Gravity Delivery Discussion

Got a call that my DE was going to production and I was not expecting such a quick turnaround since I only booked it 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately will have to cancel and take the 1K hit for the deposit.

I kind of agree with one of the other posts on the forum that range trumps HP and will wait and see if the Gravity sees the same sales from early adaptors as was the case with the Air GT and DE’s.
Happy and excited for those who are about to receive theirs over the next month or so.

On a Sunday evening!? Or just posting now?

Also, where are you? I wonder if they are delivering to specific regions that have been trained up on maintenance first.

I got the text message request to confirm our order configurations late on the afternoon of Easter Sunday. Since the studios are open on Sundays and these calls come from our sales advisors I guess that's not too surprising. But it seems that the sales advisors are passing on requests they're getting from Lucid HQ, and that does surprise me a bit. Maybe working long hours during the delivery ramp up?

And this, right here, is why people are still getting offered DEs. :)

Probably true.

The irony is that the range penalty for the GDE is actually quite small -- either 16 or 27 miles depending on wheel choice. And that's based on using the entire battery pack, which is almost never done. So, with most people using somewhat less than the full pack capacity between charges on a road trip, the difference in range between stops will actually be quite negligible.

On top of that, the access to Superchargers and the charging speed of the Gravity make charging considerably less of an issue than it is with the Airs.

From my perspective, the extra 242 horsepower of the DE comes with no significant trade-off.

Well, other than the price increase, at least from my standpoint! 😊

So how do you think the Gravity production line is running now?

This is an oversimplification because exterior color, seat configuration, and other options are also considered with production:
It sounds like, based on what has been published and what we are seeing from social media posts, GDE production is running to satisfy the desired 450 GDEs?
A customer ordering a GDE two weeks ago also seems to indicate this. Therefore, Lucid is seeking GDE customers (demand) in order to match the planned production (supply).

GGT production is also running, but limited due to the HUD supply issue; GGT w/o HUD for customers not choosing the HUD?

Production of GGTs w/HUDs is completed as much as possible, excluding the HUD and Dynamic Lighting?
Once HUDs are back in stock (fall) GGT w/HUD production resumes?

Probably true.

This was exactly where my thoughts were as well. The range is not drastic and really a non-starter compared to other new EV vehicles. I mean even ICE vehicles are less than the GDE's range.
Smarter for people to wait and see regarding whatever features they want and willing to spend. I think if I were not planning on keeping this new vehicle for +10 years, I would buy a cheap Tesla and play the waiting game.

To edit as my time ran out:

1. Temp solution and then take delivery as if nothing changed (+ time / = money)
2. Settle/pivot with really what you want and need and get the GGT now with the options offered at less money ( - time / - money)
3. Upgrade to GDE ( = time / + money)

I’ve seen your posts, so I know :).

My configuration is the same as @Udon1122’s, and different wheels from @billvb but otherwise similar. Maybe it’s all just random though!

@hydbob, any sign of a VIN in your account?

The vehicle loaded on the /portal/documentation page either depends on the last order you selected in your account dashboard, or the vin query parameter. But if your Gravity status is still “Ordered” then I guess it makes sense.
Nothing here and I KNOW I had the very first DE order LOL.

Now that's downright weird. Any idea as to why, especially as you're getting the Aurora Green / Tahoe combo that is definitely coming off the production line already?

Obviously because I don't complain as much as @borski 🤣
