Gravity Delivery Discussion

Is the Lucid Gravity Losing Momentum?

Excitement for the Lucid Gravity was high — but now, that energy is fading. Interest is fizzling, and distrust is growing.

Weeks have passed with no updates, no communication, and no clarity. For many early reservation holders, the silence is more frustrating than the delays. And it’s starting to show — people are canceling.

Lucid had a chance to build real momentum, but the lack of transparency is costing them. The Lucid still has potential, but they need to act fast. Customers don’t need perfection — just honesty and updates. Right now, we’re not getting either.

It certainly hasn’t been the greatest of launches for a new model. We’re now going to be entering the 3rd launch once momentum gets going. Just like the hype from December was lost, the hype from March has been lost also.

Fingers crossed they can get things back on track and do another media blitz when they’re truly showing up in real owners driveways which seems imminent now.

Mine is at Millbrae, so I am plenty excited.

Are you sure interest is fizzling, and distrust growing? Perhaps you're just annoyed at having to wait? I get the impatience. But Lucid said all along that the ramp would be extremely slow, because they wanted to make sure that the vehicles were great when they were delivered. They're clearly going slower than they'd hoped or planned. I want the company to be successful, and I'm personally impatient to find out when my Gravity order might be fulfilled. But I don't think that a 6 month delay in starting order fulfillment is going to make or break the success of the vehicle.

Opened the Google search app on my phone and it showed me a Gravity AD. Why advertise when you cannot deliver a single car in more than two months? A sign of production ramping up? Only God knows.

Although our first Gravity got the final 3.1.7 software download on June 12 and I think the car may be in transport, I still haven't received the final invoice for making payment. I have already been sent the wiring instructions but was told the invoice would not be issued for funds to be sent until right before delivery.

Have any of you expecting imminent delivery been asked yet to make payment? If so, how far ahead of expected delivery?

Honestly, Lucid would be far better off at this point to just start making deliveries with little fanfare. Most people, even people with decent knowledge of EVs, believe that the Gravity has already entered production and deliveries are being made, even if they are slow. Lucid has actually been very lucky that they haven't gotten a ton of negative press about the Gravity catastrophe - and I'm afraid if they do any type of event, they may trigger all of the media people to say, "wait. What? The Gravity hasn't been being produced the last 3 months?". And then there will be negative articles, not positive.

Just start making deliveries and let's get on with it. Just deliver vehicles at this point.

Following as I'd like to know this process for when it's time. With all this up in the air for delivery, that could mess with financing and moving funds around. Not exactly comforting to watch you all very close to delivery and things like wiring and payment are still up in the air...

I had similar thoughts yesterday... I still haven't received a final invoice or wiring instructions yet either. Another reason I'm not holding my breath quite yet for imminent delivery.

I totally agree. This is nothing new. I had to deal with this with Tesla, Porsche, and even Mercedes. However, they did update me of every stage of my vehicle. I get it, there can be delays that’s out of the hands of Lucid, but communicate that to the buying customers. Just giving an eta and then seeing that time come and pass is frustrating to say the least.

Oh I agree with your point, but as I have written earlier. Not communicating with your customers of the status can make impatience turn into frustration. Right now, our SA are just giving us a standard message. That’s not good enough IMO. It’s not like they have tens of thousands of orders to keep track of.

I’ve always wired money last minute. Ever since my first Tesla in early 2013 when I wired the day before “delivery” and got the car 17 days later….that’s not a small float on six figures. If you’re financing, that makes it even tougher.

Regardless, I’d advise not wiring until you know 100% you’re taking delivery on the Gravity the next day, etc.

Mine's supposed to arrive this week, and I still haven't received the final invoice yet. Another reason I'm not convinced it's actually happening.

Borski, how are they handling your current Gravity? I assume they're letting you trade it back in? How did they work the trade-in valuation on that one?

He got to drive it with no strings attached…he was essentially doing it for the feedback and testing. It’s like they owe him $$ now
