We are nice enough to have an owner volunteer to do an AMA about their ownership experience with the Gravity so far.

Please post a question but also if your question has been asked, please vote it up so the most sought after questions are at the top of the list.

Anything off topic or not a question will be deleted. Keep this organized!

Does the glass roof allow 'too much sun'? Does it a good job of reducing or elimination UV/IR - keeping the tanning and temps down in cabin?
How does it handle the sun and heat? Hmm… Well, so far, it seems to be doing a really good job! We haven't had super hot weather yet, just lovely spring temps, but I haven't felt too warm because of the roof or like there's too much sun coming in.

The real test is definitely going to be our upcoming hot, sunny California summer days! We did tint the roofs on Borski's Air and my IONIQ 5 for the summer heat. Right now, with the weather we've had, I don't feel like I need to run out and get the Gravity tinted. But check back with me in August or September after we've had some real heat waves, and I might have changed my tune then! I need to live through a summer in order to say for sure how it handles the heat and sun.

Also, the view is amazing, especially since it goes all the way back! At one point, @borski said it feels kind of like being in a helicopter with the big surround view, no matter where you're sitting - and he was totally right. It really opens up the cabin and makes it feel less like a normal car inside. It's nice for the third row too, keeping it from feeling like a cave back there.

What is UX 3.0 like in its current state? Feature wise, update frequency, bugs, etc? Thank you so much!

Have you seen a lot of updates for tuning the UX, performance and features of the car since receiving it? If so, what’s that been like?

Natively, does UX3 still use HERE maps and (Lucid) navigation?

If you've tried, will your Gravity charge with the Tesla UMC Gen 2?

How effective are the ventilated seats? I've found performance varies widely across vehicle implementations (and is usually disappointing). Same question on massaging -- is this just "cycle the lumbar support" nonsense or are there actually mechanical rollers?

Okay, now for the "UX 3.0" (@xponents, @billvb). I've been really happy with it. If you remember what the system was like way back when the first Air Dream Editions came out (like the 1.o software), like Borski's, the tech in the Gravity feels like it's come a long way. It starts up way faster when you hop in the car, and using the screens feels really quick and responsive. I haven't run into any annoying lag or glitches just using it day to day. While I haven't been keeping close track of software updates or specifically looking for bugs, my everyday experience using the system has just been smooth and positive.

I think Lucid did a good job mixing the touchscreens with physical controls for stuff you use all the time. There's even a programmable button you can set up as a shortcut for whatever you want, which is pretty handy. Finding your way around the menus feels pretty straightforward once you've played with it a little bit... Like any new car, it takes a minute to find your way around, but it wasn't challenging to learn. The screens are really beautiful too! That big 6K OLED display is super sharp and clear. Seriously, if you ever get a chance at a Lucid Studio, ask them to play that immersive nature demo for you. It's pretty wild how it uses the screens, the Atmos sound system, and all the ambient lights together. It really shows off what the display can do.

Regarding the maps (@BS8899), honestly, I haven't peeked under the hood to see exactly which map provider, like HERE, is running things (I'm not nearly as tech savvy as many of the people on this forum). I know that the built-in Lucid navigation has worked well for me and has gotten me where I was going just fine. Maybe @borski can speak to it more..?

Now for the seats (@jered)! The massage feature in the front seats feels awesome, just like the one in the Air Dream Edition! When we first got the Air, I expected the massaging seats to be super uncomfortable, like the massage seats at a nail salon - but Lucid really delivered on those! It's the same in my Gravity - they are almost every passenger's favorite feature. I also really appreciate them on longer drives. For heating and cooling, the front seats have both, and the steering wheel heats up nicely, too. My hands tend to get cold easily, so the heated steering wheel is on pretty much all the time. For the peeps in the back, the second row seats have heating, too. To be clear, the second row seats do not have that active cooling feature like the front ones do, and the middle seat doesn't have heating; however, there are AC/Heating vents directly in front of the middle seat. The third row seats don't have heating or cooling at all, but they do have good AC/heating vents back there to keep passengers comfy.

Keeping everyone comfy in the back relies on the main climate control system. There are separate temperature zones for the driver and the front passenger, and another climate zone for everyone in the back, covering both the second and third rows together. There are plenty of air vents, including those specifically for the third row I mentioned above, so you can get good airflow to keep passengers comfortable. Honestly, having dedicated vents way back there is huge. Again... can't tell you how many times I've felt like I was practically melting in the third row of an Uber on a warm day! Makes a real difference for anyone sitting in the very back.

Did you own another SUV before acquiring the gravity? If so, what brand/model? In terms of space (passenger and cargo), how does the Gravity compare with your old/former SUV, especially in terms of accommodating large, bulky items (e.g., strollers, kids care seats, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.)?
Are there any accessories available for the Gravity (sun shades, roof shade, frunk seat pad, Charge plug adaptors)?
What is the width and length of the cargo space with all rear seats folded down, i.e. what are the dimensions of the largest sheet of plywood that one can fit in the back?
@hydbob took some interior measurements and reported them on this thread:
“can-you-haul-a-4x8-sheet-of-drywall”
Have you had many people in the vehicle, and what was their first reaction?
Cargo space! (@BS8899, @JB67, @Penguin). We recently had a real-world test of this when we got new bedroom furniture. It came with an absolutely insane amount of cardboard packaging; seriously, our dining room looked like a shipping warehouse! I was originally planning to feed it all into our recycling bin slowly over several months, but we decided to haul it all at once. We folded down the second and third rows, and managed to stuff the Gravity practically floor to ceiling with cardboard. It was incredible how much it held. I'm pretty sure it would have taken at least two trips in my IONIQ 5. While fitting a specific 4x8 sheet of plywood (@JB67, @Penguin) isn't something I've tried myself, the cargo area definitely seems more than capable for those occasional big, bulky hauling needs (@BS8899). It's one of those "bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside" things, great for those rare times you suddenly need a ton of space.

Now, let's talk about one of my absolute favorite features, though I think @borski initially thought it might be a gimmick before totally changing his mind: frunking! (@illopp00 partially) I genuinely love it. I'm not someone who enjoys just standing around, like at Lucids & Lattes events or when people are just hanging out by their cars. The frunk bench lets me actually sit down comfortably, have my coffee, but still be right there and part of the conversation. We've used it in practical ways, too, like pulling over at a beautiful overlook on Hwy 1 where there were no benches. We popped open the frunk, sat with a blanket, and enjoyed the view. @borski and I have enjoyed our morning coffee sitting in it at our house, facing our neighbor's beautiful garden. It's surprisingly comfortable, and knowing you can just hose it out if it gets dirty (and it even has drainage holes), plus having that 110V outlet right there, makes it such a nice place to be.

Inside, other practical things stand out too. Those tray tables in the second row (@BS8899 implicitly) are incredibly sturdy. I mean, they feel rock solid, not flimsy at all. I have used them for doing homework on, and my niece used them for lunch on the go with no problem. Having the USB-C ports right near them is convenient, too.

As for specific accessories (@ilopp00), I know Lucid has mentioned modular accessories coming for that huge center console, which I'm definitely looking forward to for better organization in there. As for things like sunshades, the frunk bench (which is super comfy btw) or specific charging adapters, I don't have info on those right now, other than the 1000V CCS to NACS adapter.

And thinking about passengers (@JB67), the overall experience seems great. My niece was comfortable using the super solid tray table, my sister and I enjoyed sitting in the frunk on Highway 1 while others explored. The combination of the spaciousness, the big view from the glass roof, those third row vents, and features like the tray tables really makes it a comfortable place to be, no matter where you're sitting. We've also used the USB-C ports quite a bit for charging phones on the go, and their placement is generally really convenient. Though I did notice the third row USB-C ports are a bit too recessed, meaning you'd need to find a pretty thin cable connector, which is feedback we passed along...

Yup, it's still HERE. Works great though 🤷‍♂️

What is the charging curve looking like? Real world range? Road noise as quiet or better than the Air? Did they give you a CCS adapter or is that something to purchase aftermarket? Thanks for taking the time to do this!
What are the charging speeds with NACS and CCS? Are they any noticeable difference with charging speed ? What’s your actual efficiency numbers ?

Thank you for doing this. I/we deeply appreciate it.
I have to admit right off the bat, I'm not your best source for the super technical details here! So far, I've just been plugging it in Level 2 right here at home, and that's been totally fine for keeping it charged up for my driving. It can handle really fast home charging, at 80A, if your house is set up for it, just like the Air.

Anyway, the main thing is I haven't actually used a DC fast charger with it yet. So, I really can't tell you from personal experience what the speeds are like, how the curve looks, or anything about NACS versus CCS charging when you're out on the road. But, about that CCS adapter question (@98point1), yes! It comes with one. Apparently, it's some kind of special 1000V CCS to NACS adapter, which sounds pretty neat!

If you want to get into the weeds on the fast charging performance, @borski pointed me towards a video from @outofspeckyle

But the gist I got was that they seemed super impressed, saying things about how incredibly fast it can charge, and how it's the first car that can do Plug and Charge on the Tesla Supercharger network that has the NACS port built right in. They even showed it charging faster than some other well-known EVs, even on chargers that weren't putting out their max power. So, it definitely sounds like Lucid focused a lot on making the level 3 charging part really good and convenient.

Now, something I can talk about from experience is the road noise compared to the Air (@98point1)! Just driving around town and on the highway, the Gravity actually feels noticeably quieter inside to me than @borski's Air does. The cabin just feels really calm and peaceful. It's super easy to chat with people in the back seats without having to raise your voice, which is really nice.

Thank you for taking the time to do this! I know it can feel like a lot! I’m even more excited for this vehicle than before!

Hi, thanks so much for doing this! Long time viewer/browser of these forums since we reserved our Gravity (to replace my wife’s Model X) and this thread finally got me off my b$tt to register.

I thought I read somewhere (hope I’m not imagining it) that the Gravity would have security features similar to Teslas - Sentry mode - that use the cameras to record events when the car is parked/unoccupied. Does your have this feature and if so, how does it work and do you like it?

Thanks again and really appreciate the time you are taking to do this!

Sorry can’t edit my post yet since I’m new and waiting for a moderator. I believe Lucid is calling this “Halo Secure” on the Gravity on their website. Thanks!

Thanks for the AMA! Really nice to get answers from an actual owner.

A lot of my questions have already been asked above, but I do have a couple more:

1. Is the under floor storage (where third row seats stow in the 7-seat config) deep enough to accommodate the height of grocery bags with floor cover / lid in place?

2. There has been mention of YouTube, Zoom and other apps available for entertainment and productivity (hoping for Netflix too). Are these apps currently available in the OS installed in your vehicle? If so, any comments on the user experience? I frequently watch YouTube clips or Disney+ or Netflix shows while fast-charging in my current vehicle. Hoping to do same in my Gravity.

@hydbob took some interior measurements and reported them on this thread:
“can-you-haul-a-4x8-sheet-of-drywall”
What is the distance between the back of the drivers seat, when the drivers seat is all the way back (with the seat back as if someone was sitting in it), and the front of the 2nd row bottom cushion?
And how deep (front to back) is the 2nd row seat?

I wondered because I would like to get an idea of how much room there is in the 2nd row for people with long legs.
What is the front seat height off the ground with the seat lowered all the way…….when the vehicle is in its “entry” height, if it has one?
Can you put the front seat all the way back with the 2nd row folded?
Wow, lots of great questions asking for specific measurements! Okay, I grabbed a tape measure and did my best to get some numbers for you all. Hope this helps!

First, about the underfloor storage area where the third row folds down (@bryway), I think you mean the sub-trunk? I measured the depth in there, and it looks like it's about 11 inches deep. I use this space all the time for groceries.

Regarding the second-row space (@JB67), I measured the seat cushion depth, and it’s approximately 20 inches deep.

For legroom, I put the driver's seat where it's comfy for me (I'm about 5'9") and measured behind it. With me sitting in the back seat, there was roughly 10 inches of space between the back of the driver's seat and my knees.

Regarding the seat height from the cushion to the ground (@JB67), when I manually set the air suspension to its absolute lowest setting, I measured the distance from the ground up to seat, and it was approximately 26 inches.

Someone also asked if you can put the front seat all the way back, even when the second row is folded down (@JB67). I tested this out! I folded the second row flat, then pushed the driver's seat all the way back and reclined it as far as it would go (way further back than I would ever actually position it). It fit just fine without hitting the folded seat.

Now, about the big cargo area dimensions and fitting a 4x8 sheet of plywood (@Penguin, @JB67). While I can tell you from my cardboard hauling adventure that the space back there is HUGE when the seats are down, I didn't actually measure the specific length and width of the flat floor area needed to confirm if a 4x8 sheet would fit perfectly flat. Sorry, I don't have that exact number for you!

Hopefully, these measurements give you a better real-world sense of the space and dimensions! Let me know if anything needs clarification.

An extra, adorable pic of Dobby, just because... :)

Now that you've lived with the Gravity for several months, what are your dislikes or areas where there could be improvement?
Can I ask what you don’t like? Anything annoying so far, or anything you wish they did differently?
Hey @NoseyReporter and @PetevB! Asking about dislikes or things that could be improved is always fair – no car is absolutely perfect...

Honestly, it's tough for me to find things I truly dislike about the Gravity so far; I'm really enjoying it! But if I'm thinking about areas for potential improvement or minor annoyances, a couple of things come to mind.

I think I previously mentioned when talking about the USB-C ports, the ones way back in the third row are pretty deeply recessed. It seems like you might need a charging cable with a thinner connector end to plug in easily back there. It's not a huge deal, but something we noticed and passed along as feedback to Lucid.

Another thing is more about convenience. The way the second-row seats fold down flat is really clever! They drop down a bit first so the seat back can lie flatter, which is great for cargo. However, lifting those seats back up into position takes quite a bit of effort, at least for me, and I think I’m a reasonably strong woman! Now, to be fair, @borski (my big, strong husband) doesn't find them particularly heavy to put back into place, and does it with one hand… While this isn’t a big deal for now, I imagine being post-surgery, postpartum, or with arms full of children or puppies, trying to wrangle the seat back into place with one arm... this seems potentially challenging. My wish would be that just like there's an easy way to make them fold down, there could be a button to help them come back up automatically, too. I’ve shared this feedback with Lucid, and they are really receptive to hearing about these kinds of real-world use experiences.

Also, while the glass roof has been great so far, I'm keeping an eye on whether I might want to add some extra tint (or buy the eventual roof shades, like on the Air) once the really hot summer weather hits, just for maximum comfort on blazing sunny days. But that's more of a potential future thing than a current dislike.

Overall, these are pretty minor issues in the grand scheme of things. I'm incredibly happy with the car!

Any issues with the car unlocking like those noted with the Air? What have you been using as your 'key'?

Any recurring tech glitches you've notes?

Picture and review of the HUD?

Dream drive pro thoughts?

Android Auto?
