Drive System Fault Megathread

AC as in aid conditioning right? Not ACC?

It was much cooler (fall time) when it happened to me and so I didn't really use AC much, so it's hard to comment on that to be honest.
Yes, air conditioning.
Just had a suspicion that maybe because of design constraints, AC in EV is not as powerful as in ICE.
We have another EV with stronger AC than Lucid's, but still weaker than ICE's.

Got it, yeah sorry I can't comment because I didn't really use the AC in them

Yup, no actual fault found or repair needed. They were very keen to establish how recently prior to the error I had installed 2.1.3. I don’t want to feed conjecture, but this may at least partly explain the paused rollout of 2.1.3 and the fairly rapid progression to 2.1.10.
Good observation about the rollout issue. I'm still waiting on my newest updates, but would rather wait until Lucid is pretty sure they have it right. No need to be a guinea pig.

Just had the Drive System Fault notification show up at the beginning of an 80 mile out and back trip today. The car performed perfectly on the trip south - although the little yellow exclamation triangle planted itself in the lower right of the dash. On the way back, same error, same triangle, and same uneventful drive back north.

Later, when leaving my final meeting there was no warning and no triangle. Same flawless drive back to home.

I let CS know after fault #1 and let them know about it disappearing on drive #3. They want a mobile tech to take a look, but had no other advice or info to share.

I’ll post with whatever info comes back from the mobile service visit. If others have a perspective on what’s going on, please share.

Service reviewed the logs, did an in-person assessment, and saw no evidence of concerns related to a drive fault error despite the intermittent dashboard warnings. Will watch and report if something mechanical seems to be amiss. For now, I’ll continue to drive on…

I’m unfortunately having this issue as well now! Happened to me for the first time yesterday with only 460 miles on my vehicle. I fortunately had a mobile tech coming today for some other issues and he was able to fix it. However, the fault came back again after one drive and I’m now waiting for Lucid service to contact me.

Interesting, what was the fault again? Mine wasn’t a pump failure but rather the LIN bus that controlled the coolant pump to rear drive motor and left battery pack. They replaced the pumps also in addition to the bus that faulted out just to be sure. I hope they sort yours out soon, maybe it’s the bus and not the pump?

My vehicle is showing a drive system fault. Mobile tech diagnosed it as “Battery interior ground is loose for ASIL- LEFT BATTERY” which he fixed but looks like something else is wrong as well. Hopefully Lucid agrees to have the car brought into the service center for further diagnosis

He explained today that they planned to replace that part and asked me if he or his team members could drive the car about 50 miles to ensure that no further faults came on.
This is terrific. I have seen many folks who have other cars complaint that the mileage on their car when it went in for service is far less than when it was returned and thinking Ferris Buehler. Asking permission to test drive a fix is a terrific way to proceed and Kudos to Lucid for doing it.

They’ve always told me thus far if they have to drive the car to test anything out. I agree, that’s good policy.

Looking to buy a brand new 2023 Touring, and wanted to ask. Has anyone had a problem lately with their Air Touring ( or otherwise Lucid ) go dead? It would help me decide to go further or not - I've already put down the deposit. Plus I live in North Carolina ; the nearest service center is in Washington DC - a 4-5 hour drive. Should I be concerned about this too? Thanks in advance!

I haven’t seen reports of any battery or drivetrain issues requiring a tow in awhile. Lucid has been able to identify some issues via remote diagnostics and take the car pre-emptively to fix before it breaks down while giving you a loaner. Of course being stranded is possible in any car, my friend had to lemon his ID4 due to repeated power failures they couldn’t figure out, my other co-workers new ICE BMW died 5 months into ownership. In my experience, if there is any trouble (though hopefully there won’t be), Lucid does an outstanding job at service and will take good care of you.

I believe those were early models. We haven’t heard lately about turtle mode. I believe Luicd has fixed this in newer models. Also, if SC is far then they will have mobile visits where they will come to your house to fix until it’s a serious issue. Lastly, I’m sure you may have use referral to get additional discount by using it. You can find in any of the members profile on left hand side under referral. If not, feel free to use

... anyone researching Lucid will be misled by what has been written / posted previously.

The car is well-sorted now.

I picked up my Pure at the end of November 2023 and got a drive system fault twice in December with roughly 500 miles on the odometer. Car was able to be driven back both times after Lucid Customer Care did a total reset on the vehicle but it’s now currently in the shop getting a new front motor put in. Very unfortunate for this to happen, but Lucid service has been exceptional in terms of keeping me in the loop and providing a loaner.

We live just outside of Richmond. There is a Lucid Service center in Mechanicsville which I know goes down to North Carlona to work on cars. They have been very responsive and helpful. I don't think you will have a problem, they are probably about 2 hours from you.

I love my car!!!! We have had minor issues, just recently the heater stopped working. They picked up the car and returned it the next day. I don't think you will regret your decision.

Thank you all - very helpful ( I also used the referral code too ) - and I look forward to becoming a peer ( Lucid owner )! :)

Just before Christmas I had a the right screen not load while I was driving some friends to dinner. That was the first time they had been In a Lucid so it was not the best visual for them. i told them it was a software thing and after the car cycled during dinner, it would reset. Well, after dinner, we got in the car and now both the right screen and the pilot panel did not work. I did a reboot the screens came on but got the lane departure warning as noted earlier in the thread:

Needless to say, my friends were not impressed and I doubt they would ever buy a Lucid after seeing all these errors. This resolved after I had taken them home and another reboot. A week later I was driving and changed the radio station. The radio station changed, but now I had the old and new station playing at the same time.it Fixed after the reboot but came back another day. We did several reboots while on the phone with customer care. reboots caused me to even loose the ability to control the volume off the steering wheel and roller. They scheduled mobile service to come by In two weeks (mid-January). Frank rolled by. At that time, everything was working fine and no errors were showing up.

fast forward to yesterday. Had the issue again of the right panel not showing up Again. Did a power cycle and got that lane departure error again, but needed to leave and drive to my errand, but texted customer care. finished my errand so the car had gone through another power cycle and everything was working. Meanwhile, Costa Mesa service center had left me a message. I called them back and said everything was working now. I just had called it in because they appeared to be software glitches that they really need to get fixed.

They told me that they wanted to bring my car into Costa Mesa mid-February as the remote diagnostics indicated some High voltage battery pack power surges and they may have to replace the battery pack. Do not know if all these other little issues were from that or not, but I thought I would put it out there. My car was Delivered in July 2022 and has 27k miles on it now.
