Steering Wheel Button Issue

It would be great if they replaced the volume toggle on the steering wheel with scroll wheel like the center of the dash
I couldn't agree more!

I can concur, the wheel volume control is useless. I tried it few times, got pissed, well , it's useless.

I always hesitate to use words like "useless." But I agree, the volume on the steering wheel is not good. The big issue, I think, is the delay between pushing the knob up and the actual reaction in the software. If they can fix that delay, I think it would be fine. Continuing to hold it up will continue to increase volume just fine. The problem is that the delay causes you to hold it for too long, which then makes you overshoot the amount of change you wanted.

I think it can be fixed in software, though. It's odd, given the center rocker doesn't have a delay. And neither does the left steering wheel knob for controlling HA speed.

I think, you nailed it .
Delay is an issue.
I just don't want a "delay" (of so many bugs) being a trademark of Lucid.

I also think the resistance on the wheel is too high. If they could make it more like the center volume control, I think it would be better and easier to use.

The mute button for the audio, on the steering wheel, broke. Looks like the clasp on one end broke. Looks to me like a new part should just snap in. Service advisor tells me this is a known thing. The only solution is to replace the entire steering wheel assembly. So, instead of the 25 cent part, change out the $1500 steering wheel assembly. I hope a lucid exec reads this.

Those buttons are one of my least favorite things about the car. At least 33.3% of the time, I manage to pause the music rather than turn the volume up a smidge. I definitely prefer the steering wheel controls on my Rivian. Rubberized barrels you can also depress to activate a function. Haven’t mis-paused yet with those. Maybe they’ll sell Lucid some??

I think three buttons would be better than this up/down/press control. If you want to keep the current design, the "button" should be split in half, with the half closest to the ring of the wheel fixed to move up and down and the other half be a button to pause. Would eliminate the accidental pause and be easier to use. Most cars have a three button set up vs this set up. It escapes me for the moment, but I had another vehicle with this setup. It was changed out mid cycle because people hated it.

I'm certain this is the wrong thread for this... but seeing you have the Lucid official flag. How long does it take to get support? It took a while to get mobile support and parts were ordered on 4/12 still waiting on the next steps. I've reached out to the mobile support for follow up and they are on it, just curious why its taking so long.

Thanks mobile contact just got back, I believe they are on top of it.

Yea the design of the steering wheel scroll wheels requires quite a bit of force (upwards and downwards) on that button assembly. I'm sure that contributes to the failure. I rarely use the volume adjustment on the steering wheel as it is pretty laggy, the center scroll wheel is far more responsive.
I agree. I used to hardly ever use it, but now that I read this thread, I'll never use it. As you mention, very laggy. In fact so are the < and > buttons on the wheel to advance song tracks or go back. Latency is really annoying. Sometimes I push the twice (lack of patience on my part) then it advances two tracks.

We have buttons to advanced tracks on wheel as well? 😳

I use that button primarily to end CarPlay calls and only occassionally as a volume adjust, from now on I'll use it only to end calls. The problem now is the left side and adjusting the HA

I use the right scroll wheel on the steering wheel often, but almost never use that button. I rotate it between my thumb and index finger like @borski, it’s easy to do.

The Polestar 2 rental I had had the same issue, lag after pressing track skip. I think it has more to do with CarPlay/Bluetooth/Music buffering in general than the manufacturer.

That is what I do, NOW. Only problem is a bright light shines out the hole at night. Right into your eyes.
Gotta wear your sunglasses at night like the song says. Sorry I know that’s annoying.

Just another call for... black electrical tape! (Or painter's tape...) But beware the duct tape! (That's for fenders and bumpers only.)
