You’re making a *whole lot* of assumptions here. I don’t know that you’re wrong, but you also don’t know that you’re right. Lots of reasons it could be taking a lot longer. For example:

1) Google has a queue that is prioritized by “number of devices affected,” and Lucid is going to be very low on that list

2) Lucid sent in AA right before a major version change by Google, requiring them to redo a ton of work and/or start over

3) Google and Lucid are struggling to agree to some contractual terms, around privacy or something else.

4) A dozen other reasons

I have no idea if any of them are true. But if we’re going to speculate, none of these are necessarily any more obviously true than the others.

Having said that, I think every manufacturer that confirmed they would support Android Auto has already been supporting it for a while. So Google, if they are prioritizing someone else, that someone else is likely not another car manufacturer. Maybe Google is waiting on some off-the-shelf head unit developers then? Maybe.

Also, i am not sure on those $500 devices having AA is certified by Google or not.

Does it really matter? Nobody is looking at the certificate of Google approval for these devices. They all work fine. I said $500 units, but you can find well-rated units for well below $200 (see this or so many others in this amazon search). Vehicle manufacturers figured out Android Auto long before EVs other than Tesla came around. There is absolutely no reason for a manufacturer to take as long as Lucid has (or they should have just said "no we are not doing it", like some of the others did).

There is no question I enjoy the drive on this car. This is the best one that I've ever had. I say this to anyone who asks me about Lucid, and that's the first thing I tell them.

However, this is also one of the worst cars when it comes to software features and audio, in this price category or even at half this price. There is no question about that either. This is the second thing I tell anyone who asks me.

I love Lucid, but I have no problem saying they are doing a terrible job with software in general, and android auto in particular.

Sorry, my point wasn't to imply you were stating anything as fact. I just meant to imply that there are *many* possible reasons, and I don't think the one you suggested is any more likely than any of the rest. That's all.

Sounds like a great idea. In fact, I did just that since late 2022. We have literally millions of miles worth of results. Here is what I have learned: buy a car that already has the features you want. Waiting for new ones, even though they may have been teased or even promised, is futile.

I agree. But there is a fine line between a "feature" and an "improvement". An improvement is just a feature that builds upon a feature that is already there, and you can't really request the new feature that until you experience that base feature. So it seems fair to ask for improvements.

Similarly, once we use a system, sometimes we discover gaps that need to be filled. It might be reasonable to say, "Well, you should have no bought the car if that was important to you." But it's nearly impossible to test drive a car enough to discover these gaps before purchase. Plus, don't forget that the whole UX has undergone major changes, so the car isn't exactly what we purchased in our test drive.

Lastly, I was being generous when I said that I wanted to post improvement requests. Many of these are outright bugs. I'll give one as an example:

If I unlock my car, then place items in the trunk and close the trunk lid, by the time I get to my driver's door the car has locked itself again. I can't actually say if this is a change in behavior - maybe it has been there since day one. But even if it has, I think it is reasonable to ask for an "improvement" to fix this.

I have a list of 20 or so items. What is your guidance? Should I post those here, or can you incorporate those into an updated LucidUpdates wishlist?

Also, if I post them here, it will be a confusing conversation if they are all in one post. Do you recommend many different posts, so folks can interact with each? Or is there another solution? Thanks for the guidance.

Its got me trained:

1- Use 2477 1 AH long life battery in fob in fake leather case.
2 - At Supermarket, push door handles first, then go to trunk and push button. Dot dash push of fob works extremly rarely, and I never use it.
3 - Carry card as emergency unlock.
4 - I have never been able to find the camera in the key fob unlock video. I suspect that video is of another model.
5 - Keep wifi off. That makes Sirius almost reliable. (Turning car off/on fixes most Sirius problems; 2 button + brake fixes the rest.)

BUT - Car looks great and its a pleasure to drive!!

Soften music when open doors

I could've SWORN this happened recently when I was picking my son up from someone's house. I had the music absolutely cranking, but the volume dropped when he opened the door (I didn't see him coming but I had unlocked the door once I parked, anticipating him getting in at some point). I distinctly remember thinking, "that's awesome that the volume dropped since I had it so loud." I normally make it a point to reduce the volume first, but this was the first time the door was opened while it was loud. I'll re-test to verify.

At supermarket, I walk towards the car and the doors unlock before I arrive. I open the trunk because the car is unlocked when I get there.

I turned that off because it kept locking and unlocking when I was working in my garage. I would be content with a simple 'trunk open' button on my keyfob like my Wife's Lexus and every econo-car I have rented in the past few years has.

I see. I work at home and have the same issue to some extent (the garage is within BT range). After a number of false positives, passive unlocking gets disabled and mobile key gets disabled completely so that it doesn't keep happening. At that point, you open the app to wake up the car, then push the door handle to open. The wake up can take a while....I'm going to experiment with disabling wifi (based on suggestion from mobile tech yesterday), or getting better about waking up the car from the app 30 secs before I walk out the door instead of standing near the door getting That Look(tm) from my beloved.

Am I missing something....doesn't the fob have a trunk open feature, specifically? I don't use the fob any more at all, but I recall testing all the functions when I first got the car, and that worked.

• Press once to lock all doors and front and rear trunks.
• Press twice to unlock all doors and front and rear trunks.
• Press and hold the button to open or close the front trunk.
• Give it a short press, followed by a long press to open or close the rear trunk.
• Press the button four times for the panic alarm to trigger; to cancel the panic alarm, press the button four times again or twice to unlock it.

Please report back on your ability to use short then long press to open the trunk. I never get the timing right.

I'd describe it a bit differently.
To open all doors is press twice.
To open the trunk, press twice, holding the second press and the trunk should open.

In my experience it takes an uncomfortably long time to respond, but it does work. I have passive unlock disabled so I'll always unlock the car with the FOB prior to opening the trunk.
