual engineers are rarely incompetent. The problem is more upstream usually: managerial, framework, strategy.

I think what was meant was "get used to forum members minimizing or excusing your complaints without much, if any, empathy." You can try to rail against it, but it won't get you far.
