Hello everyone. I am a longtime and multiple Tesla owner. I took delivery of a gold performance Dream Edition with 21" wheels last Saturday the 30th at the Lucid Delivery Event. I am excited to share my experience and answer your questions. I turned the car back into Lucid after the event and they are shipping it to the East Coast. It's on a truck in Colorado at the moment heading to Chicago. Hoping it arrives in the next week. In the meantime I made a video of my experience at the delivery event.

Glad to hear from you and looking forward to anything you can tell us about your experience with the car!

Are you the President and founder of the Delaware Valley Tesla Owners Club? (We just bought our second Tesla -- a Model S Plaid -- in August and are anxiously awaiting our Dream Performance.)

Congrats!

I have a few easy ones. Which color is your interior? Do you have charging installed at home or just using the 14-50 plug? How's the ride, smoothness and sound level?

Congrats on your Model S! I have yet to test drive a Plaid.

Yes, I am indeed founder and president of DVTOC which is the official Tesla partner club for NJ, DE, and greater Philadelphia. The owners clubs are about a shared community of like minded individuals, providing education to new as well as experienced owners, socializing and making new friends, participating in public outreach and community events, and serving as a liaison to Tesla. I imagine a similar group forming for Lucid owners, as Lucid itself has alluded to in social media posts and communications with me. Not yet sure what form that will take.

This is what I wrote in a post to my Facebook friends many of whom would be shocked to hear I'd drive anything other than a Tesla: I still love Tesla, and I see a future where everyone drives an electric vehicle, but not necessarily a Tesla. That would be boring. There needs to be choice and diversity in cars. Lucid has incredible new technology and offers that hope for the world's transition to sustainable transport. Early adopters, as we were for Tesla, are needed to pave the way for the masses. Just as Tesla's master plan started with the Roadster, followed by Model S, which led to development of more affordable Model 3 and now Y, Lucid also has a similar master plan. The Lucid Air Dream Edition (only 520 will be produced) is the start of their journey and I am honored to have been selected to participate in this historic delivery event. Our Dream Air is the performance version with 1111 horse power, 21" wheels and 451 miles range. The range version with 19" wheels has 520 miles range.

Congrats!

Interior Santa Monica -- it is visible in the video link I posted as well as on the design studio on the Lucid website.
The car is being shipped because I did not have time to drive it back from California, so have not charged at home.
We have both a NEMA 14-50 and Tesla Wall Connector. Either can be used.
We purchased this adapter to use the Tesla connector: https://www.amazon.com/Lectron-Tesla-Charger-J1772-Adapter/dp/B07V7V2QT8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=90L4I0BAU3DU&keywords=tesla+j1772+adapter&qid=1636235257&sprefix=tesla%20j1772%20adapter,aps,83&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExQkFYMFNURDBNMEdFJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTE0NTEwM05TSk01SDdXQjFLMiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDU0MjU3MjkxODc4T0dFQk1ZUiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Lucid has not released their wall connector yet. Not sure if we'll get it since the NEMA 14-50 is also used to charge my Roadster.
It is possible that the vehicle to grid functions will require the Lucid wall connector, however I already have Tesla Powerwalls, so that feature is not as important to me at this time.

Ride -- amazingly smooth and quiet. lots of regen braking. Handles very well on curvy mountain roads. Hoping my changing of the tires for winter does not dramatically affect the road noise.

Thanks for the quick reply, I forgot about that Dream specific interior. Winter tires for me on Porsche always were quieter than Pirelli performance.

I believe they do. When we built our house we already had a Tesla and knew we would eventually have more than one EV, so we ran a 50-amp and a 100-amp line in the garage with FEMA 14-50 plugs.

I believe the Lucid comes with a 240-volt charging cable, right? If so, we're going to skip the Lucid wall connector, as we don't really need the 19+ kW charge rate at home. I would find the ability use the car battery as an emergency power backup useful in some situations, but we already have a transfer switch hooked to a whole-house generator, and our electrician wasn't sure the Lucid setup could be ganged to the generator transfer switch.

Do you have any idea whether Lucid is staffed to handle technical questions from customers at the outset? Not only would my electrician need some wiring schematics should we want to use the wall connector with our generator, but I'm also planning to install a radar/laser detector, and I'm pretty sure our Lucid Dream will be the first one the installer has seen. When we had the system put in the Plaid, we found a lot had changed since our 2015 Tesla's radar installation. Tesla no longer had a switched 12-volt line, and the only way the installer could get the radar unit to power down automatically was to build and program an electronic module that could read the voltage drop that occurs on the line to the central screen when the main car systems power down. I'm pretty sure my installer will need some coaching from Lucid on his first install in a Lucid.

yes, there is 24/7 Customer Service -- in the phone app there is a phone number and an email provided -- but this is for the vehicles currently I imagine since the wall connector is not yet available.

The other thing I will need rather urgently is winter floor mats -- beige floor mats may look good and hold up in California, but not with the mud, slush, salt, and snow we see in winter climates. Of course none are available after market yet (that I could find), so will need to custom order some. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

Thank you for sharing your experience so far. We all have lots of questions, both general in nature and detailed specific once you receive your car and have had more time exploring all the feature. Thank you once again!

It's a stopgap until WeatherTech or a similar aftermarket firm offers them, but do you think Lucid would sell you a set of mat inserts for the Mojave interior? It should be pretty close to the dark trim of the Santa Monica interior.

Weather Tech, your car is almost to Chicago, I'm sure they'd love to laser scan it.

Bolingbrook, IL near my younger brother to be exact.

I'd love to use the car as a UPS, then switch over to generator. House we are moving to doesn't have a generator at this time so really need for Lucid to release specs on it. May skip it all together and install a dedicated whole house UPS, with generator control. @hmp10 we've discussed it.

Dreamed, congrats and best of luck! You’re in the unenviable position of being the first owner on this forum. That brings with it a lot of responsibility. ;)

Living in NJ (I’m on L.I.), is your service center the upcoming service center on L.I.? I know they’re planning service vans similar to Tesla’s approach, but there may be times a service center is called for. Have they discussed this with you?

Again, best of luck and enjoy that sweet ride.

For now, most likely yes for Long Island, but they are in the process of opening a service center in/near King of Prussia PA (which is near the Tesla Devon Service Center -- which used to be our Tesla service center before they opened Cherry Hill NJ). Since we were Model S owners in 2012 we are also expect that like Tesla back in the day, Lucid will provide mobile service or come to pick up the car if needed.
I understand the responsibility and will do my best to provide information and answer questions.
My car is now in Kansas! Getting closer.

Welcome to the forum, Dreamed. Looking forward to reading your impressions.

I do believe that Lucid will do mobile servicing and, if they need to bring the car to a service center, will give you a loaner too.

I live in California and they've told me that they will do mobile servicing throughout the state, even if you're many hours from a service center. That works well for me, as my closest center is nearly 3 hours away.

Now if only my GT would get here already...

Mobile servicing is great, I used it when I had my Tesla back in 2017. However I only live about 25 minutes from a Tesla service facility, so worst case scenario it was easy to bring in my car or get it towed. Today Tesla has a new facility that’s even closer.

The problem arises for those that live many hours from a Lucid service facility. Even when the service includes pick up, drop off and a loaner, that’s potentially many miles added to the odometer, driven by a stranger. It’s unclear if these situations would include flat bedding a car in need of service, that’s still drivable, to avoid accumulating excessive mileage.

I know these issues don’t bother many owners, but for me it would be a sore point. In fact it was one of the reasons, prior to its release, I dropped Polestar from consideration after leaving a deposit. When I called Polestar’s headquarters in Sweden to get answers to simple questions like who is servicing the car (Volvo or Polestar) and where, my question was greeted with confusion and non-answers. I found that disconcerting enough to call it a day.

I assume you're tracking your car's transit via your phone app, Dreamed? If so, what parasitic battery losses are you noticing?

what parasitic battery losses are you noticing?
yes, I am tracking with the phone app. It is now in Missouri.
Last Monday battery was at 57%, today, Sunday, it is at 54% -- so idle drain is very low. However, it is asleep most of the time and difficult to wake. We think it is most likely in transport mode which would minimize waking and other functions, so this is not necessarily representative, but still it is very good.

Yes, that is very good.

Our Model S Plaid was in the shop for 5 days having the radar/laser system installed. The car was not driven by the installer (we kept tabs on the odometer) during that time, and the car was powered down much of the time. The battery pack charge was as 72% when we dropped the car off, and by the fourth day it had dropped to just over 20%. The installer didn't have a 240-volt plug in his shop, but he was able to bring the charge back up with the 110-volt line enough for us to get the car home. Neither our 2015 Model S nor my brother's Model 3 have seen anything like this much idle loss.

We still can't figure out why the charge dropped so precipitously, but it left me worried about the Lucid during the 5-day radar installation stint we have planned for it.

And yet my e-Etron can sit for a week and lose only 1%. So I’m somewhat less impressed. Yes, 3% is certainly better than my MS which could lose 3% in a day, but not as good as the Audi. Hmp10’s phantom discharge is insanely high. Something doesn’t seem right, even for a Tesla.
