Would You Purchase Again?

I would not purchase the Gravity again. Too unreliable for me but the driving dynamics are amazing. I decided to buy a Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric and take delivery in the summer. Working to Lemon Law my Gravity due to how long its been in service in the 3 months I have owned it. I hope Lucid gets everything ironed out and will definitely revisit them as a brand in the future.

Please start a thread on your lemon law experience with the Gravity. I'm very curious to hear how the process goes. It does seem like a few people here get a Gravity with substantial problems and long visits to service centers. If I lose the Gravity lottery and get a troublesome vehicle, I might well try to lemon law it rather than just waiting and waiting and hoping for future improvements.

I'm skeptical.
I don't get the point of it. It's an inherently less efficient way to transfer energy, so it'll drive up your energy bills if you use it. And the hardware is expensive. And all it saves is plugging in a charging cord, which really doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

i think its a neat feature but I am not going to pay 6k for it. especially on a lease. I will plug it in to my wall connector and its the same 11.5kw level 2 charging.

Probably so Porsche can sell you the hardware.

a good implementation I've seen was a development test bed in northern Europe (Sweden maybe?), where they were building a few of these into city streets.

@hmp10 could weigh in for himself, but he's had probably the worst ownership experience anyone could have with his Gravitys (he and his partner bought 2). He has openly mused on the forum about potentially being done with Lucid given the massive headaches he's had. Heck, half the bugs thread is his posts. And yet, even after all that, after one was recently totaled (within the past week, I believe), he turned around and ordered a new one in days.

I have a GDE. I have had probably an "average" experience amongst the early adopters here. I haven't had anything catastrophic happen - though I am a little concerned that with my low mileage thus far that I might have a drive issue - that's definitely still TBD. But I have had a lot of bugs, some of them annoying, some embarrassing, some I'm not that worried about. The car is a little embarrassing to take coworkers in, because something isn't going to work right - the seats are loud, the AC is loud, the handles are unreliable, etc. The fob issues are really embarrassing, yes, even on latest firmware and 3.3.9.

But there's nothing else out there I'd rather be driving. I still have my 2017 Model S (which still feels good to get in and drive BTW) but the Gravity drives and handles better, has a better driver's seat/cockpit area (my Tesla has horrible everyday storage for coffee cups, wallet, Kleenex, sunglasses, random stuff I need a space for when I'm driving), better build quality, has better range, charges faster, has a better sound system, holds 2-3x the cargo, seats more people more comfortably, has better headlights. The Tesla still wins for nav IMO, and it has a lot fewer glitches and bugs. I don't hate getting into the Tesla the way I instantly have fallen out of love with my previous "old cars" when a new one comes along, but I still happily reach for my Gravity key every morning and I'm disappointed when I have to drive the Tesla (which I do because my kid is learning to drive and sorry, she doesn't touch the Gravity yet).

For me, the Cayenne is probably the only car I'd consider as an alternative, and it's not out yet, and I think it's going to be a while and have its own issues. And it will cost a ton more. And won't have SC access (which is a dealbreaker for me on any other vehicle).

TLDR; I'd buy it again, warts and all. Doesn't mean I won't bitch about it, because misery loves company, and because I do hope Lucid is reading these forums. But I see my Gravity as my Model S 2.0.
Funny you mentioned. Cayenne. Just placed an order for a '26 Cayenne EV Turbo. Aug' 26 delivery. Will most likely get rid of the Model X and the Taycan when Cayenne arrives.

I appreciate everyone's thoughtful responses here. We've had Tesla's for almost a decade now (2 Model S's and a Model X) and are ready to try something different. I was quite excited about the Gravity when I placed the order back in the summer. However, I'm definitely having second thoughts now given the number of issues people are having and more importantly my distance to a service center. It seems like it's about 60/40 in favour of would buy again vs. would not buy again, which isn't encouraging given the cost involved. I'll lose my deposit if I cancel now that my order is in production, right? That's a minor factor, as better to lose $1000 then spend $100,000 on something we're unhappy with.
I am 10 hrs from the nearest service center as well. I am about 50 mins from mobile repair. I have no regrets and would purchase again - 100%. As others have said, nothing compares and delivers the driving experience. My factors were comfort, performance, quietness, one large and one small dog, and wife. We also want to have option to do in car camping and tent camping. We also are tired of dropping off our $100k-200k sports car to a mundance dealer for regular service all the time. I have been lucky with minimal issues like blank screen (more so on 3.3.9 and having to reboot) or small fob issues still (but I test for battery life and leave my fob in pocket most days). The very small outweigh the very large pleasure of driving the car. It literally 'feels' like driving my 911 Turbo.

What kind of pricing on these Turbos?

What kind of pricing on these Turbos?
Coming up on $200K for one spec'd the way I would want it.
Close to $150K for a well-spec'd non-turbo.
Gravity is a deal by comparison. Cayenne will have much better charging speed and possibly better handling/ride quality tradeoff, likely better software, much less interior space, dated looks.

Gravity owner for a bit over 1 month. Overall great experience. Minor software annoyances like the HVAC. Zero major issues. Software will improve. Hardware is superb. I look for excuses to drive the car.

9.5/10

Would absolutely buy again. Nothing else comes close with the performance, luxury, and space. There is no legitimate competition for the car itself.
I completely agree!

Obviously this thread is getting feedback from the very earliest Gravity adopters. And they’ve gone thru all of the growing pains of this car. Sadly that’s been too much for several, and you can’t blame them for this. But for me, my GGT has been amazing to drive and has incredible value in packaging performances and actually the tech has worked quite well. I’ve had no fob issues. No key card issues. And no significant software issues at all. Rare random alert that goes away. DDpro has worked pretty well on highway for me.

I have benefited from the experience of the others on this forum. And at this point, yes 100% would lease this car again. Might even buy out my lease if it makes sense.

the Porsche options check list grew quickly. lol.
I didn't even get all the special color stitching's and color scheme. mine was a tick over $200k. I enjoy driving my Taycan, so I think the driving experience will be great on the Cayenne EV, the Germans might not be as good with the OTA stuff, but their key fobs work flawlessly. (I kid, I kid).

Great to hear.
I hope many future owners have your experience.

Just the owner of an October 2023 build AWD Air Pure. Glad I waited a bit to get mine. Didn’t want to be a Trailblazer. I’ve had no significant hardware issues, only minor software bugs that self-correct, and the OTA updates have made the car better than when I took delivery. Disappointments I have experienced are related to Customer Service, not being able to get a service center rep on the phone, nor schedule a service appointment. Finally got my Air in for the annual maintenance - at the end of year two. There were three reps there in the service department, sitting behind desks looking at laptops, I guess they just don’t pick up the phone. IMO Lucid should hire a consultant to help them improve Customer Service. Even with annoying hardware/software problems that may occur for owners, having good customer service (prompt, reliable communication) would really make it all easier to deal with.

Mine ended up being 200k as well. Gravity was a good deal but the Cayenne will be faster :)

People said the same about MagSafe chargers for phones; and now almost everyone uses them on their bedside. If something is sitting overnight, a slightly less efficient charge is okay. Also, the Porsche wireless charging is surprisingly efficient. They claim it’ll do 48A (11kW) at 90% efficiency from grid to battery. That’s pretty awesome.

I’m about one month away from delivery of my GGT. I’m uncertain as to whether I should take delivery or eat the deposit and buy in a year or so when many of the early bugs are worked out. Mobile service is an option where I live, and it sounds like they can do some repair work using a third party site in my city, but the closest actual Lucid service center is a 10 hour drive from me.

Although I’d like to get a new vehicle, I don’t need one. My ‘21 Model S still does everything I need. It’s hard to get a sense of how impactful or prevalent the software bugs are when reading through the forums. I’m wondering if people who have already taken delivery of a GGT would buy again given their experience, and if they would buy now if in my shoes?
I got an Air, it’s almost perfect, software very much improved. I would never buy any other vehicle again unless it’s a Lucid. My Air is the best car I ever bought. Gravity will be the same once software addressed.
