Y3ah its very ridiculous...I can't believe how horrible people can be. I am so sorry you had to deal with that, just because you own a truck. Disgusting.

Placed order today. Updated order page here with my details. Just wanted to get into the queue and trying to target a late winter or early spring delivery. Let you early adopters sus out the gremlins. Went with Aurora Green and worried about choosing the most common color. But being I am in Houston, not much chance of seeing other green Gravities every day. I think I have seen a total of 5 Airs in past couple years in Houston area.
If a priority is to stand out, you can always get your Gravity wrapped! Then you can be the only person in town with a cherry red or royal purple Gravity. (Or a boring unique color, if you'd rather.)I placed my order today mainly to secure my spot in the queue, aiming for a late winter or early spring delivery. I figured it’s smart to let the early adopters find the bugs first. I went with Aurora Greenw as torn, since it might end up being a popular choice. But honestly, I live in Houston and hardly ever see Lucid vehicles, let alone in green. I think I’ve seen five Airs total in the last couple years here. So even if it becomes common nationally, chances are it’ll still feel unique in my day-to-day driving around town.
I agree with both your thoughts. White and black are sooo common. Current Mercedes GLE 63s AMG is Bronze/Brown and we have never seen another in 9 years of ownership (have seen a few normal GLE’s in brown.). Virtually all AMG GLEs are white or black. To be fair, the wife’s Mercedes 450 is white but is convertable with blue top and blue dash, carpets that pop against the white seats. If a priority is to stand out, you can always get your Gravity wrapped! I went with the Aurora Green because I really don't want a black or white car.
You should tell the kids they have to wash and polish the car, then...On the wrap idea, my kids both said I should give Gravity a chrome wrap like the show vehicle at New York launch event.
My post above answered the color choice question. As for timing, the GLE 63 will be 10 years old next year and although I would love to have a new Gravity in the next month or two (which even if I was and early order, will not be happening) I am OK with waiting 8-10 months to allow Lucid to work out any early production kinks. The removal of HUD and then replacement of HUD on order page was the final straw to get me to place order. What factors did you consider when choosing your EV’s color and delivery timing, and how much did seeing (or not seeing) others on the road influence your decision?

Color choice was easy for me: I refuse to pay extra for a paint color. It has no value to me, and I see no reason why some colors should cost more than others. All of the available colors for Gravity seem rather bland as well. Aurora Green might be my favorite, but it's not very green (though I hear that it looks better in-person than in photos). Bronze seems nice, but it's still pretty ordinary. The only Lucid color that excites me is Zenith Red, and there is nothing similar for Gravity. I don't particularly want a black vehicle, especially living in the Southeast, but I'll take the "free" color. What factors did you consider when choosing your EV’s color and delivery timing, and how much did seeing (or not seeing) others on the road influence your decision?

With Gravity, there is a reason that black is included for free. All of the Gravity colors have a back area near the cantrails. This black area requires non-black cars to make two passes through the paint shop. The black is painted, then mask off and the body color is painted. With black, it is all painted in one pass. It is definitely cheaper for Lucid to paint a black car than any other color.I see no reason why some colors should cost more than others
Not true I have a Gravity on order and my SA tells me I should receive it in late June or early July. I live in the Houston areaMy post above answered the color choice question. As for seeing a Gravity on the road, I live in Houston and my guess is that the first Gravity I see on the road will be my own 10 months from now. Yesterday I had maybe my 8th sighting of an Air on the road. With Houston being a very SUV centric city, I expect the Gravity to greatly improve Lucid visibility in our area.

Sapphire is harderSame thing with the Zenith Red Airs which have a tinted clear coat (I know, it's an oxymoron) that the other colors don't.
Except clear coats tinted (like Zenith red) or un-tinted are a separate pass through the clear coat paint shop line. But your comment is interesting about the problem with doing a Zenith read Gravity, it may look funny to apply a tinted clear coat to the black trim area. This may be the reason that it was not offered as a color choice for Gravity.Same thing with the Zenith Red Airs which have a tinted clear coat (I know, it's an oxymoron) that the other colors don't.

So yes, white is somewhat boring, but…. I had originally ordered Lunar Titanium but when informed that it wouldn’t be available until “winter” I changed it to white. Why? Because we live in the mountains of Utah (home elevation is 6,250’). Any “dark” car, including a mid level silver which is the color of my current vehicle, looks terrible in the winter. The dried salt mixed with melted snow and sand stands out starkly on just about any vehicle except, ironically, white. My wife’s white Lexus always looks fairly clean compared to mine or other vehicles with any other color. So boring white it is. I noticed a post that said the “next” vehicle batch after green & black was to include white so that might hint at an earlier delivery date than some other color. It strikes me odd, though, that in a majority of the early promo videos of the Gravity the vehicle appears to be Lunar Titanium. I wonder what happened.I agree with both your thoughts. Thank you for the details about Lucid's paint process. It always seemed to me that most vehicle manufacturers simply label some colors "premium" and charge an absurd fee for them. Even so, knowing that some paint colors actually cost more to apply doesn't change my decision: I just don't care enough about the exterior color of my car, especially when none of the optional colors excite me. So, the more expensive colors have no value to me. Same goes for the platinum vs. stealth appearance. You want me to pay $1000 extra for some shiny bits? Hell, no.Same thing with the Zenith Red Airs which have a tinted clear coat (I know, it's an oxymoron) that the other colors don't.

I do appreciate it when an auto maker offers a variety of colors for no extra charge. Look at all of the different color and appearance options that you can get on a Mini, for example, all at no extra cost. And these are relatively inexpensive cars. It bugs me when a luxury brand charges an arm and a leg for cosmetic trim pieces on a vehicle that is already expensive (and has a higher profit margin to begin with).
