Some odds and ends

The car went to sleep and locked the doors while my wife and I were sitting in the car having a snack. Puling the door knob to its normal position did not open either door. We called the Lucid Customer care and she explained that the door knob has two positions . Position one activates the 12V latch. Position two is a hard pull of the knob, pass the normal travel, and it is a mechanical release. Unfortunately it is very hard to pull, so unless you have been told and have tested, it is unlikely that in a panic situation you would pull hard enough to activate the mechaical latch.

This approach of a mechanical backup is becoming the norm for cars with electric door switches. Our new Tesla has a button you push for normal door opening and a mechanical tab at the leading edge of the armrest that you pull up to open the door mechanically in the event of power failure.

However, as with the Lucid, its presence is not obvious, as it's formed to look like part of the armrest. You would have to know it's there in order to use it.

I think the easiest solution would be for an audio signal with a video warning notice to pop up on the screen just before the car powers down, explaining how to power the car back up and how to open the doors manually. This might not help in all situations, but it would help during a normal power-down.

I feel the Lucid is a GREAT bridge from ICE to EV.

I absolutely agree. It is quite easy to forget you’re driving an EV with the Lucid because it has a more traditional feel and the controls are not as extreme as Tesla’s. It’s refreshing to have physical buttons for fan and temperature…although frankly I keep forgetting they’re there and instead telling Alexa to change the temp for me

Wait, so that works?! I guess Alexa on the car is not as useless as I thought it was based on reading this forum.

I think your success will largely be based off trial and error. Alexa, for me, has been great at Nav, temp, and music.

Yes, it (mostly) works for me. You just say “Alexa, turn on the heater” or “Alexa, play Def Lepard on Spotify” or “Alexa what is the weather forecast?” and she responds and it mostly works. Alexa is still not able to command Tidal, though. Just Spotify or Amazon music. Navigation is better than I expected…it’s about as good as Siri, you can mostly just use real language and ask it to take you somewhere. For example, “Alexa, navigate to the nearest strip club” and she will give you some options and you just tell her which one. A few things don’t work yet - I still have not figured out how to voice dial. For example, if you say “Alexa, call wife” she will say “that isn’t supported, instead try using the Alexa app”. Huh? Same thing happens if you use the steering wheel button: push it and say “call wife” and Alexa says “that isn’t supported.” If there is a way to have the steering wheel button trigger Siri instead, I haven’t figured it out (long push doesn’t trigger Siri for me as it would in the Tesla).

A word of caution... don't mix up those two. Good luck.

A long press does not trigger Siri on a Tesla Vehicle, at least not on my Model X or Model Y. What you are referring to is called Siri Eyes Free and was something that has been available since before Apple CarPlay, but is not available on Tesla or Lucid. It would be easy for Lucid to add this currently, but I think they will probably include it when they have CarPlay fully implemented.

That’s interesting, a long press on my MS triggers Siri…unless I’m thinking of the Range Rover or Mercedes…

I'm sure it's not the Tesla. A long press on our BMW X5 plug-in hybrid triggers Siri too, but it also has CarPlay and that is the way to distinguish between the onboard voice recognition and Siri.

calling wife is not supported. going to nearest strip club is. got it.

On another note, when I'm on a call via Bluetooth, I haven't found a way to hang up via a button on the steering wheel. Kind of annoying

So tested the range map, it definitely adjusts when you have less range see below. I also included the other map views on the pilot panel.

Bonus pic, mini lucid!
I like how the range cloud shows range off shore! Is there an Alexa command to enable scuba mode?

Ah…I texted my delivery advisor about that! You just push the silver bar inside the right-side scroll wheel. It answers calls and hangs up the call as well.

I know it answers calls, but it doesn’t seem to hang up on calls, unless they changed this from the last time I tried it! Previously, it only muted calls while they were active.

Thanks, I'll check it out next time and see!

Does this communicate his desire to get some liquidity or his personal outlook on the future of the Company. I also wonder if he announced his intentions to do a program sell earlier. Most CEO's we deal with that have large positions in public companies tend to announce their intended disposition of shares on a program basis with something along the lines of "It is the intention to sell x shares x days after quarterly earnings published". This tells people/analysts of the intent to sell based on timing rather than price. You sell the shares on that date regardless of price which means you theoretically do not have any additional insider information. The market usually reads this as a way to get liquidity, not a message with respect to the CEO's personal outlook as to the Company's future. I am continuously perplexed by the lack of sophistication in the Company's communication.
